What about the Fighters OVA, when is it?

Also whoa, didn't realize Tryon 3's bigger than usual in terms of boxes.

No announced date. We got an update at the Japan Hobby Show this week that it's entered production now. I think maybe expect it around mid next year, but it could take a lot of time and not come until much later.

I personally think the difference between 10 dollar hobby nippers and 40 dollar hobby nippers does not merit the cost difference, but to each their own.

I've had much better experiences with nice nippers and I think they're worth the price difference. Makes everything much easier and I get rid of nubs way easier. Opinions and all, of course, but my 2 cents.

No doubt, bro. I would like to try the godhand nippers just once to see if they live up to the legend.

I would totally buy them if they could ever actually get them manufactured and stocked again. From what I've heard, they're only slightly better than the nicer Tamiya ones, but still amazing.

Someone donate me some nippers? I've been using 1 dollar cuticle nail clippers for my gunpla the entire time with an NT Cutter for clean up.

I'm using Xuron 410 Micro-Shear Flush Cutter, and I get some pretty bad discoloration once the nub is gone which I'm not sure is normal. I try to cut away from the piece as much as possible, then again once the piece is loose like i've seen in videos.

I have the same nippers without the issue. I leave a bit of nub left and carefully shave the rest with my x-acto knife. I only get marks if I mess up the cutting. Maybe try that?

EDIT:

Actually, mine are the more expensive model that look almost exactly the same in photos. Still, I suggest the knife thing from earlier in my post as a thing to try.

Frozen Teardrop just pulled a Venom Snake with Heero.

Wing Heero is Beta.

FT Heero is Alpha.

Alpha is a clone of Heero that trained alongside him with Doctor J to be pilot of Wing Gundam. Alpha seems to have Beta's memories by the time M.C. 22 rolls around.

He is literally Venom Heero.

Did you just spoil TPP? Thanks.

Ok, I'm over it, but maybe make what you're spoilering a bit clearer.

This kit came with a gray panel marker, and I was skeptical but I really like how subtle the definition is.

Finished Gundam X last night. I'm pretty indifferent to this series. The overall plot was pretty boring and I felt like it strayed from the post-apocalyptic setting too quickly. I loved the premise but it devolved into another war between space and Earth too quickly. Other than the original X design, I wasn't a fan of the mech design either. On the other hand, I enjoyed most of the characters. Garrod was a good main character and the rest of the cast was also good. Doctor was the best character. Overall, I felt X was pretty weak. The characters were nice coming off of the cast of Wing, but the designs and plot were very lacking. I wished they explored the post-apocalyptic aspect of the world more.

Do you all think that Gundam series would benefit from being shorter? Sometimes I feel like getting to that 50 episode count really drags things out.

Some certainly would, but the fact that X got shortened late in the game certainly was its biggest issue. You can see the plots that got artificially sped up or just cut off all together. I thought the plot, for me, was pretty good during the first part of the series, but so much happens so fast after that it just stop working.

I think the series is still really interesting for its characterizations and great mech design, but it certainly is hurt by the fact it got 'cancelled'. I really would've liked to see what that show would've become had it gotten its full run. Could have definitely been a top tier AU show.

Finally built my Dahack. While Rec in G had a lot of great design this thing came on top. I didn't fully snap the pieces together or put stickers/ink because I plan on painting this later. just need to figure out how to go about it.

While I mostly agree, I think the Virsago Gundam is a great design.

I think I don't like Virsago because it just looks like Epyon mixed with Altron. Now that I think about it, there is something about Master Gundam, Epyon, and Virsago that just make me think they are the same Gundam with slight modifications. I think it is just the head. Separating from that thought, I do think Virsago is one of the stand out suits in X. It moves in interesting ways and the long arms and extending torso looks cool.

So the best way to watch the original Gundam series is through the compilation movies?
What about the later Gundam series which ones are best watched through their compilation movies?

