Anyone have a hard mode save that's Spring or later that they'd be willing to upload? The autosave bug ate my save and I really don't feel like starting over when I get home from work today. I don't care about trophies.

Oh, the game has been superb since then, but it's not quite Resident Evil 4 quality. Then again, it is my favourite game of all time, so that's to be expected.

The game is not as good as RE4. But I still feel comparisons are warranted in regard to getting that strategic vibe from the combat that I haven't seen since RE4.

Just retrieved Ellie for the first time... That opening chapter...hit me harder than the walking dead, still didn't cry though. I'm a monster.

How about not spawning me into game that have already started. my 'first day' I get put on a team with only 3 people that have obviously been getting it's ass kicked. Another guy leaves, so I leave too and that's a day and my whole clan is already beyond repair.

I don't know if it's supposed to be part of the 'feel' of the game put putting a rifle crosshair on a guy and shooting needs to damage them more often.

Yeah, it's not RE4 quality across the board, but it does have some advantages. I'd argue the actual presentation, story telling, and audio are all much better than anything in RE4, for instance. It also has a more modern control system.

The overall game design and scenario flow of RE4, though, is really just outstanding. That's what allows it to remain so damn good.

I have a normal mode save that i can upload with the game finished. You can select chapter from the menu and play any chapter on any diffuculty.

I know you can't use the listen functionality. It wouldnt surprise me if it had less supplies and damage is even tougher.

To add on to this, is there for sure extra damage or whatever? I literally have used listen mode once (the tutorial) and am probably gonna turn it off.

Side note: let's go get me a PSN card so I can get the season pass!

Don't quit matches and your clan would have been fine. You also get a good bonus for joining a match late.

did resi4 have like 2 hours of pressing forward and pressing triangle to lower ladders though, which makes the game almost unreplayable? did it have like, kind of broken combat (broken in a way that favors the player)? did it have checkpoints every 30 seconds?

edit: Also where is my mercenaries mode or other optional modes. No joke actually, I think an optional mode where you have limited resources and have to do an objective (kill all enemies, kill all enemies without being detected, get to the exit, etc) on a map (with no checkpoints, with scoring/time ranking) could be cool.

I think I am done with this game. The combat mechanics are just to clunky for me. (and this may be due to the fact I have not tried to play a shooter with a gamepad since I slogged my way through Uncharted 3) The game also seems to have taken a much more combat heavy approach at this point as well which does not bode well for my sanity.

Trying to play the game stealthy has made me want to pull my hair out. Getting spotted seems very arbitrary and I swear I have had guys spawn in behind me that were not there before. Sometimes I am able to walk up to someone and choke them out no problems, but other times they spot me as I repeat the exact steps I took before.

The game looks great, but I can't help but feel I have seen this story a hundred other times before. Almost all of the major story beats so far have been very predictable. Really the only fantastic thing I have seen from the plot and character side is Ellie's random interactions with things or her trying stuff (like the whistling).

Gonna sit down one more time with it though, but if that ends with me wanting to throw a controller I am just going to take it back and find something I enjoy playing instead.

Finished the game on hard mode. The second half was unbelievably good, well worth the hype I think.

yeah, after the uncharted series I wasn't gonna buy this game, so I watched a playthrough on twitch. the second half convinced me to get this game, even if I hate the shooty bits!

The multiplayer seems really terrible after about 30 minutes. None of the mechanics seem to work. they need to get rid of the wounded state. I got caught in a firefight outnumbered, and everytime I got someone the whole team would just revive them making it pointless. The punching is messed up too. I shot someone, had full health, ambushed them, punched first, and they still won with both of us slamming square. We had a member of our team stealth killed right in front of us, had 3 people run up and punch him and he still just runs away full speed without getting stunned or slowed down.

It feels like there are 1-2 ways to exploit the combat and that's already all anyone wants to do.
It reminds me so much of StrangleHold MP.

I just played the MP for 8 hours straight with my friends, time of our fucking lives. It's all about team work. Also, you might have run into people with armor.

Oh come on, there's not an actual 2 hours of that.

Some criticism he has said is vaild while some i disagree.

Why don't you try lowering the difficulty, if you are having trouble. Also try not to approach this as a shooter, its stealth that's the key. Throw bottles and bricks to draw enemies attention away for you and sneak up from behind them and choke and don't be afraid to do melee attacks with square. Also use sprint to get away if you are in a tight spot and hide and start over.

Is it grey and brown from start to finish?
Does it have insta-kill qte's that come out of nowhere even during cutscenes?
Do you spend half the game escorting the most annoying character ever?

RE4 is a milestone but please can we stop pretending it's fucking perfect?

Enemy encounters aren't great in this game, whichever way you decide to play. I'm probably four or five hours in and I don't understand how people are recommending gunfights against the infected. I have never had more than 15 bullets for either my standard pistol or revolver. Even if I did have more than enough ammo to not worry about running out, I don't trust my aim with the joysticks to stop a clicker before it reaches me and tears my throat out.

Cutscene - Joel kicks in wooden door

Gameplay - have to use a precious shiv to break certain wooden doors*.

AGHHHH, annoying.

*maybe they are reinforced.

Ps. is there any silent way of taking out Clickers without a shiv?

Not that I know of. I usually just try to dodge them completely, if possible.

I would LOVE to see how those complaining about the stealth play, I so far have not had any issues with the stealth, only been spotted when I know I was at fault.

Use square button with object (wooden plank/pipe/brick).

Ah, sorry, I meant by sneaking up on them. Seems like shivs are the only option. Can't strangle them.

edit: Doesn't using a melee weapon when undetected count as a violent (i.e loud) kill? Must try it.

Just trying to avoid them atm but I like to really explore the areas so prefer to take enemies out silently first.

Oh come on, there's not an actual 2 hours of that.

Please, count up all of the inane bullshit in this game (moving a box to get on top of something, getting a pallet to move a character across water, boosting another character up so they can pull you up, and moving ladders around) and tell me that it doesn't add up to a decent amount of time. Not even counting the parts of the game where you are basically just holding forward and seeing beautiful video game art assets. That shit was so tiring, I would have honestly rather seen a load screen honestly if they couldn't find a better way to mask it.

Don't pass gaas, it is your Destiny!
Playing this on a bard new ps3 (top loader). They lip sync is out of wack some times, character models some time mess up (in the opening when truck flips the guy stays in his seat after he kicks the window in) a video didn't load and I had to quit out and re do the area.

Wtf?

Downloading a bunch of stuff so gonna give it a break and see if that's the cause but dam what a let down.

Not at once, but spread out? Probably. Especially early on, it frequently forces you to slow walk, and that kind of stuff kills replayability. The presentation, acting, environments, etc. are all outstanding but in a comparison to RE4 that's part of why that game was so good. The game just throws you into it, the village is an amazing intro that is all pure gameplay based. It never really slows down, AND manages to be ~20 hours doing this. I always gush about RE4 but I really don't think we will ever get a similar game on that level. It also had a wealth of content after you beat the game.

I love the stealth, it's simillar to the uc cover system, without the stickiness. Really love the fact that they use their hands to anchor against the object, gives the feel that they're in cover.

Game is amazing so far, visuals are top notch, VA is great, and the surprise of it all to me so far is the MP is incredibly fun. You have to be resourceful online, and work as a team. It'll be very difficult to fully appreciate survivor mode without an orgranized group of teammates. I had 3 friends over last night and we did not lose once, it was so intense.
