And your beloved Sony doesn’t? Playing Bloodborne at 720p and 30FPS on PS5 Pro sounds amazing. C’mon man, you know exactly what I mean.
Demand dictates supply.

The Last of Us sold 10 million+ copies and warranted a remaster.
Bloodborne sold 3 million copies. Why would Sony invest in a niche product? It doesn't make sense financially.

Horizon Zero Dawn also sold 20 million+ copies. It'll also get a remaster/remake, because why not when there clearly is a demand for that.

Sony isn't catering you or me. Sony is catering the masses.

Calling Soulslike games a niche after Elden Ring is seriously laughable.

Oh yeah, I forgot that they recently talked about the next season of that series... oh well. Makes sense, then.

To me (and this is just my own opinion), TLoU2 killed all the interest I had in any future Naughty Dog games, so I am out of the loop. Well, have fun!
I can understand that, and actually I respect that. I'm a strong believer that strong art is divisive.

To me, I have loved Naughty Dog since The Last of Us. And TLOU 2 made me fall in love with Naughty Dog once again, just considering the fact that they were willing to tell that story. Even if that game were a dud, just that fact alone would have been enough for me. It's a cherry on top that the game itself is a 10/10 in terms of animation, visuals, combat, NPCs, etc.

So I'm really looking forward to playing it again on day one.

I hope you also get treated to a news soon for a game that you're looking forward to the most.

4k/60 and raytracing on PS5 at the same time??

It should be easily doable.1,8 TF system vs 10 TF System.

Man ... 🤦‍♂️

Bloodborne came after Elden Ring? No.

Or are you saying that Elden Ring's success would mean that every Souls like game would be selling like hot cakes?

In that case, I reckon Demon's Souls (PS5) would be getting close to 20 million copies by now, right? Because the game looks way better than Elden Ring, is a FromSoftware original, and has a PS5 remake version - just like what you're asking for Bloodborne.

How many copies has it sold by now?

No, it didn’t. But if they released it on PC today it would do numbers. Together with re-release on PS5 and free upgrade path for existing users.

So you’re just talking about a quick and dirty port? I mean you can already play it on ps5 it just isn’t enhanced

When Sony does enhancements they tend to put more effort in and charge for it

Definitely buying this, Part2 was an absolute Stormer of a game experience, fuck me I was up off my seat yelling at the screen in parts I was so invested in the story, £10 upgrade is worth it to replay, just waiting on the Pt1 remake dropping in price so I can replay it

Well, yeah. When I upgrade my GPU all my games scale to the new hardware. I know it’s not possible on console by default but that’s what I mean by game preservation for first party. Nobody wants to play fucking Bloodborne in 720p and 30FPS on PS5. Again, a random dude in his basement did more to preserve this game than Sony.

That should be the bare minimum. If they want to charge for extra game modes or whatever, why not.

Just a different philosophy

Sony doesn’t upscale their games usually, they tend to leave them as is or if they feel there’s demand they will put more effort in and charge for it.

A bloodborne remake wouldn’t surprise me

Which your suggesting is a true remake instead of a new game.

Seems like your worried about Druckman making another game that's a critical and a retail it. Not to mention pushing hardware sales to boot.

Why is that?

Druckmann making a new game isnt concerning to me. That's what I expect from him.

Though I suspect TLOU franchise is getting Mario / Halo (X360 era) treatment with a lot of releases.

Someone definitely informed Sony that sticking with franchises is how you build and grow a long lasting franchise.

So i suspect a remake of this remaster has to be on cards.

2018 - Red Dead Redemption 2
2021 - Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy
2022 - Grand Theft Auto 5 - PS5/XS version
2023 - Red Dead Redemption (re-realease)
TBA - Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5/XS (Rumored)
TBA - Grand Theft Auto 6

Yet no one calls Rockstar creatively bankrupt. They just call their ports lazy.
I dunno where you've been, but Rockstar has definitely been callied out on their output in the recent decade.

It’s not philosophy, it’s a business strategy.

That saddens me. Best feeling offroad bike in any game, ever. Such an under appreciated gem!

How many other companies put in nearly the same amount of work overhauling their IP?

I can’t think of any

Microsoft?
Free FPS boost for many BC games, resolution upgrades for a decent selection of BC games, multiple first party Xbone games with free next gen upgrades?

Hello games with multiple free patches for years?

Metro Exodus adding 4K textures, lighting upgrades and Ray tracing as part of a free next gen upgrade?

