So I just found out that I'll actually be getting 48fps 3D screenings here. I guess I have to watch this movie now, even if I don't care for it.
Do we know what type of screening the Star Trek preview will be attached to?

oh what the movie is 3 hours? wow, i thought making it a trilogy meant each movie was going to be ~2 hours.

Ladbrokes had the new trilogy odds on at 1-2 to surpass The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey at 1-4 to beat the final Rings instalment The Return of the King's worldwide takings of $1.11bn.

Seems a bit optimistic.
There were no Imax/3D/HFR options for the LOTR series/ROTK. It's easier to pull in bigger box office numbers when they're now charging significantly more per ticket on average.
There is no extra charge for HFR, but yeah 3D will give it a boost for sure.

For the last goddamn time. IMAX theatres can't play HFR versions of the film. Somebody sticky this fact somewhere.
Not referring to The two posts above me.
GreatnessGone.Honestly, I don't think most people know the difference between IMAX film theatres and Digital IMAX theatres... nor do they care probably. Especially since that's how IMAX seems to prefer marketing their brand these days. Can't you blame anyone?
Is Life of Pi supposed to be a good film? Only reason I ask is Empire Leicester Square are playing that during The Hobbit release week in their main screen 1 which has Dolby Atmos rather than The Hobbit. Great

Seems like a weird decision. You'd think they sell a lot more Hobbit tickets there...

Manchester printworks is a real IMAX theatre and they're doing the 3D HFR "IMAX" screening. I'm guessing they have a different projector. Which is why I find it weird that bfi aren't doing a HFR showing.
Don't mean too sound too negative, but I've always found surround sound in movie theaters to be mostly worthless. I really wonder if this Atmos crap is worth the hype.
It caught most people off guard. No one was expecting a TV spot with so many new scenes. How is this TV spot not up yet.
I made a thread about it and no one really cares, so I would say the general public agrees with the sentiment that audio = meh. Lol.

Edmond, this was you wasn't it?
Wait... What? You prefer stereo sound over Dolby Digital or DTS-HD?
