Hey Guys.

Edge gave The Last of Us 10/10 'Epic'

I can't link to my story on here for some reason.

There is a screen though :)

Edge 10

Fake? Guy who posted it is Global Brand Manager at Deep Silver so don't think it's a troll.

It's a screengrab from a Sony Europe YouTube pre-roll ad, they're clearly booked across all GameSpot's YouTube content. Note, I'm viewing from the UK. As YT pre-roll is geotargeted, you might not get the same ad from the US.

Now do me a favour back, and go play Metro: Last Light. I reckon you have just enough time before The Last of Us comes out...

10/10 from Edge huh? Can't wait for all the gaf threads saying that the game really isn't as good as the press makes it out to be.

Oh wow.

That advert is exactly where I hope the plot would go.

Speculation:
An opening where you are taught how to scavenge, melee and shoot by killing Joel's infected family in a flashback, with the final bullet taking us into present day, with Joel waking up from a nightmare.

Now that would be the best opening to a game, like so many journalists are insisting The Last of Us already has.

umm... oh. well.

Cool, thanks for the confirmation. Was just wondering why you didn't tweet to ND.

I know, but read my follow-up post.
The gameplay seems great on the face of it, very dynamic, it allows for much more freedom in instances than most games, it has a focus on resource scavenging and management. It's not just a serious skin on Uncharted.

Different games. I guess TLoU has more originality which they prefer.

Yeah, I suppose.

But in any case, Naughty Dog must be on top of the world. Looking at the previews, I think they may have crafted the perfect game.

I always find Naughty Dog as one of those developers who are the most talented in their industry, but they always stayed in the safe region by always being comical and not taking their storytelling too serious.

This seems to be taking a whole different approach and I absolutely welcome that change.

10/10 from Edge? I'm not going to buy a PS3 for only one game am I?
** Checks prices on the Internet **

Edit: Nope.

Don't get me wrong, the game seems fine, I just don't see how the gameplay is something that can and should stand as the best of the generation.

Of course, I personally don't care about the cinematic aspirations of many modern games.

Maybe we just have different tastes...

But I don't see whats wrong with the gameplay? If anything, that's what I'm most excited about in regards to this game.

A game that puts sole focus on scavenging, limited resources, crafting, with some great ai all set in a survival horror setting and the such just sounds so incredibly brilliant.

Especially for this gen where everything has become more simplified and condensed rather than more complex and more "gamey" in a sense, like the last of us appears to be (with health packs, rather than recharging health and the such for example).

So if the gameplay stands up than I don't see what doesn't make it seem like game of the generation worthy to me?
