When it comes to hg kits I will basically buy anything since they are so cheap.

I dunno, some HG kits are pretty iffy. I remember the HG Flags from the 00 line being really flimsy and pretty much useless without a stand. Usually HGUC kits tend to be WAY better because they know that UC fans are more particular, while the AU stuff tend to be cheaper for more casual fans in my experience. IBO seems to be an exception?

After building a few HGs I realized that I much prefer the 1/100 size and too lazy to put the time to do the extra panel lining scribing and the seam removal and all that stuff for an HG.

Would rather just say screw it, get 1/100 NG or MG, do what I want and call it a day. I'm good with the other Bandai kits like the Evangelion ones because they are bigger and sturdier.

I'll only get an HG kit I like that has no chance at getting an MG, like Nobel.

Some HGs are pretty bad. I got caught in the hype and got an HG G-Self and I hated the amount of foil seals it required and the tedious masking needed for it. I also hate having to shave V-Fins down because of the safety mechanism they add onto them and how a lot of details and features are lost to prevent injury.

I seriously can't wait for MG G-Self after the disappointment that was the HG.

Pretty much this for me. The past 3 HGs I've had to do this and it's wearing down on me. With another 6 in backlog and RG Wing for the hell of it, I don't think I can keep my concentration up.

I get it's for children, I bought my girlfriend's younger siblings some HG kits to go with my their new Wii U over new years. Cheap to make cheap to buy, intended for younger audience and hardcore builders who want a challenge.

It just really weighs down on you after a while. I would stick with RG but it just isn't as sturdy as a 1/100 model.

I'm just part of the other buying demographic and I have to live with the extra work for HG kits that catch my eye. It's just that sometimes the work needed for an HG kit is just too much and it becomes a barrier rather than a challenge anymore.

Perfect Pack G-Self being a prime example with the amount of shaving, masking, detailing, etc. you need to do for the damn kit.

Something like Nobel or Super Fumina I can live with because it isn't a problem considering they aren't necessarily high detail kits.

Some SD kits like Neo Zeong too.

Beargguy-III is the perfect HG kit. The design lacks any sort of paneling detail, and it looks great without much work, and it is heavily customizable in very easy ways with a high level of visual impact.

Simpler suits suit the HG line more, imo. Stuff like the Dom, Acguy/Bearguy, and so on. More complex suits usually involve a lot of stickers, which is when I start looking at MGs. I build them mostly because they're cheap and they're where most of the grunt suits get released.

I do need to build more RGs, though. I've only built the RX-78 and the GP01fb. The rest of the line I'd just as soon look for a MG, to be honest.

except the zakus
my fingers don't want to build any more 2.0 zakus

IBO isn't the only exception

AGE had wonderful HG's. Also the HGUC line has had some stinkers along the way and I know several people who defend the OO HG's like the Raiser and Seven Sword G.

You're not wrong.

Never had a problem with v fins but man do I hate the amount of stickers you need to have the basic detail of the kit

Shaving is annoying because it takes concentration not to sand too much and you have to make both sides perfectly even. It's just tedious and a lot of effort. Same with having to mask off tiny detail parts paint. It just gets really tedious having to do all those things alongside extra detailing and seam removal.

I mean for an expert builder it is fine and fun, but I just don't have the time or heart to put that much behind a 1/144 kit.

Gunpla reddit is about to blow up because a female just posted her finished kit...but her face takes up most of the pic. Basically she is seeking attention and boy is she getting it

Oh man, I've been looking for 1/100 Virtue for a while too. I had to settle for 3rd party hongli in the end. No idea how bad the hongli version is. I've tried throne zwei hongli before and they're crap, couldn't even finish it. A friend keep saying bigger hongli is better which is why I bought 1/100 virtue hongli. Don't know when I'll get to make it though.

You know what? Fuck it. It isn't exactly what I wanted but I managed to track down a 1/100 Seravee Gundam for 3,000円

Buying that shit and bringing it back with me. I would rather have the 1/100 Virtue and I like the Virtue and Nadleeh a lot more, but the Serevee is a better No Grade kit and it comes with 2 1/100 Gundam to pose rather than 2 I can switch.

Not a big fan of Seraphim and the stupid face mechanic, but I like Tieria Erde and it will grow on me. Some day.

Looks like tomorrow is SEED Saturday. Another reaction post shall be made.

davidwhangchoi, I want to thank you again for helping me find some material to study the other night. It's really coming in handy!

Finished my Hyakuri from Iron Blood Orphans. Easy to build, and a unique enough design to be sure. Comes with an action base which is great for a $8 kit, but also because it cannot stand on its own with the backpack. Without it, it can stand just fine. The whole backpack booster thing allows for the arms to fold into it no problem. Still have not made the weapons and what not to mount those on the side, hence the hole on the booster lol. Either way a very stable kit, no lose parts or anything which is nice. Though admittedly a bit bland. Going to add a few extra details and colors some other time. Stuff like painting the eyes red and some extra lining on the backpack and a few other places should go a long way.

