It sounds like this is going to be more of a remake-lite than a port up. According to Wells, they've been working on this since TLOU wrapped up a year ago.

I hope they show some footage soon.

Please don't censor the MP component in the PAL-version this time around. So unnecessary. Seriously. SP is untouched, but MP is missing the same amount of blood and decapitations. Would like to not have to import the NTSC copy this time around to get an uncensored version.

Aren't they legally obliged because of the European laws + Germany? Or could they release 2 versions?

I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I am not sure yet, but I think I will buy this one.

I still have PS3 but I dont play it anymore after PS4 arrived home! And besides I finished this game on PS3, I did not tried to get the platinum trophy and neither bought the campaing DLC.

Also, the same awesome experience at 1080p and a better image treatment and a more stable frame-rate will be awesome! =)

I hope that, not just The Last of Us, but also Dark Souls 2 arrives to PS4 and Ni No Kuni to PS Vita! That would be amazing!!!

Completely true!

No need to censor MP this time around for Region 2 copies. I was raging jealous when a friend of mine who had Region 1 copy showed the awesome decapitations and gore that we missed.

I get those that are upset over the $59.99 price. Dishonored GotY was released at a price of $39.99 and IMO it had far more substantial DLC than LoU did.

However, the $59.99 price is much more justified than the Tomb Raider UE since the Last of Us DLC is actually quite good and does indeed add value.

I'm so glad that it's not Square Enix or EA doing a re-release of game that is not even a year old for a full retail price, because that would be a problem!

Oh really. Sweet. I wonder if the improvements to combat etc are more substantial than a lot think.

LOL! Sorry to laugh, but to the people who are saying "I'm not spending $60" said the same about Tomb Raider and caved? I expect the same here. LOL! After the games release, we'll see in the OT "Sorry guys, I caved."

All jokes aside, I do feel that the "Transfer" program should apply here too. I haven't bought the game, but borrowed it from a former friend and couldn't enjoy it because I have this thing where if it's not mine(My own copy), I can't enjoy it the way I want. I'm glad Sony and ND let us pre-order so early. Now, I just wait.

Cannot wait to double dip on this.Single player was the most enjoyable I've played in years. The game basically ruined all other games for me in terms of caring about the characters and story. Multiplayer was a lot of fun as well.

So pumped to play this again on PS4. :D

Though I hope they link your trophies or at least unlock the highest difficulty from the get go. I beat the game on Hard, and only got halfway through the hardest mode and would like to complete that mode without having to play the game twice.

Actually you didn't get to play an inferior version. At the time it was ( and still is until this summer) only available on PS3.

Obviously, the secrecy surrounding game development makes it hard to interpret what intentions ND had with marketing the game twice like this or even for how long the PS4 version has been in development (despite ND claiming that PS4 development was started after finishing the game for PS3). From my perspective as a ND fan on the outside, the two versions appear to be released in close proximity.

A lot of people in this thread are celebrating ND for providing something extra with this PS4 release, but I found it interesting to turn the perspective around in this case. Did ND market a technologically inferior version of TLOU to ND fans last year, expecting to market a version that resolves the known technical problems (low resolution, low framerate, low resolution textures) to the same fans a year later? I think it is a very reasonable question. If there was no marketing strategy to get people to double dip behind the release schedule, why not give people who already bought the game access to the version without technical problems for free or for a significantly reduced price (a trivial thing for them to do if you bought on PSN)?

If I understand you correctly, a developer who wants a free pass for tricking their fans to buy their game twice only needs to fulfill two criteria: 1. There is an arbitrary length of time between the release dates of the two versions of the game in question. 2. The release of the second version is not announced publicly at the time when the first version is released. Is this what you were trying to say?

Anecdotal but 5 friends on my Facebook decided to purchase PS4 because of this announcement, it crazy how popular this game became.

I wonder why Sony is releasing this so early? They should have released it just before Last of Us next no?

Gives the gamers something to play right now. The majority of the team is on staff for UC4, so TLOU2 won't be on the way for a while, I assume. Plus, it's a good chance to get used to the hardware of the PS4.

Why would a developer shoot themselves in the foot by announcing a more complete version would be coming out in a year on PS4? You allow the original version to run its natural sales life cycle first

Because expecting big fans to double dip is a part of the sales strategy and no one needs to feel ripped of just because they paid full price two times for the same game?

I don't understand posts like this that imply people are being forced to buy this port.

If someone doesn't want it, they shouldn't buy it.

You are just making a pessimistic assumption. I could just as easily assume that the idea came from fan demands (as they said) and the creative ideal to release a version of the game that perfected the flaws present in the original which was mostly inhibited by hardware restrictions.

Again, then why not give a big discount to or release the game as crossplay to people who bought on PSN?

Even if not, it is so obvious textures will get upgraded. In the grand scheme of the effort put into such a port exporting the textures in higher resolutions is like a fart in the wind.

Gamers on The Internet want every t crossed and i dotted.

Yeah, it seems like it will get similar type treatment Tomb Raider got.

Because they don't owe it to you.

You bought the game on PS3. You got a complete game. If you have that version and want to play the game, you can play that version. You paid for the right to play that game that doesn't entitle you to play the PS4 version. That version is perfectly playable and gives you the entire experience.

Would it be nice if they sold it for $39.99 and/or provided an upgrade option? Absolutely, but under no circumstances do I feel entitled to it.

Now, one concern I do share is the precedent being set that re-releasing old games with all DLC and a $60 price is a good idea.

I don't understand where the complaining is coming from. This is OBVIOUSLY for the 360 converts who never touched LoU to begin with. So all the complaining about 60 bucks is kind of silly to me.

Infact, I'd argue this is going to get 2 kinds of people. 360 converts & people who loved it enough to double dip no matter what price. But I still think 40-50 bucks would be a good gesture by Sony for the double dippers.

I have some more reading to do so excuse me if this has been answered already but I am assuming that based on the pre order bonus, that our PS3 stats on the multiplayer side of things wont carry over? And I guess that the PS3/PS4 communities will not be playing against/with each other?

My only real criticism of Last of Us was how absolutely BLAND the trophy list was.

I wouldn't mind them removing the multiplayer trophies and replacing them with some other better more fun trophies.

Very minor and insignificant complaint.
