The Last Guardian re-revealed at E3 2015! Up Yours Y2Kev!

:')

Man looking like PS3 game or not, that is pretty. All dem feelings flooding, when my phat PS3 died this game was one of the reasons I bought a slim PS3 LOL. I guess I'll be getting a PS4 in 2016.

Development pain really shows off in the trailer, super rough animations, dated textures, bland gameplay. It looks a bit of a mess honestly, but hey it's not dead at least

It does look less visually impressive than one might expect for being a PS4 exclusive, but the animation is gorgeous, and the emotional bond conveyed through motion and sound is what sells it.

I can't say I really know what the purpose is, other than dogbird just bailing the mischievous kid out of trouble. The gameplay does seem simplistic, but perhaps this trailer is at the very beginning of the game.

I have faith in the game. Faith took us this far, after all.

So we have gone from waiting 10 years for this game (6 from reveal, 10 from the last game) to almost immediately saying it doesn't look great. Predictable, and just terribly sad.

Still looks phenomenal to me. There is no fucking way this was accomplishable on the PS3. I'm stunned there are actual GAF haters who would posit that.

I have learned to give Ueda the benefit of doubt. I tried Ico under good recommendations but thought it looked like crap and that it wouldn't be anything special. When I finish with it it was one of my favorite PS2 games ever. When I got my hands on SotC I got it as soon as I could and play it with a friend in his house, we stood awake for 14 hours until we finish the game, we didn't even turn off the console or slept, it was one of my favorite memories in gaming and the game was just mind blowing became my favorite PS2 game and with time my favorite game ever, seeing TLG finally coming out is a bliss and I just want it to be half as good as SotC because if that holds then it would be better than 90% of all games I have been playing since I finish SotC for the first time. In Ueda I trust.

I had only heard the name up until now and had to check out what the fuss was all about. This does look incredibly good and different, very much enjoy the overall look and atmosphere of this trailer. I should add I've never played Shadow... or ICO either.

Holy shit just watched the gameplay video! Was it all scripted? If not then just dayum impressive AI. if it was indeed scripted then ok at least the set pieces and sequence were amazing!

Graphics were expected to look like this(it was designed with PS3 in mind), so i think they're gorgeous! The art direction is amazing. The only thing that i found a bit off was the collision detection. Hopefully they can polish it. Man 2016 is going to be a blast!

I was expecting something totally different from the reveal in 2007(?).
It looks fairly rough, and from what i see I'm guessing they were having a really hard time with the AI for the beast. What I'm most excited about is hearing the stories of development hell from this game. To be delayed by 9 years and look the exact same is not a good sign.
It's very underwhelming.

Everything about this looks pretty much perfect to me. I can't wait to see more. SotC is my favorite game of all time and I hope this can top it.

You should play both. They are among the best games on PS2, but a warning must be given they are not for everyone. Ueda is a particular kind of game director that will always go for a more minimalistic approach to game design, if you can accept that approach then be ready for some of the 2 best games you will ever play.

I think it looks amazing, exactly what I expected... And honestly, I prefer a strong art direction and a super smooth framerate to a game pushing for the PS4 visual limits running at 15fps.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I'm just relieved that it still perfectly evokes that incredible original trailer.

Environment stuff was scripted events, thats the game. Not e3 demo scripted, scripted design, its the entire point of the game, it will be an entire game world full of tightly scripted events of ever increasing sophistication and granduer discovered and activated by player exploration/interaction/curiosity/agency. Its the entire point of the game.

AI was not scripted, it was real time responses. Thats also the game.

One of the greatest days in a long.... long time. Seeing The Last Guardian as the first game on Sony's E3 line-up and now on the US Playstation Blog There are no words... Well I have a few actually... but they're better left in image form.

Genuinely happy for you. Try to understand what is it all about. If you have questions, just let me know.
Just played the first 30ish minutes. Liking so far. I already played and loved SoTC but It's cool that TLG seems more similar to the ICO style

Dear Brothers of Shenmue, The Last Guardian and FFVII Remake GAF.

In our finest hour, under a united banner we willed a miracle in to existence.

Let it be forever remembered that this banner was created BEFORE the Sony Conference by fellow brothers.

Let us not forget this day, for this call to arms may be needed once again.

If you played ico and sotc you can almost *feel* how this will play. It's not a game for everyone, its a slow, meticulous game, but it's so beautiful.
Now i understand what they are going for: its ico+sotc+set pieces. I will love it.

Was really hoping for a 2015 release date by the end of the demo while watching during the conference.

Ah well, we've waited this long.

Honestly I didn't like Ico's puzzles. This looks like something similar. But hey, hype, still gonna buy this game.

I'm happily eating crow tonight. Regardless of the dated look, this definitely looks like a game I want to play as I'm a huge fan of Team Ico's prior efforts. Bravo to Sony for finally looking like they'll deliver this game to us.

However, there is a high probability the game will end up being hot garbage. It's had a troubled development and with Ueda taking a back seat, Team Ico wasn't what it was. We may still end up with another Duke Nukem Forever at the end of this. Keep those expectations in check, people!

It's promising they didn't reuse Miller's Crossing music again this time though. That was the first sign this game was in major trouble back in 2009.

I don't get what "It looks dated" means. Was there some game 10 years ago that was like this? Don't be afraid to say it just looks boring because "it looks dated" doesn't make any sense. This game is one of a kind.

Wasn't that after the early leak though? I think that was a trailer that wasn't really meant for us to see.

I'm excited. I don't think we have much to worry about tbh.

Its not even almost.

I can already comprehend its intrinsic mechanics on its most fundamental level. At least the basic building block ones theyve shown here. Things like the puzzles involving catgriffin eliminating enemies for the boy, and when and why (gameplay wise) you need to feed the companion are still a bit vauge, because they havent been comprehensively and categorically displayed like with what we have here.

I also wonder which other games makes this one look dated.

I agree. Its pure team ico. As i said, not for everyone. I can see a lot of people biting for the hype and feeling disappointed. It's totally my kind of game though.

Okay now let's see the PS4 version!!

(Seriously if Trico dies I'm personally going to find whatshis-name-its-been-so-long-i-forgot and give him a knock on the head)

I also wonder which other games makes this one look dated.

I think it looks nearly identical to the PS3 version from the initial E3 reveal, myself. I don't think the visuals have been upgraded much, if at all since the first reveal, which maybe is what others are trying to say. Maybe I'm wrong, but when I saw it I went 'that looks like a PS3 game.'

I'm sure some comparison shots will come out later to calm fears, though.

The one thing I didn't like about this is that it was kind of a non-puzzle. They could have made the same jump without pushing the structure down.

That may make more sense in the context of the game though.

Looks to me like the animal was frightened or possessed in that object's presence so they couldn't have progressed.

I'm surprised this thread is so small. Even though it was only a couple minutes of gameplay, ppl in the predictions thread were saying even a trailer would be mad hype.

SUPER tempted to rent Ico + SotC on PSNow. I have the HD collection but my PS3 died and I never got to play Ico and only got halfway through SotC :\\.

Looks great, but I hope the other puzzles and platforming make a bit more sense. The first part where the dog thing jumps across, why didn't the kid just get on his back and jump across as well? At least the next part explained why the progression was halted as it was scared of the thing, but that first part just sort of broke that particular logic that the kid couldn't get across to the other side.

It already makes complete sense.

It had nothing to do with making the jump. Watch again, observe, forget the last decade of conditioning, observe, and see.

Looks underwhelming. All these years in development and this is what it looks like? I still think they couldn't get this running well on the PS3 and that's why we didn't get it.
