So glad I waited to replay, completed on PS4 Pro at launch and playing through it again since they patched 60fps for PS5 was on my to do list. I guess I will wait now!

That is a new low, comparing rather to iPhone’s “throttling gate” than anything else. They did released a half-baked patch for PS5 features, yet they locked “power of the SSD” behind a paywall. That’s what it is.

Thank god that plot was so awful that even great gameplay did not prevented me to abandon this game.

Traumatic experiences (or escaping zombie horde) connect people. You can't be on your toes 24h/7. Every survivalist fails and this was Joels mistake.
This mistake is what gave him character and human characteristics. He wouldn't do that in the first game. He did that 5 years later because he is not the same Joel. He knows again what it is to feel love and care and that makes people weaker and less rational.
Not in a world where traumatic experiences happen almost everyday.

Living i the small city is not an excuse because they still go on patrol and risk their lives, maybe you forgot the section where you patrol with ellie and joel and they have a big fight.
Getting soft get you kill, and joel now has a reason to live in ellie so if anything, he is gonna be even more cautious than before when his life had no meaningl

This os not a normal world where a zombie horde is an extraordinary event.

If it’s nothing then stop complaining?
What’s the big deal?

I don't think anyone is complaining about the price. It's just annoying that these companies don't care about their own games unless there's an extra buck for them. Random nobodies in their basement are doing more to preserve and keep these games up to date on modern hardware by releasing free patches for games like Bloodborne or DriveClub. Ask yourself why we haven't seen an official patch for Bloodborne.

This flyer seems to imply the upgrade path is digital only. Or am i reading this wrong?
$10 would be a small price to pay if i can upgrade my disc. I never got round to playing this so this would be a great release for me.

Can't wait to play his next magnum opus.

Normal developers spend $50 million to make story focused 20 hrs game.

He is a special one so gets $200 million and unlimited time. Obviously he is a cut above.

Which your suggesting is a true remake instead of a new game.

Seems like your worried about Druckman making another game that's a critical and a retail it. Not to mention pushing hardware sales to boot.

Why is that?

never did. kinda thought it would release for pc

maybe they will but this time they want it give it more time so it is not broken like remake on PC

no ideas... but sad nonetheless

I think it's still coming though. Hopefully shortly after.

Edit: When it comes to releases the console is still their top priority. That's something PC users have to keep in mind.

That’s the sad state of the industry

Can someone tell me what they have actually remastered?

A host of graphical improvements bring the beautiful-yet-dangerous world to life.
(That we are not gonna disclose because we know they are extremely minimal)

Well at least this upgrade seems less cash-grabby than the tsushima one.

10 golden coins is nothing, it’s like 2 cups of coffee where I live. And that’s the entire point. They do everything and anything to nickel and dime their customers. Sad.

They are adding a new mode and overhauling the visuals for PS5

$10 is not nickel and diming for what does require more effort on their part

You can obviously upgrade the physical version but the upgraded game will be digital only.

Overhauling visuals? Where? Maybe I missed something.

Games are getting free extra modes all the time. Especially if they reuse levels and assets from the base game. From indie to 3rd party developers. I’d expect the same from a premiere first party studio.

It’s getting the ps5 part one improvements which were an improvement over tlou2 on
Ps4

Some games get free upgrades, that’s not really standard though. Most games aren’t getting upgrades on ps5 to begin with

Looks very similar to when I played the patched version on ps5. Il wait for pc version for ultrawide and higher frame rates.

Is fidelity mode 4k still 30 fps or they managed to use the full power of ps5 to get at least a 40hz mode?

A series with two mainline entries but three remastered versions. It's becoming a meme at this point.

I'm still buying it but they need to pump the brakes on the rehashing and focus on new entries or DLC.

(1) People who didn't play the game before / weren't familiar with the franchise before / those who want to play the game after watching HBO's TLOU Season 01 and Season 02
(2) People who want to experience the game again with PS5 features (like me)
Well, then more power to you. To me, this product really seems strange.

How many other companies put in nearly the same amount of work overhauling their IP?

I can’t think of any

I can’t think of any other IP that has 2 original games and 3 remakes / remasters of these games. That’s ridiculous.

Look at free updates done to The Witcher 3 for a good example.

As a first party studio, they should offer this 100% for free for people who already own the game.
It released 6 months before the launch of PS5. They could have had a free next gen upgrade ready to go when the PS5 launched. But no, they are using it now as a means to fill a hole in their release schedule especially with Factions 2.0 being abandoned or whatever the fuck is going on there.

CDPR with CP2077. Next gen update AND totally rehashed the game with 2.0 all for free. No Man's Sky with all the countless post launch free content updates.

Sounds like they don’t need a game preservation division

And your beloved Sony doesn’t? Playing Bloodborne at 720p and 30FPS on PS5 Pro sounds amazing. C’mon man, you know exactly what I mean.

The good news is that more and more of their first party offerings are finding their way to PC, where they will be preserved forever.

Why do you keep bringing up bloodborne? It plays on the ps5 and rumors suggest it’s getting the Bluepoint treatment

They needed to, game was busted for years. 2.0 is what it should have launched at

That’s not the same situation at all
The game was pretty much fixed well and truly before the next gen update let alone the 2.0 update. And I watched the missus play it at launch on the PS4 and it was mostly fine. I platinumed NMS at launch too, with no issues at all.

To the masses, it doesn't. Synergy is an important part of cross-pollination of media properties.

Oh yeah, I forgot that they recently talked about the next season of that series... oh well. Makes sense, then.

To me (and this is just my own opinion), TLoU2 killed all the interest I had in any future Naughty Dog games, so I am out of the loop. Well, have fun!

The game systems weren’t well balanced. That’s mostly what was addressed after the first major patch
