'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Horrible loading improvement is somewhat confirmed. Drew Thaler mentioned it on Twitter, I think. Even had a retort from Sucker Punch dev calling out the terrible load times on PS3.

It sounds like some of you are losing sleep over this. This is the same company that started development and shipped Uncharted 2 in 18 months.

Whats with Naughty Dog and the super menacing portrait photos recently?

It reminds me of SW: Episode 3 when Anakin converts to the dark side. ND have sold their souls to the devil, no wonder Uncharted 4 looks so damn good.

I hope the horrible initial loading is not there anymore, my PS3 would go into full jet engine mode during this start up and then cooled down after.

Me too. It shouldn't be since it's going to be installed on the HDD.

I'm actually debating cancelling my physical preorder in favor of digital. Am I going to want to switch this disk out of my PS4? Depends how active the multiplayer is going to be.

Game needs to go gold first.

What, why? No other games (aside from, eh, GTA4?) have needed to wait until gold before delivering media. I'd say it's more worrisome essentially nothing has been shown when this is supposed to be released very soon.

Because it is a month out and I'd rather them work to make it release on time instead of a 2 minute youtube video. If there was something to show you I'm sure they'd show you, they are as excited to get the game out as we are to get it.

I think worrisome is a little over the top, you wouldn't have all these tweets and then have the game fall on its face. That would be terrible PR for Sony and ND.

Funny. A bunch of spoiler thumbnails too with no spoiler warning.

Good job.

As someone who's played about 30% of this game, none of those out of context thumbnails mean anything to me nor will I even recall them a month from now when the game comes out. The spoiler threshold for some is kind of strange to me but whatever.

I hope so! I've not been seen anything from the singleplayer yet, just some pictures. But I've watched some multiplayer and it looks awesome :).

MP is really good, although I'm looking forward to doing the SP again in its new sparkly clothes, the mp is what i'm gagging for, played it again a couple of weeks ago with the new maps and it's bloody good looking on the ps3, I'm guessing it will be one of the best looking mp's this gen. Can't wait, luckily SE3 mp is pretty solid so that will tide me over for the month.

What are you worried about exactly? It'll be delayed? Performance issues? Naughty Dog going under?

Publishers dictate media releases, not developers.

Some posts read as if anyone who works at ND can record and release whatever they want, it's bizarre.

I'm not sure what media they could even release from it. It's The Last of Us on PS4. Take The Last of Us on PS3 and imagine it in 1080p at 60fps and whatever other enhancements.

Maybe they want to keep the actually depth of the improvements underwraps? Maybe they just don't have time to prepare media due to how close the release is and the fact they haven't gone gold yet?

It's a remake, they likely don't want to show anything until it's representative of what you'll be playing come the end of July. They showed plenty of media leading up to the PS3 release, so stop trying to act as if they're being secretive about a game we know nothing about.

A link that has "youtube" and "of us gameplay" in the link, posted in a thread "the last of us: remasterd" ... what could "of us" possibly mean in the context of the post.

WHAT COULD IT POSSIBLE BE?

Are you that cat that isn't good with computers?

What are people even arguing here? I mean shit GTAV released it's first direct gameplay footage 2 months from launch. I honestly wish some games would follow this example more. It's a port, and I'm sure they have their reasons.

You're a reliable source of entertainment. Also, you have to scroll down to see most of the spoiler-y stuff, while ignoring the titles that tell you, in plain English, that you're viewing walkthroughs. So...cat that's bad with computers it is.

Some people are genuinely concerned, while others are probably just itching to scrutinize whatever media is released so that they can compare them to Chloe screenshots from pre-rendered portions of Uncharted 3 to show that ND are totally overrated. Why? Because Uncharted 4, or something. I dunno.

Some worries about the performance yes, especially since the tweets implied they just reached a (stable?) 60 fps barely a month before it's to be released. If you consider manufacturing lead times, pushing so hard for the last bit of optimization this close to release is not instilling faith in me. Maybe I'm just pessimistic.

Bandwidth caps?
No, I'm okay in that department(I'm sure I'll be complaining with the length of the download though), but I never really considered whether the disc or digital version would have any difference between the two in terms of performance. Last year I got lucky with GTAV and settled with the disc version, which some people might remember was superior compared to the digital/fully installed version on both PS3/360. I'm just hoping it won't have similar issues, I'm not that tech savvy so I may just be worried over nothing.

I already preordered it on psn for that reason. I have 5 days logged in on the PS3 version. I'll be playing alone this time, since none of my friends have a PS4, but hopefully my absence will encourage them to jump to next gen before Destiny comes out.

Haha and of course we have defenders for this shit. Many people hold out for a PS4 version. Not everyone played the game when it came out you ignorants. One of the thumbnails is a major spoiler from the beginning. Oh and some people want to see gameplay but not getting major plot points spoiled.

But yeah keep white knighting brehs.

The tweets imply nothing of the sort, and your original claim was that they were hyping up the game rather than showing it.

The game not being done before it goes gold is pretty par for the course I would say....

Nothing to be concerned about.

If you're a parody account you can't be so obvious and call other people ignorants(sic). It's too obvious.

Everything on PS4 is installed directly to the hard drive so there will never be performance differences between disk and digital.

Regardless of when they achieved 60, and it wasn't just when these tweets happened obviously, I don't really see your point. Practically nothing on PS4 is perfect 60, if it's not, why is that a source of concern? If you only play games that never dip, I don't know what you're playing other than maybe Resogun.

One month before is a really good time to goes Gold... 15 days is fine and acceptable to be fair.

ND can work more two week yet... after that they can work with day one patch too.

Why the hell do people need pre-release video? That doesn't make any sense. You want to see an unfinished game why?

There's going to be tons of comparisons once it releases. There will also be thousands of streams and a fuckton of screenies.

For a community that mostly seems to despise the idea of pre-ordering, everybody seems so keen on promoting it by urging them to start the marketing train early.

Wait, so you expect others not discuss a game which has been on the market for 12 months because you chose not to play it during this period of time?

Are you saying events like E3 should be canceled because games are unfinished? That would mean Uncharted 4 and Zelda, just to name a few, should have not been shown due to each game being unfinished.
