Really wish they'd hurry up and announce the not so secret PC version for order sincere
As much as the visuals are growing on me various animations just look plain bad
Like king's stance looking really goofy and benimaru's stance with thr way his fingers are sticking out make it look weird
Yeah there are some animations and models that shouldnt have made it to release.
But it guess that the dudes were working non stop to get it done.
Still, hella good gameplay.
Slightly off-topic but did they make any hand-drawn artwork for this game? It looks like even the box art is 3D renders.

Yeah the game does have some.
Here's some promo art by Hiroaki:

Thanks! There's not much...
I miss the artwork they used to make with the characters doing random stuff in non-battle settings. It gave insight into their personalities.
What kind of netcode does this thing have?
The sprites were super-expensive to make, so I'm not surprised that SNK did away with them.I'm only dissapointed that this game doesn't use pixel based graphics anymore... Everytime I think about KoF the first thing to came to mind are the amazing pixel art and animations.
I remember how much shit this game was getting after the reveal. Then again, you very rarely see such a graphical improvement over the development of a game. Usually it's the other way around.
- In reality, the project got off the ground around the time the game made its debut at California's PSX expo in Dec 2015. They received a lot of "responses" back then; it was because the game was barely even done.
- Oda notes that with larger companies, they can develop games using a method called a "Vertical Slice" where they complete a stage and a character or two and show it off for promotion. But when it comes to fighting games, using a Vertical Slice process takes up unneeded development time and SNKP isn't that big a company to begin with. So the devs worked on KOF14 using the traditional development method: when the game is fully done, it's fully done. So what was shown in the initial stages were.. actually what was being produced at the time.
- The trailers showing gradual graphical improvement over each release was exactly just that: the devs were working on them with trial and errors.

it still looks pretty average. but people have gotten over it. that and people get mad at you if you continually harp on it lol
i'm still not a fan of the actual art aesthetic but oh well. they kind of get a pass due to the amount of characters they have.
online just needs to be good.

Read the first four reviews and none of them really talk about the gameplay. Do any of then actually playing fighting games?

you will hear the classic Neo Geo SFX. Go into options to change from 3d - to classic 2D sprites.
Note: sprites will only work for Classic characters not new characters.
You wish sucka!

Kof. Ohh baby. Gonna get to you gurllll. Really want you in my worldddd.
So this will be my first KoF (outside of dicking around with older ones from humble bundle for a minute). What are some good tutorials that explain things to someone who's always been a SF and MK player?
dandy j's 98 tutorial is still very relevant
I mean, it doesn't need to be rollback, but I have zero faith in SNK to make good netcode. People can go on and on all they want about "SNK focusing on what matters," but if this has shit netcode then, lol.
Apparently there's a day 1 patch that is going to help with the online. I'm trying to hold out, because it will be a seriously useless fighter to me without online, but...Angel is my favorite SNK character ever and it's really hard not to just buy it. lol
A link would probably help

I was just thinking how you could make a school dance analogy comparing SFV and KoF XIV.
SFV is the most popular girl in school. Head cheerleader. Valedictorian. Perfect 10 body. Buuuuut, she's a total bitch. She goes to the dance with you, is even up for sex later but she's very demanding. Has you pay for EVERY little thing. Doesn't even treat you that well. After a while you wonder if it was all worth it JUST to have the most popular girl.
KoF XIV is the shy, nerdy girl next door. Not even close to a 10, but cute in her own down-to-earth kind of way. Much nicer and sweeter in person. She's a really clumsy and terrible dancer, and you'll have to deal with hecklers, but you have a great time and a lot of fun being with her.
Of course I'm not saying you HAVE to choose ONE, I just think it makes for a fun comparison. Just got the email from Best Buy that my Premium Edition is going to be ready tomorrow, but it'll be a lot longer before I can play it as I have no PS4