Not a bad way to spend a few extra hours at the office on a random Thursday haha.

Lightning Gundam Z 2 is next, a much more flashy kit than this one to be sure.

I think I'm done with Barbatos now, done the weapon and some panel line. I lost the grip for the gun somewhere in my desk so it's hard to pose using gun, I hope I can find it. sigh.

overall, I really like this kit, gonna take a break from gunpla for a week probably, need to finish MGS V already.hahaha

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
What disappointed you about it?

I thought it was pretty great and built on one of the best HGUC's around.

Probably the size. And I thought the separated mode would have a bit more detail, but that's just me nitpicking.

It was fun to build though.

Hmm, honestly those are pretty fair.

Granted the Size wasn't an issue as I'd always imagined that Bandai would just strap on the extra pieces on to ZZ instead of reworking the mold.

Plus to be honest I was disappointed because they went with the fair uglier Try On 3 over Tri Zeta. So I think that set me up for liking it more as opposed to actual Try On 3 fans.

I consider it the worst Metal Gear game I've personally played. I like Acid 2 more than it and out of the ones I've started it's the only one I haven't beaten.
I dislike V as well, but I do love ACID 1/2, in fact I prefer them to 3/4/5.

ACiD 2 is a trip.....just wish they had voice acting.

yeah loved it as well.
Don't let that comment fool you I loved Acid 2.

Solid 1-4, Twin Snakes, Acid 2 and MGR.
didn't like MGR... huge metal gear fan back from nes days... i couldn't get into the peace walker build your army by capturing soldiers... (maintain your messhall, lol), didn't finish peace walker. looks like some of that carried over to V.

though i want to play it bc it's hideo's final metal gear.

I don't really like 4 or PW and am both dreading and looking forward to playing 5 to see how badly it turned out. Most people seem to agree that the game itself is fun to play though...so it has something for me to look forward to.

At this point it's clear to me I love MGS in spite of Hideo and possibly thanks to the previous scenario writer from 1-3 and not because of him.

Heck even loved Zone 1 and 2, but anytime that man goes ham I just end up being like this shit is awful.

Knowing you you didn't like Quiet at all. Funny enough Quiet isn't the reason I dislike MGSV. Game just feels like bloated out incomplete shit when it comes to the narrative and mission design. I just stopped having fun with it and the grinding materials had a lot to do with that for me. I loved ZOE as well, kept waiting for a sequel. Maybe if I'm lucky Kojima will kickstart Quadrant of the Beginners.

Weirdly I can take or leave Quiet, she is whatever.

I don't feel that sexy women are some disgrace to be avoided, but if you want me to like said Sexy Woman she better be amazing or she is just another sexy woman.

I hate the open world design, and more so they threw away way to much potential. Getting Kiefer was worthless as he sounds bored and like the game is beneath him, all to wet Hideo's Hollywood thirst. they could have done some great stuff with Eli and the connection but completely threw that down the drain and honestly the characters in the game where just not as fun or enjoyable as Fox Hound or Dead Cell and Skull Face is not even in the same universe as awesome that Liquid and Solidus are.

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan of the open world design as well, not enough boss battles either. The game couldn't really hold too much of my attention cause I quit the game before I really even had to fight Sahelenthropus. I like the design of the metal gear at least, just not enough plot to keep my interested. Characters were boring too.

Yep.

Sounds like we had a very similar experience.

Sad to. I'd hoped that V would win me back over but it just wasn't in the cards.

haha sorry to bring back up gundam, (i've curbed my expectations for MGS V)

anyone ever seen this? a guy showed me this and said it's very valuable:

Never seen that before.

Valuable or not I'd pass on that one lol. I have three kids and I know I'd come home and they'd have torn it up like packing peanuts lol.

Wonder how many were produced.

Nice. I love unqiue kits or the exclusives.

To this day I still want to get my hands on Heine's custom Destiny, Wing Gundam Zero Pearl Coating and now Wing F Alba.

Plus the old LE 1/144's like the Leo Custom got.

It is very rare, I think it's from the mid or late 80s and basically near impossible to find like some of the 1/100 kits, 1/48 busts and HobbyJapan kits. Before I was born at least.

As a model it sucks tho because of the foam molding having foam texture. But it is supposed to be simple since it is accurate to the original art and back then you couldn't make a Mega Size 1/48 like you can now. Foam had to be used as a substitute to curb costs for the people who wanted such a big kit.

Definitely valuable for a collector, for a builder not so much unless you want a big challenge.

This is so stupid that I need it.
