Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Part-II-Remastered-PC-Specs-Chart-Copy-1.png

This version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered is optimized for PC with Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support(1), AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation(1), VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate option(2), DirectStorage support, and more. It has been developed with features designed specifically for PC, including adjustable Texture Quality, LOD Distance Range, Volumetric Quality, Shadow Quality, Ambient Occlusion, Reflections Quality, and more.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC will feature support for Ultrawide monitors(3), so players will be able to take in the stunning vistas of Jackson and the harsh streets of Seattle with gameplay supported in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and even 48:9 resolutions with compatibility for triple-monitor setups. And take in every chapter of Ellie and Abby’s journeys in stunning 4K resolution(2) while playing either via various supported controllers as well as keyboard and mouse controls. And immerse yourself in the story with 3D audio surrounding you in every tense moment of action and each quiet scene of exploration.(4)

Additionally, coming at launch for The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC will be a host of new content for our fan-favorite No Return mode. Two new characters are being introduced for the mode – The Last of Us Part I’s Bill and Marlene. Like with each No Return combatant, these characters offer their own unique playstyles, and should offer both new and returning fans an exciting new opportunity to test their mettle. Bill is a “Smuggler” playstyle who can access a custom pump shotgun from dead drops, and receives double rewards from drops as well. He's stronger against melee attacks but can't dodge. Marlene, meanwhile, features a “Risk Taker” playstyle that includes a Custom Assault Rifle, “All or Nothing” gambits, can reroute her No Return path once per run, and more.

The game says it will support DLSS 4 at launch also. 4080 should be running much faster than 60 fps with the upscaler.

4 new maps as well. Hell yeah. Don't sleep on no return mode, PC bros!

Four new maps have also been added to No Return. Overlook, which is set high above the city of Seattle and features plenty of verticality, is the memorable site of a Seraphites encounter in the campaign. School is, during the campaign, the abandoned elementary school in which Ellie and Dina face off against the W.L.F. Streets is set in the overgrown Seattle neighborhood of Hillcrest, while Nest will be familiar to players who have played as Abby through an Infected-infested building

Weird that PS5 native game (part 1) has the same requirements for ultra/4k/60fps as PS4 game (Part 2) with almost no improvements...

Another "amazing" port incoming.

I'm confident that no one can take you seriously.

TLOUP2 was ported to PS5. You're referring to Part 1 as a native game, despite Part 2 Remastered also being a native PS5 game rather than the original TLOUP2 on PS4 a game that ran at 1080p30 on base PS4...

You continue to be clownish.

The first one ran like shit out of the gate, i'll be waiting for impressions before jumping in.

So the first game was done by Iron Galaxy and this one is done "In collaboration between Iron Galaxy and Nixxes" which to me suggests that Nixxes came in and cleaned up the port after the first game released as a mess.

My theory, which will maybe be reinforced is that Nixxes had to split their attention between Spider-Man 2 and The Last of Us Part 2 in order to get the game ready for release in time for Season 2 which is why Spider-Man 2 released in the state that it did.

I hope it comes out with better DirectStorage support from the jump.

A 3070 for 1440p60 is a good sign, but doesnt actually mean anything if the port is still garbo.

What's so weird about it? The PS5 remaster of Part 2 is near identical to Part 1. Outside of animation quality, some might argue that part 1 looked slightly better. With regard to the quality of the port though, don't know. But I don't think that's related to the specs.

If true doesn't bode well, ill be hanging fire.

Not in a desperate need to play it to be honest. Still balls deep in KCD2 and the patch for POE2 is due in a couple of weeks.

Hopefully it does turn out better for those who are planning on playing at release.

Wrong.

IG only helped with smaller stuff, bulk of the development was done in-house by ND.

ND's In-house development:
As we began development in-house, we wanted PC players to experience an amazing story that truly lasts the test of time while maintaining the equally high-quality bar across both PC and PlayStation consoles.

Part 2 should be much lighter, it uses PS4 quality assets.

Part 1 was build around PS5.

Maybe, it's worth noting that in just over 12 months Nixxes has produced:

Horizon Forbidden West PC
Ghost of Tsushima PC
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Spider-Man 2
TLOU P2

That's probably just a bit too much for them. Before Sony bought them, they were doing like 1 project a year, sometimes 2 and sometimes skipping a year.

That they're pushing to get it out before the show airs is concerning but also potentially optimistic since they aren't delaying again like they had to last time, but then again, they didn't delay Spider-Man and they absolutely should have.

Got proof of assets that look worse on ps5 remaster of part 2 compared to part 1? Otherwise we are just talking hypotheticals. The whole goal for part 1 remake was to bring it on par for a consistent visual look. Not exceed.

I mean game looks the same on 2013/2016 hardware and 2020/2024 hardware. Part 1 has much better textures for example.

PS4 Pro version would look the same here, just in 30fps.

