'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

$59.99 is kind of shitty, but I lost my copy for the PS3 (or, rather, my dipshit friends lost it), and I do so very much love this game.

And I never got to play Left Behind.

So I'll pay it. I'll pay it, and I'll like it, and I'll support some somewhat shitty anti-consumerism.

outstanding.

Full retail price for a game that's not yet a year old, has been re-made for a new console with (hopefully) significant upgrades and 3 DLC packs??

Well that sounds OK.

EntitledGAF :(

Glad this is coming out for PS4 :D

Still not that impressed by the price though considering Tomb Raider was far cheaper etc. I doubt it will fall that quickly either due to the lack of titles for the PS4 at the moment.

I really hope ND isn't messing with Ellie's facial model in the Remaster. The cover is starting to bother me since she looks so different. She's got a bit of a harder, less innocent look to her.

Hmm, this would actually be perfect for PS+. But I guess they would have announced if it was.
I actually think I'll skip this, I'm already pretty crappy at finishing games so playing through the same game twice seems like a bad idea.

I said earlier that I liked it but looking over it again I'm somewhat disappointed that they felt the need to have them holding guns. I know it's post-apocalyptic and everything but still...

Really? Why is everything black and white?

Not all games need covers with characters holding guns.

That said. That doesn't me NONE of them should.

Them holding guns is very important to the themes and the background of the game. Especially Ellie.

I think this is also really smart of Naughty Dog to handle the remaster themselves. This accomplishes two things:

1) It ensures that the remaster will be of the utmost quality, with real care taken to make it shine on the PS4.

and more importantly,

2) It gives the Naughty Dog guys and gals valuable experience developing on the PS4. Sure, it's easy to develop for, but if anything, the ND team working on The Last of Us will know their way around the PS4 when it comes to producing their next game (I know ND team one is already working on Uncharted 4, but they are two teams now. I imagine team 2 may be working on a sequel to The Last of Us, and getting the engine up and running on the PS4 with this remaster will make developing The Last of Us 2 much, much easier).

I'm really excited for the potential of these PS4 remasters/definitive editions. I want more already.

Now featuring full 1080p, higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, in addition to several other gameplay improvements.
What does Amazon call gameplay? Because the preceding list only has non-gameplay-aspects in it, so saying "other gameplay improvments" seems really strange to me.

I'm not against "hd version" but if it's come eleven months after the release, you need to make an offer for the original buyers.
40€ for the ps3 version owners seems fair to me (20€ for the season pass, and 20€ for the upgrade).

Arne addressed the cutscenes in the 60=not cinematic thread, you guys might be interested:
That's all still in progress, but they were at least be rerendered in the higher 1080 resolution plus maybe whatever else we can add. I highly doubt we'd do them real-time based on our past history with cinematics, so I wouldn't hold my breath for that.

Franklly, the visual fidelity of our PS3 cinematics were pretty fantastic. I'd love to see the gang push beyond that, but it is a pretty high bar to start from! As we get closer to release, etc., we can probably shed some more light on all this.

Interesting. Oh well.

Would like to see cinematic character models in game though.

My biggest wish is high res textures. Which so far they have been mum on.

So much variety in TLoU textures, but obviously hampered by PS3s antiebt hardware.

Moving our efforts to the PS4 has allowed us to remaster an already phenomenal looking The Last of Us in 1080p with a list of upgrades including higher resolution character models, improved shadows and lighting, upgraded textures, along with even more improvements.

It's right there in the OP too. Do people not read the threads they post in?!

There are still millions of people who haven't played TLOU so they probably should focus on getting them and not you who already has it. I'm pretty sure ND wants to expand it's fan base with every iteration. This version is for people who haven't played the game and want to try it on their PS4.
