The Last of Us |OT| It Can’t Be For Nothing (Spoilers)

Make a spoiler thread for only the intro? That would be neat.

Well, yes and no. There is not much discussing about the intro. But i think it is a step forward in gaming storytelling.
I mean, How many games made a lot of people react like this?

Ok I'm just gonna say I did cry at the intro because I was struggling to hold back my emotions. And yes, my hands were trembling, my chest felt tight, and I just sat there in complete awe of what just occurred.

I think the intro ends breaking an old taboo of not only videogames, but also movies. Something that is not easy to watch, let alone produce. I think that's an interesting thing to discuss and i can't think about any other forum to discuss it.

If i was a full member, i'd have already created it. As someone that wants to write scripts for videogames, i find it interesting.

dat
subway clicker
sequence. Shit was intense.

I normally hate stealth, and I kept dying and dying and dying. But it was surprisingly an enjoyable section, rather than FUCK THIS GAME type of feeling.

Also this game WAS incredibly fucking boring. That intro part, and early demo parts was a fucking chore that felt disjointed and just bleh.

But once you have to go find Bill the game changes. I'll be honest. I went to bed last night at the forest section. An I honestly felt a bit disappointed. It didn't really feel enjoyable. An the game's pacing felt a bit meh also.

But this whole Bill section has really broughten this game from a 6/10, to a 9/10 for me. If the game keeps this level of pace and excitement than I'm incredibly excited for what's in store.

It took me ages to realise that you don't have to tap square repeatedly to strangle. I think I played for about 2 hours before I found out.

In most stealth games, I reload the checkpoint if I get spotted. In this, I just fight them head on because the melee combat is so good.

What a great feeling to know that after 2 hours in I still have about 15 hours left. I will play it on a harder difficulty on my next playthrough but nothing will be like the first experience.

So is the general consensus that the game is too easy on normal? I'm at 89.29% downloaded and I'm planning on being at 100% within the next hour so I'm trying to settle on a good difficulty before I play it and screw up trophies.

They did it....

I didn't think I'd actually happen but it did.

Last of us has no booklet.

Except for an online pass and naughty dog stickers.

the only moment i almost shat myself was an unintended one

i had just jumped onto a lower platform, the camera was looking behind joel and zoomed in quite close - all of a sudden i hear these deafening scurrying footsteps and elle comes running in and jumps down, she was a blur and looked like a clicker so i panicked and started swinging a pipe at her

the partner ai is crazy

I dont understand how do i upgrade?

There are gears you can find. These gears are like upgrade points for your weapons.

There are work benches scattered around the game. They are a few and far between so don't miss them.

You also need to level up your gears which you can find scattered around the world.

Am I the only one LOVING how the camera works in cutscenes?

You can see little twitches as if someone was actually filming.

Marvelous.

What's going on in that picture? Or just a nice little screenshot? I need to get a capture card at some point.

Just woke up, is it safe to play the game now? Still heart broken I lost nearly two hours of progress, I had scoured damn near every corner.

Holding down TRIANGLE to grab all the stuff in the area at once is one of the most important features. On the other hand, it's fun to watch Joel grab stuff like a crab.
Clickers are frustrating as fuck.
I save my mollies for clicker moments when I want to save time, although they are fun to deal with stealth-wise. Throw a bottle or something, let the clickers congregate, molly.

2 hours 20 minutes in says 21% done. Having fun but gotta put it down. I think I got food poisoning or something. OH JOY!

Need to check out the MP soon so I know to sell the sights and sounds code or not.

Mine was the first time Ellie tries to
whistle
. That noise freaked me out.

That and when I was happily unloading shotgun shots on clickers in the
hotel basement I turn around and see a fucking Bloomer.

This game made me forget League of Legends and brought me back to console gaming.

Holy fuck at the clickers sound perception btw.

I left one in a room because I decided killing him would be a waste of time. I was pretty far away, got attacked by a sprinter and decided to shoot him.

Next thing I know that damn clicker was getting closer and closer by the sound of things, but there were two openings and I could not tell which one he was going to come out off.

Damn the suspense.

Yup I've seen them run into clickers etc, really hurts the game.

Honestly I think it is a godsend.

Imagine you're trying to sneak past a clicker or some guys and they spot Ellie or someone else and they ruin it?

Would you like an escort mission the entire game?

Would you like to relive Resident Evil 5 a game that would've been pretty darn good if not for that AI partner ruining it?

This game would be worse if the enemy AI could spot the friendly AI.

Yeah it breaks the immersion, but makes the game so much better.

A much better way for the devs to have handled the AI in stealth sections would be to have them teleport to predetermined "safe" areas when you're not looking at them instead of having them freaking run right in front of the infected. Might make sense that a little girl is much more stealthier compared to a burly old man.

okay maybe I am missing something, but is there a way to move faster while crouched?

Trying to move between cover feels kinda shitty going as slow as you do, yet your AI guys zoom around while crouched. I must be missing something.
