'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

Guys I was thinking, what if the new difficulty mode being patched into the PS3 version, and comes by default with the PS4 version, is the advanced AI from the E3 demo?

My only real criticism of Last of Us was how absolutely BLAND the trophy list was.

I wouldn't mind them removing the multiplayer trophies and replacing them with some other better more fun trophies.

Very minor and insignificant complaint.

The trophy list was specifically designed so as not to pop trophies throughout the game and ruin your immersion.

"Kill 10 Clickers" - trophy pop
"Walk forward" - trophy pop

It would be grating and just doesn't suit the game. I have no criticisms of how they went about it.

So you want the recycled, monotonous ones like 10 headshots, 20 kills with a shotgun, burn three clickers with one molotov....

I dont "get" trophies.

Seriously though, I really liked the trophs in TLOU. They actually took some effort to obtain and were pretty unobtrusive to the overall experience allowing you to soak in the environments and story. I dont need that Pavlovian chime every ten minutes for bullshit to be having a good time.

Its not actually.

It's for anyone who wants it and is willing to pay for it.

I know that much. But there's obviosly an audience that will and won't buy it. I'd buy Blade Runner in any shape or form for full price (Which I did for the Blu-Ray 5 disc edition for 50 bucks, then again for the anniversary edition).

60 bucks for this for existing owners doesn't make sense, they won't buy it especialy those who bought DLC, etc. But there are 360 converts and people who never played it on PS3 who'll jump on it on principle.

I don't understand where the complaining is coming from. This is OBVIOUSLY for the 360 converts who never touched LoU to begin with. So all the complaining about 60 bucks is kind of silly to me.

Infact, I'd argue this is going to get 2 kinds of people. 360 converts & people who loved it enough to double dip no matter what price. But I still think 40-50 bucks would be a good gesture by Sony for the double dippers.

And three, PS3 owners like me who just haven't gotten around to purchasing and playing the game due to work/game backlog

That's where I'm at. I have no problem paying full price for this version since the total amount of money I've spent on TLOU so far is $0 and I'll gladly play it on my PS4.

Will buy again. I barely scratched the surface of the PS3 version and it's been sitting in my backlog taunting me. Playing this in 1080P with 60 FPS and updated visuals is going to be amazing.

I had a PS3 but the thing died right before the game was released.

Obviously we will probably never know, unless ND/Sony choose to release the figure based off trophy data, but I would imagine more double dippers than former 360 owners picking it up personally. Only people who've played it even know it's quality, of course people can look at reviews, and they've heard buzz from friends or online, etc, but I think it's one of those games that a lot of people will want to return to. I think GTA5 will be a similar situation.

Because expecting big fans to double dip is a part of the sales strategy and no one needs to feel ripped of just because they paid full price two times for the same game?
Yeah sure, now it's about the "big fans" first and foremost before the literally millions of new players who moved from a 360 -> PS4 that have yet to play TLOU. To say nothing of the fact that the PS3 version is still at its retail price.
There is arguing against anti-consumer practices, and then there is acting like an entitled spoiled child when they're not the center of everything. If you feel the asking price is too much for you who has already bought the game, then by all means, don't buy it! As LookAtMeGo put it:
Right now TLOU is $59.99 on PS3 without the DLC. How is $59.99 on PS4 with a bunch of DLC and graphical upgrades a shitty deal?

I don't get it.
lol I don't get it either. I do love the idea of a monkey hopping about with a PS4 game though.

Any idea if we are going to get GTA V? I never owned the Ps3 version of TLOU. I redboxed it knowing full well that its coming to Ps4. This makes me ecstatic. This game is obviously for PS Newbs that jumped ship from xbox 360 and never got to play it. It will sell a gajillion copies. Swing gamers i think they were called. The Last of Us, Destiny, The Order 1886, all in the first YEAR. Post launch drought, eat your heart out. If/WHEN GTA V comes, it will be 59.99. Mark my words.

Right on. I never got a trophy until after the credits rolled. It was great.

Really interested to see how much they improve the game in the remastered edition. I already read what they mentioned they were improving, but seeing it running would make the double dipping decision easier.

6million+ install base and rising.

If by rough estimate we say around 1.5mil 360/other platform owners bought a PS4, then we can assume that TLoU will also sell 1.5 million copies to those potential customers.

Not mentioning the double dippers like me who want to play it again, with more improvements.

I'm roughing up a 3 million sold copies in the first quarter of its release.

I believe it was a mistake on their part saying they were targeting 60fps, for many people this means the game will be 60fps since some don't understand the meaning of the word target, if, for some reason this goal is not achieved this game will receive some hate it does not deserve just base on that assumption, sad but true

I purposely didnt finish the game i got from redbox for this reason. I got about half way through.
(flooded subway with ellie on the board).
How far through the game is this? I felt like it was half way through. So, it will kind of feel like i have something new to play! This makes me ecstatic. Also, alot of game sites are saying that GTA V is next. Can't wait. I thought this game ran like crap on 360. http://www.techradar.com/news/gamin...firmed-for-ps4-gta-5-looks-to-be-next-1241050 GTA V is expected in June, correct?

That's fine, but this was not fine, and better not be repeated on the PS4 version at launch.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/game/the-last-of-us/guide/

Some, if not all of the games trophies are somewhat glitchy at the moment. Basically the collectible trophies, end game trophies and potentially the bronze online trophies are all very glitched. As such, the best thing you can do to minimize any chance of your trophies glitching is to not download any patches for this game.

