It's nearing 2 months since Samuel Decal sent my MG Akatsuki and the tracking info still hasn't shown it hitting the US. Sent him off an email. If he can't help me, he should be able to at least tell me if that's normal or give me a place to contact. That's way longer than I've ever had a SAL package take.

That's ridiculous, I've never had any problems with him or anything like that. Got mine in 10 days... I feel bad cause I've never had issues with these things and gave you a good recommendation for sam/other places.

I don't think there's been a dock strike recently in Hong Kong/Guangzhou recently either...

I hope you get it soon and I'm sorry about your long wait/bad experience.

I totally don't hold it against Samuel Decal. I've had great experiences with him before and this is completely not his fault. I'm certain he'll do what he needs to to make it right as well.

Oh yeah, I picked this G-Exes Jackedge up at the store for ¥500. I like the dark colors, and it lets me get away with less work. I used a dark gray Gundam Marker to color over the stress marks from cutting off the runners and nubs. Turned out pretty swell for a quick and easy kit.

My main complaint is that it's not flexible at all. I can get the Genace Kit from the same series to kneel, but there's no way to do it with this one.

Okay, pictures of Strike Rouge incoming soon. They won't match Shun's kit with the red panel wash but I gotta say, I'm quite pleased. I've done 5 of the GATX* series kits and they are the best ones I've done, save for one problem: The manipulators (hands) just suck. for 2012-2014 kits, you'd expect the hands to be actually able to hold the weapons by now. They went cheap on us. The trigger hand basically only fits the Duel's rifle (best rifle of the bunch) and none of the rest. The worst offender is the Aegis. That gun just never worked for me aesthetically, either.

S. Rouge is the Strike with a better backpack, so it automatically wins. I really like the colors. Everything being different shades of red give it a less cartoony toy-like look compared tot he bold Red, Blue, and Yellow on Strike. Another thing I never noticed until now is that the exposed frame on S. Rouge's shoulders is black (or perhaps super dark blue, but for all intents and purposes, black), opposed to Strike's grey. Pretty cool. The shield has never looked better.

Also, the pink on the shoes, waist, and fin are a really nice color. Not 'Barbie's Corvette' pink at all. It's more like a pale, washed-out maroon than a super corny shade of pink. I guess it's basically a Trans-Am Strike.

A+ would recommend. Best backpack in the biz. I've built 5 of these kits on this frame, so I kinda kicked this one's ass.

G Reco is the most visually pleasing, stylish Gundam series.

The eyecatches, the mobile suit, the characters, it's great and fun. Fight scenes are top tier.

It's a fun show, deserved more episodes, and doesn't deserve all the blind hate despite having some warranted criticisms.

Remember when I said Altron might get here before my Akatsuki? Sure looks like that's happening. Altron just arrived in the US and Akatsuki is still out there in the ether. Glad I sent Samuel Decal that email.

Started to on my PG Astray Red Frame. This thing is HUGE.

It's on the smaller side of PGs, too. WZC has those giant wings, and 00, GP01, Strike Freedom and Unicorn are all larger kits.

Did anyone else get a KG-6 Sleipnir (Aldnoah Zero) kit? I have it coming in probably next week with some IBO HGs. Excited because I really like the look of it and it's my first non-bandai/Kotobukiya kit. The show ended poorly but from pictures I think this'll be pretty good. Supposed to be a little bigger than MG Wing kits in size. I'll have to post some pics when it comes in if anyone's interested.

I also found out they're doing a Chamber (Gargantia) model in January, so I'm pretty hyped for that, the Sahelanthropus model, and the Laplace's Box desk organizer thing for January.

I'm surprised we're getting Thunderbolt. Can't wait to see the crazy.

PGs are so complex. I don't know if I have the patience for them.

I'll be getting my Altron tomorrow. I'm surprised how soon you're getting it. Didn't you pick SAL?

Thunderbolt being animated means Hathaway's Flash has a chance (◕ㅁ◕✿)

If anyone wants an HGBF Super Fumina, Tatsu Hobby still has them since they're 100% sold out everywhere and will likely be sold out everywhere on the first day as well.

Thunderbolt has an adult lead and was originally serialized in an adult-targeted manga anthology. It's going for a different crowd than your typical Gundam series. Very intrigued to see what comes of this.

I'm not a fan when they add more Gundams during the One Year War. 08th MS Team made sense to me because they were all made out of spare parts and they were only marginally better than GMs. These new Gundams also tend to have technology they probably shouldn't have in 0079.

There's an English interview with the manga author stating that when he was brought on to create Thunderbolt, Sunrise let him know that he could do whatever he wanted and to consider it outside of the standard U.C. canon.

YO: I’m humbled [laugh]. I think in that sense Thunderbolt started off in a very fortunate position. Just as the lack of attention given the first Gundam TV series allowed it some freedom, my Gundam series is on a unique platform with Shogakukan’s Superior, so it’s not as tied down. In the beginning, I told them that I wanted to be able to work freely, even if that meant it wasn’t part of the Gundam canon, and they told me I could do what I want. However, that makes it difficult to adapt into anime and Gundam models... I suppose [laugh].

Whoops.

Huh, that makes me feel better about it. Not a huge fan of those really busy designs, but if this is generally considered non-canon it doesn't bother me.

Just because the author said that doesn't mean they won't try to shoehorn it in, though.

Thunderbolt would've been a great OVA back when there was tons of money to throw at stuff like this.

Thunderbolt is kind of a OYW AU since the war drags on into 0080 and the Zeong begins mass production. I love the NASA inspired designs though

I went normal registered Air Mail from Nippon-Yassan. Best balance of price and speed in this case.

When I ordered from Gentei Kits they said that Airmail would take two weeks o_O

And I couldn't finish my Dom before it arrived. Oh well. Gives me more time to think about what I'll do with it.

Gundam wikia is already purporting it as a TV adaptation. So maybe Orphans 25 episodes, Thunderbolt 25 and then the rest of Orphans. Like 00 and Geass.

Thunderbolt is only 6 volumes currently and ongoing. They can get through a volume's material in 2 episodes so I expect it to be a 12-13 episode series. 3 of the volumes are scanlated if you know where to look

I've never even heard of Thunderbolt.

There's never been an official english release put out by Bandai. Lots of the Gundam manga are unknown due to the incomplete or lack of translations. The Thunderbolt kits are relatively popular though and in Japan it seems to be one of the more popular Gundam manga. It really does feel like a 0080/0083/08th MS team style OYW OVA. I'm hoping the animation lives up to that legacy.