I want them to take their sweet ass time for the PC version and avoid the shit show PART 1 release was on PC.

Not that I'm confident tho, last update for PART 1 was in August and it's apparently still far from perfect (Better but still nowhere where it should be).

But to be fair, it has to be said that the picture is missing all the content that R* has released for GTA Online over the years. These updates were not just stupid skins. Some of them were really elaborate updates. In the beginning it felt like there were updates every month and even years later a lot of work was put into it. I'm referring specifically to things like the Doomsday Heist, Casino Heist, Cayo Perico etc.. Of course, that also ties up resources. This, in combination with the ever-increasing demands of players and developers, massively extends the development time. If you just look at the scope of RDR2 and compare it with GTA IV or even earlier games, for example, you can see that clearly.

In my view, this picture is therefore not a meme, but simply shows the change within the gaming industry in combination with AAA tiles. Sure, R* could now go all COD with GTA, RDR or the other IPs. But hardly anyone will play that shit.

Just woke up. OP has been updated with more details from the PSBlog article on the remastered version. Also, cheers M Musilla for the gifs! I've added them to the OP! :D

Oh and I forgot about the tough crowd we usually get in tlou threads: 'You know, Ellie, we really are The Last of Us Part II Remastered' 😜

There's a reason why I started my timeline in 2018 because it's something you didn't really hear within the past several years.

Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2019
Now you have Grand Theft Auto 6 in 2024.

When those remasters released, you didn't see people in nearly every comment section say, "creatively bankrupt" because they knew GTA6 was on the horizon.

People are just ignorant to even realize that Naughty Dog has specifically stated that they're working on a new game and Factions was close to being released.

Deacon liked his wife's ass and he actually had a measurable amount of testosterone.

You know this shit doesn't fly under modern sony.

Checking all available materials, No Return looks like an expanded horde mode with different objectives and boss fights. YES PLEASE

Lovely stuff. It’s got to be the best upgrade that Sony has produced for one of their games so far. I’m more than happy to pay the £10 for the upgrade, but I may even get that physical edition.

Okay much better than I hoped for.

$10 is an absolute no brainer for me.

All those additions and improvements for the best game of all time sound absolutely lovely. Also perfect way for people who haven't played it on PS4 yet.

The only real bad news here is that I don't have an OLED TV, but a regular Sony 4K HDR.

If you find yourself having to twist what someone says to make a point? then you know you probably shouldn't even be making that point.

he said bloodborne, not soulslike games in general. And the context within which he said that was sound, directly comparing it to other games that got remasters (which naturally you chose to ignore).

If you did want to make an argument though, you should have brought up demon's souls that got a full-on remake. to which someone like me would have said, maybe that remake shows the level of effort Sony would need to put into Bloodborne.

10 bucks to upgrade is a joke. I bought the game 2 years ago and played it on Ps5. No way in fuck that the game is that much better. And I wouldn't want to play it anyway.

If they gave it away for free people like you would not play it so you are kind of making the point for them pushing a bit more and justify a $10 fee for a remaster that is also PS5 native. We will see what they do with comparisons, but I doubt the only thing changed is DualSense integration…

TLOU2 is coming in with added content though.

And you’re talking about emulation and fps boosts for BC to this?

You can already play TLOu2 at 60 fps… it was a free patch…

And can we just get down to the real point here, which is Xbox has to fight a lot harder for interest and eye balls. It makes sense that they gotta move their asses and offer stuff the competition isn’t otherwise might as well shut down the whole gig, because otherwise nobody is buying their shit. This is the kind of stuff that is dictated by the market.

You aren’t entitled to free shit. People who bought a dvd aren’t entitled to the blu ray. “Give me 4K criterion for free bro” Jesus Christ. Some gamers are entitled kids.

While I see your point, I wouldn't categorize the extra content for GTAO as standard stand alone games.

Also, I disagree. I believe very well the image is worthy of displaying how Rockstar has lost its touch in these modern times. I'm not suggesting that they should've gone the sloppy Activision route of annual releases. However, observe their track record from 1999 to 2012. They used to have a consistent streak of varied, risky, creatively rich and experimental works.

That's not really a fair comparison. Hate it or love it, R* has at least been doing a lot of content for Online. And GTA VI will most probably be out in the next 2 years.

I mean I love Naughty Dog, but given their MP project is in development hell, when are we even going to see a new SP game from them? Are they even going to announce anything about new projects in the next 2 years? I sure hope so, because it's getting ridiculous.