For the Single player it is recommended that you play offline, and don’t download any patches for now. Also, for the difficulty related trophies, at the end of the game make sure to sit through the whole of the credits. If they don’t pop for you delete the patch (if it was downloaded) and replay the last chapter, again sitting through the credits. For the collectible trophies, try to get all the main ones for the "Scavenger" trophy in one playthrough and on one save and try not to switch around saves during the playthrough. If they do glitch on you, there is a chance they will pop on a later playthrough from picking up a random collectible like some did for us. Other than that your best bet is to make back ups for your game saves, delete them and start fresh collecting them again.

Going to trade my ps3 copies of gta5 and tlou for a preorder this week while they have some value. Not replaying it since last year and not buying the dlc paid off hehe

LOL. I think they'd be lucky to get HALF that.

You'd think the people who haven't bought this game would pick this up and easily achieve half of that in a few months, right? A lot of 360-to-PS4 gamers would pick this up. Double-dippers will pick this up. People waiting for 1080p/60 will pick this up.

Infamous sold a million in a week. What makes this so hard to achieve? 3 million is being lucky. A million and a half is easy.

The fact they were working on this from ages (or, at least, the say so) it's crappy. They could just say "Ehi, this will be released both for Ps3 and Ps4 when done", and no one will say anything against them. The fact they didn't it's just because they want the same people who bought the Ps3 version to double dip. Some people say that the Ps4 is planned for 360 users. Bullshit. If you want a game, you can buy that console. It worked this way from the Nes era, why this need to change now? What is it, charity toward players? They want money. Stop. No ideals here, only money. And of course, I'm talking about it only because this will create a precedent: how many " remasteres" edition we will see of games released on Ps3? A lot. But those versions are basically pointless, at least for me. Re-buying a game only because framerate and better resolution? No. The Hd remakes for Ps3 were a different thing, because those games were unplayable on modern Tv, looking so crappy they they originally were. But releasing Ps3 remakes? Just no. Yes, I'm okay with collections of those games, like Uncharted one, for example. But single remakes? No.

Man, you're so delusional.

A game as good as TLOU, with its absurd 200+ goty awards, deserves to sell around 10 million copies if GTA5 sold 40 million.

Sort of how Naughty God's PS3 efforts all targeted 30 fps?
If anything they are very consistent with performance. Uncharted 2 barely dropped even a single frame in the entire game, Uncharted 3 ran a little worse in that it did drop frames but that was about it, it never ran poor and it ran at 30FPS almost all the time.

Nope. Not realistic IMO.

Why is it not realistic? Sony could have all of these discs pressed and ready to go! And its on PSN so i doubt it is months away. April 29th. I could be wrong (of course), but im calling it. April 29th. When i started ranting to shuhei yoshida about the last of us needing to be on ps4, he responded with "be patient". lol!

So the new version on PS4 is all about catching those 360->PS4 movers who never played TLOU on PS3? ND laughs at the puny amounts coming from "big fan" double dippers who think they are the center of everything, and want to focus on more important markets (puny amounts that they still expect to get every penny of by denying discounts to PSN buyers) ...

Sorry, but your perspective is very naive. Double dipping is serious business and marketing to encourage it is understandable from the point of view of video game company executives who want to exploit fans and make as much money as possible. The surprising thing is not that video game companies are driven by greed, but how some of their fans go to absurd lengths to defend their exploitative practices.

It's going to come after E3. There is no magical disc pressing machine that can bypass all QA testing and ESRB rating, with magical final boxart.

$60 is just crazy for a 1 year late port. last gen we got 3 games on disc for half the price now with Tomb Raider and this game we get full price for one game.

Sony and other publishers really need to lower the price for late ports.

Pre-order Bonuses
Increased Crafting Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
Increased Healing Speed for use in the Single Player Campaign
9mm Reload Speed Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign
Rifle Clip Capacity Increase Upgrade for use in the Single Player Campaign

This will break the game (which already easy on all difficulties).

April 29th is too good to be true of a date.

June's first week seems reasonable enough or can get out before E3.

No, it's good, it means they're not shitting it out, it means it'll get a better upgrade than a normal HD Remaster, and it means the team will have experience on PS4.
They could just say "Ehi, this will be released both for Ps3 and Ps4 when done", and no one will say anything against them.
No, they couldn't. Developers do not announce games, publishers do, and ND claim they didn't even know they were going to finish it, they were just working on it.
The fact they didn't it's just because they want the same people who bought the Ps3 version to double dip.
No, it's not.

Every company wants money, pinko.

How is this the precedent when we had an entire generation of HD Remasters? Moreover, we just had Tomb Raider, which was exactly this situation.
But those versions are basically pointless, at least for me. Re-buying a game only because framerate and better resolution? No.
Great, so you don't have to ever worry about it, just don't buy them.
The Hd remakes for Ps3 were a different thing, because those games were unplayable on modern Tv, looking so crappy they they originally were.
No, it's no different, they weren't unplayable at all.
But releasing Ps3 remakes? Just no. Yes, I'm okay with collections of those games, like Uncharted one, for example. But single remakes? No.
If you mean no to you buying them, fine, if you mean no to people making them, I'm glad you have no influence on the matter.

Preordered on Amazon yesterday! Can't wait for that 1080p glory! (And 60fps if they manage to achieve it)

I won't be using the preorder bonuses that basically make the game easier though.

Last gen give me examples of these 3 games on one disc and then I'm going let you use your head and think about the difference between those games and then these next gen ports.

The $60 price would be crazy if it maintained that price for half the year, but it never does. It's not crazy. $60 is standard for GOTY editions of games and we are lucky that we are getting a GOty of one of the best games this year. These posts are really confusing me.

Last of Us on PS3 is still 40 bucks.

It's the value proposition of when the original game was released and the added content.

Sure God of War had an HD set released but those games were released eons ago.
