The Last of Us - Review Thread [Emargo up, scores in OP.]

So its coming from arguably one of the best devs. this generation and the game looks solid, but its hyperbole? What i do see is people not wanting to give credit where credit is due and that is to say Naughty Dog are just that good.

Also another game did get just as much hype and that was Uc2 by the same developers. After its showing and previews the hype was astronomical and the consensus is that it lived up to the hype. Arguably the highest rated exclusive this gen (yes Mario galaxies scored higher but also had alot less reviews aggregated into the score, which i think isnt fair when comparing because Uc2 had well over 120 reviews aggregated in its score increasing the probability that it would get scored lower)

Based off demo and whatw eve heard i bet you the hyoe is warranted. Of course there will be ppl to go against the grain and others paid off to lower the score but hey thats life.

QFT.
If Pele is a good football player he deserves his credit.

Wtf... I have dodged GoT spoilers for almost a week and I get hit in a fucking review thread for TLoU with a damn gif that is probably nsfw on top of being so goddamn inconsiderate.

Only a fucking jerk who post shit like that.

what people don't get about spoilers is that... well, I had no interest in Game of Thrones really until I heard about people freaking out about what happened, which piqued my interest in starting the show, because I love shit like that and discovering what people are going nuts over.

I haven't been spoiled on it yet but I feel like I will be before I even have a chance to watch it because if you don't catch it as soon as it happens, then you're obviously not entitled to get a chance to experience it for yourself later.

These things flare out, if you manage the week, it seems you'll manage till you get there.

Shows how easy it is for people to slip up, people talk about fear of spoilers for this game, someone spoils a show completely unrelated to the game, nobody was prepared for it.

The same can happen to The Last of Us in a thread unrelated to the game, so everyone be careful. If the game truly is special, you do not want it spoiled.

feel sorry for the mods, some of them havent even read the books and need to do these things.

i hope anyone who does this shit purposefully gets permed

I... am somewhat less optimistic about that. I would have to delete my Facebook account for sure; I don't watch Walking Dead but all I have to do is log into FB to find out everything that happens in real-time and the same pretty much applies to GOT.

I've read like 20 different variations of how TLOU ends on 4chan. I feel immune to spoilers because I can't possibly believe any of them when I've heard every possible outcome presented as fact. I'd have to see video to feel spoiled.

Im thinking of not adding too much Screenshots or info which could relate to spoilers, i have planned something nice but i hope people like it

This has been my biggest fear with the new juniors and TLoU spoilers being out there. One junior actually posted end game spoilers in the demo thread, but that thread is so big I doubt the mods can really read it, so that guy is still hanging about on gaf. Completely unapologetic about it too.

People and that Game of Throne who cares it's only a TV show if you watch that show by now you would have already watched that episode so whats the point of spoiling it.

It's just that there's pretty serious hyperbole included in more or less every AAA game's reviews when it comes out. Bioshock Infinite is a good recent example, as is Uncharted 3. I can't even bring myself to get back and finish BI, and U3 was an incredibly disappointing game.

The Last of Us may very well be a great game. Uncharted 2 was one of my 5 favorite games of this generation, and based solely on that team's strength I'm buying this game. But the reviews calling it gaming's Citizen Kane or the greatest game of all time or whatever are all extremely hyperbolic. If it's fun, it's fun and that's all I give a shit about. I hope it's as fun as Uncharted 2. I hope it's a lot better than Uncharted 3.

I haven't got to sit down and catch up with that show. I guess I should have spoiled for me since I'm not able to watch it as it comes out? Come the fuck on.

This isn't even a coherent sentence.

.

Did you play the game? Is it that hard to fathom that this game might reach those meteoric heights where games, film, and narrative merge?

Nib, here's another one for your list, and it also contains Citizen Kane, so I guess its a double whammy.

Yeah I have no intention in buying this game, I just want to read the reviews for the insanity haha.

This thread is really going places.

I've got it taped and had kind of a busy week so haven't been able to get round to watching it yet. The episode is apparently so eventful that, I would literally want to murder anyone if they spoiled it. I have to last just another couple of days without some Internet douchecanoe spoiling it, then I can go home and watch. First world problems, I know.

While that is true. There are some places (like that poster in Germany) where it has not been aired. We should always be inclusive of others.

But after a week or so, is a different story. I do generally believe that once a show airs for you (and it really matters that much to you) you would have watched it already or not care about the spoiler that much.

While it's the hot topic of the moment, of course, but that won't last. Next week there will be another GoT episode people will be talking about. It's like if you were trying to avoid the ending of BioShock Infinite, you're far less likely to be spoiled today than a month ago, and then were you were much less likely to be spoiled than a month before that.

I really hope I get thru TLoU without being spoiled, because the directors have name checked a number of films which seem to suggest there could be a meaningful story component to TLoU, so it'd suck to have that spoiled, but there's only so much anyone can do to avoid it. As you say, we can't really all leave FB every time a piece of interesting media comes out.

I hope no one spoils it for you though, it was a great episode.

Someone please change thread title to [GoT Spoilers]

Anyways, yeah, don't think for a second GAF is safe from spoilers. The Bioshock Infinite OT was a minefield for a while.

I just let the thread advance an entire page before continuing reading. Thankfully, the mods are all quickdraws.

Welp... well fuck that, I'm going dark on TLOU threads then!

Yep. :(

If I were you, I'd steer clear of forums, comments sections, etc. until you've finished it.

Same reason as the assclown above who posted a spoiler for Game of Thrones' latest episode just because it aired two days ago in the US. Maybe he thinks no other country exists outside of the US?

Weird people are weird...

Yeah there was a person who spoiled the ending to Heart of the Swarm just a few months ago the day the game launched, he got dealt with, but it still ruined the experience for many people. A part of that games ending was also leaked a few months ago before release, however slightly changed, he spoiled everything on purpose

Like you said, some of the threads are massive and there is only so much the mods can do, cannot expect them to keep everything 100% clean all the time, simply have to be walking on eggshells and protect ourselves, kinda like the game we are looking forward to =P

The 3rd season is not aired yet in many countries. I don't think it will be aired before the fall in my country.

It doesn't air in every country at the same time. A lot of people DVR things (it's only been 2 days). A lot of people buy seasons on iTunes because they don't subscribe to HBO.

There's a ton of reasons. I don't watch GoT, but that's still a crappy move, even weeks after the fact. The site has spoiler tags for a reason. Isn't that why people want to join this site? Because it's well modded and generally has thoughtful, passionate members?

EDIT:

Don't turn this into a discussion about spoilers. Move on. Don't derail! >_<

Sorry, Duckroll.

Back on track...I need these reviews in my veins stat!

I swear dude, every time you make a post I imagine you snorting a really fat line of coke beforehand.

It's impossible to spoil infinite