They didn't get a splash banner for the opening of the game for "a little bit of help". They also worked on the Legacy of thieves port. What they did and what Naughty Dog did, we'll never know exactly, but I don't think it's a fluke that the first game was a disaster and the second game they brought in Nixxes to do. Whereas God of War they let Jetpack Interactive do it themselves.

At this point you're trolling.

The game runs at 1080p30 on base PS4 and 1440p (upscaled to 4K) at 60 fps on PS5 or native 4K30 on PS5.

Saying it "looks" the same when it's at double the framerate and higher resolution, you destroy any credible you think you have and posting low res screenshots doesn't help your point at all.

I love No Return Mode.

The Nest, Streets, and the School are 3 locations I thought were missing from No Return mode and now they're finally in the game.

Marlene and Bill are good additions, but I was also hoping for Young Ellie.

Those "low res" screenshots are from 4k video in full screen.

PS4 version looks the same as PS4 Pro version and PS5 version. All of them use the same assets and only big difference is resolution. For PS5 Pro they just slapped PSSR on top.

I'm pointing quite obvious things, you are trolling with no arguments.

Dude, it's the same engine. Same effects. If anything, the levels are vastly bigger and more complex in part 2 compared to part 1. There are more systems at play. Going by your logic, Part 1 is a PS3 game, just rehashed with the latest engine's tech and AI. So why should it have higher requirements just for some (allegedly) higher res textures? If you are really keen on doing a meaningful comparison, let the game come out and then we can compare PC part 1 with PC part 2 with identical settings and see if there is any validity to your claim. I don't think there is, but we can compare it for science.

Also, FWIW, the "PS4 on PS5" is running the PS4 Pro code, which is 1440p at 60fps, not the 1080p of the base PS5.

IIRC PS5's Performance Mode also runs at 1440p, so them looking very similar is the least surprising thing. Since it's the same assets, the same resolution etc. Some effects and a better up-scaling solution is the only notable difference.

low resolution assets don`t suddenly become high res when the overall res rises. Old graphics still look old in high res.
Bojji is right here, from what we got to see so far the assets look untouched which makes this seem like more of a glorified performance patch than a remaster.

Also how does this need a 4080 for upscaled ps4 graphics@4k/60?

Torn on whether to get it on PC or PS5. The physical version is tempting for the collection but the freedom of the PC port and having it portable is equally tempting.

Wait for the PC port to come out for technical reviews. Part 1 had a very wonky launch which took months to fully iron out.

100% this. If you have waited this long, you might as well wait till reviews (and then some inevitable patches too) before deciding.

Yeah, you're probably right. You'd think Sony has learned their lesson with the first one (and their other broken PC ports) but wouldn't be surprised to see TloU 2 broken as well. It's a shame they are treating their PC effort like this. A total afterthought it seems.

I would think ND wouldn't make the same mistake twice as the first one's awful PC launch definitely hurt its sales. But stranger things have happened with Sony and PC launches, so... yeah... 🤷‍♂️

The biggest difference is image quality and framerate when you compare ps4 version to ps5 and pro.
Don't honestly need much more to be done to it.

Terrible game, Neil ruined the franchise. Not touching this ever again and its a shame because the gameplay itself is great but the story is pathetic
incredible game. Some of best gameplay ever in that type of game.
Animations and graphics are top notch. No other game combat animations are so smooth.
And the story is dividing as it is supposed to be. Dividing gamers by real emotions.
I personally loved it. The game won me over and I let go of my hatred by the end and it completely changed how I view the game.

All I am saying to future players of this - DOn't be afraid of your emotions. Embrace it and let the game take you for the rollercoaster. It's on purpose

I respect that you like it but honestly, I found so many plot holes and things that didn't make sense. The fact that Joel introduced himself to a group of strangers in the beginning of the game was so out of character and stupid. Abby has the charisma of a rock, and the fact that you have to play with woman Hulk for half of the game was an unbelievable stupid decision

I could go on about so many parts of the game that I hated but anyway, if someone enjoys the game good for them but for me the franchise is dead

yup this time I agree with you. THIS TIME there are no "ps5 assets" excuse.
THIS has to run on a 1050ti 4 GB as well as it did on PS4. even gow ragnarok actually runs somewhat comparable to PS4 on a 1050ti
forbidden west, GoT and spiderman 1 runs horribly on 1050ti. and excuse was always "it uses special assets for ps5 so it cant scale back to 4 GB GPUs like other ps4 games did"
this time no excuse. part 2 did not got any texture upgrade
and yet it still wants a 1650 to hit 720p low. I'm sure at those low settings textures will look 100x worse than ps4 running at 1080p/30 FPS. and 1650 is much faster than PS4.
countless ps4 games ran perfectly on 4 GB GPUs. i don't see what makes this game special. no "ps5 assets" excuse this time.

if rdr 2, gow, detroit become human, horizon zero dawn ran perfectly on 1050ti, so should last of us part 2

they're again doing that weird special "vram management implementation" that uses shared VRAM a lot and reduce your GPU performance by 40-50% even with texture presets that are worse than what PS4 uses.