That's the only one. If you plan on watching Zeta you must watch all of it in it's epic every argument ends in a punch to the face glory.

This isn't even half of them. Too bad Zeta couldn't air on Toonami and get a Peter Cullen intro. "Zeta Gundam now on Toonami. Get smacked the fuck up."

Are the Gundam 0079 compilation movies that much better than the series? I know the movies are what got the series popular to begin with, but I haven't seen them myself.

I've only seen the original series but from what I've heard the movie versions are paced better and cut out a good amount of filler. Is that red headed chick that Amuro was thirsty for even in the movie version?

The best way to experience the 0079 story is The Origin manga. The things it adds add a ton of the story, and it adjust the main story to make the pacing much, much better. You get all the content of 0079 with much better pacing and art.

They do have a somewhat similar silhouette and color scheme, that's hard to deny.

Like Jaded said it's better to watch the original via the movies and then watch the series for the later ones. If you want the best Universal Century experience go Original trilogy>8th Mobile Suit Team>War in the Pocket>Zeta>ZZ>Char's Counter Attack>Unicorn.

I actually watched the 0079 movies first and went back to the TV series after I had gone through to CCA, and would definitely recommend the TV series over the movies. The in-between filler episodes did a lot to build up more sympathy and interest for the characters, which I felt was a lot more lacking in the movies.

IIRC my first exposure to the franchise was the original 3 movies on VHS. I still haven't watched the original series all the way though, but planning on picking up the new BDs to rectify that though.

I agree the Z trilogy movies are generally shit. I don't know if it was the time difference that caused problems but the TV series is much better.

I'd watch the series and then the movies. Stay away from the Z movies though, at least the last movie.

That's the shiny spiffy new BD of the original series.

When we say original, we mean it's the ooooold series put onto discs that are shiny and spiffy and new, correct?

When is the new new old series supposed to come out? I saw a few trailers for it on the Gundam youtube channel.

You mean The Origin? The next movie comes out October 31st.

Has there been an English release of The Origin yet?
Yes there has. Or you could import it also since the discs are exactly the same.
Does Bandai still have anything to do with Gundam anime distribution? Because it's all wonky since they pulled out of America.
Sunrise partnered with the Right Stuf since Bandai Ent. folded. Turn A is already out on DVD, the original series is coming to Blu Ray, and probably the rest of it will also come out at some point.

Good news. Some of the Gundam DVD prices on Amazon were getting silly.

In some cases some series actually need more than 50 episodes.

AGE being one of them. I know I overreacted and hated AGE but after giving it another chance and a second watch alongside the OVA, I realised how much potential it had.

If AGE cut out the last arc and saved it for later while expanding on Flit and Asemu's stories for 25 episodes each, it would have been much better.

AGE suffered from being too condensed and rushed out and I blame it on LEVEL-5.

Had AGE been extended into 2 seasons of Flit and Asemu, then a season a couple years later with Kio, we would have been able to see all the cool AGE designs from the PSP game and expand more on the AGE universe.

AGE had so much potential and it was wrecked from being so rushed out.

I liked G Reco too but it is an understatement to say that G Reco needs 50 episodes. It really needed the extra time to better flesh out the great idea and world it had and the 26 2 cour format held it back.

Other shows needed cuts from 50 episodes. But I find it kind of hard to have a new AU universe and restrict it to 26 episodes. It's hard to do unless it's Build Fighters.

G-Reco definitely needed more episodes. With the amount of factions and subfactions introduced, and relevant characters from each of them, things just got way too rushed for sheer volume of the setting.

Going to be giving G reco a second try soon. Only made it 3 episodes in before the inconsistent moods of the characters made me tune out. Does not sound like I will like the story or characters too much but the mech design seemed good.

Also about to move to another country but might have to leave my gunpla here :( anyone got some tips for shipping/packing them in a suitcase without having them completely busted lol? Same for the boxes/top artwork. Obviously not the priority for moving to the other side of the earth but... kinda want to take a few of them with me haha.
