Calling that
Lorence
battle a bunch of shit is putting it very mildly.

Well, you are technically supposed to lose that battle.

...Though it's possible to win. And we were cruel enough to make an achievement for doing so, of course. ;)

Wow, that's interesting. I didn't find it all that hard when I did it, but knowing that it was possible to lose this fight and still continue makes the dialogue afterwards seem a little more properly placed.

Am I going insane or did Joshua's battle victory quotes suddenly change? Well, the words are the same but they sound different. I'm in Chapter 3.

Ever since I entered Limestone Cavern, Joshua's voice has gotten higher-pitched. I have no idea what's going on.

EDIT: Reloaded an old save from the Prologue, and his voice is still high-pitched. So I have no idea what it is.

Just finished the game.

The final boss was such a pain.

And the ending fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.

Now I can see why people want SC so bad. I am buying it Day 1.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to answer some of my queries from the last page. Now that I'm finally playing (and enjoying) Trails in the Sky I'm becoming more curious about the saga as a whole. I would've asked in the official Community thread for Kiseki but... I'm a little wary of plot spoilers lol.

I really like this track, for some reason.

It's soothing, but also foreboding.

edit: Gaddang, everyone's beating the game already. Gotta get my ass in gear.

Well, Falcom took on bugfixing the PC version of Zero themselves and they released it in Japanese. Sadly, they have yet to do the same for Ao.

If my memory serves the people who handled the licencing in China for Ao and YS7 is another agency that is different from the TITS trilogy since the old one ran out of business since Falcom's departure from PC

There were a lot of shady practices too. They took the fan translation of FC and used it as the official release in China and sent legal warnings to the people who actually translated the game. SC's translation was a mess because of unicode problems, grammartical and diction mistakes, also SecuROM. The 3rd had censorship and SecuROM. Though all of the problems were remedied due to the power of the Chinese fan base.

Falcom is pretty popular in the Chinese speaking countries back in the days. YS6, OiF, Origins, Xanadu Next next all had proper releases.

This might seem like a weird request, but...

Now that people is close to beating the game, could someone take a screenshot of the [Music Composers / Sound Team jdk] part from the end credits? I... would like to check out something, even though it probably is what I'm expecting.

God damn it, the armor chest in Mistwald seems to be missable...
If you don't get it before the theft quest, it will just not spawn, robbing you from two achievements. :\
Whoever thought this was a good idea, should be taken to the street and shot. Repeatedly.

Also, the Shining Pom achievement seems to be a bit wonky.
I've cleared Prologue, went to the Gate in Chapter 1, beat Poms during the trip, but my cheevo progress is still on 1/5.
I know there is a second Shining Pom spawning point in the chapter, still seems weird to not count the Prologue one if it's available in Chapter 1.

I discovered yesterday that I missed one tiny stupid BP during the Perzel Farm quest, I've pretty much said fuck you to achievements at this point.

Had to reload an older save to shuffle some equipment so now the fight wasn't that bad. Can still go pretty awry, though, if the AI feels like doing Earth Guard Mk2 and random Tearals too often.

I never had a problem with that fight, though I knew to be prepared ahead of time.

Before loading an older save file I had a couple attempts where he would just cast Tearal after every second hit.

I was lucky with that fight on PSP, I think he healed maybe one time.

I get the feeling I won't be so lucky a second time. That said, I also don't expect to have a whole lot of trouble anyway. For whatever reason the game seems extremely easy on PC. I don't remember it being this easy on PSP. Assuming the default difficulty mode isn't borked and automatically set to Easy or something, I wish I could have started on Hard.

I gave my sister some tips and she did it on the first try,

Food (especially CP-boosting ones) and anything (Quartz, equipment) that boosts Speed/Agility (whatever speeds up your turn in battle) helps massively, I find.

Speaking of which, everyone has to have a Speed-boosting Quartz whenever I play XD

Not sure if posted, but a glowing review from Hardcore Gamer (apart from the constant crashing lol), only PC review so far:

http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/08/05/review-legend-of-heroes-trails-in-the-sky-pc/97392/

Interesting read too. Didn't think Laputa was was that big of an influence on JRPGs. Obviously can see the connections with this and the likes of Skies of Arcadia, but JRPGs in general? Maybe those more versed in Japanese pop culture around here can confirm or dismiss?

After finishing out the game and letting it marinate in my mind for a couple days, all I can say is... the localization of the Second Chapter is one of my most anticipated titles now.

I loved it through and through, but if there's one thing I hope the Second Chapter does better then the First, it's having a bigger variety in fight mechanics. To be specific (last area spoilers):
I'm hoping for more fights like Reverie, where you have to think about what you're doing and not just spam AoE Arts to victory.
Although, I suspect playing through hard mode might have curved this issue I had, here's to hoping SC has a way to access harder difficulty from the start.

Seaport of Ruan, Peace Given by Darkness, and The Fading Light of the Sealed Land had to be highlights of the OST for me. If I hadn't enjoyed the last areas music as much as I did, (last area spoiler):
I probably would have lost my mind traversing that maze
haha.

That is why 'Whereabouts of Light' sounded familiar. I did not make that connection either time playing the game.

This is my new goal in life.

It's not too bad, though if you get unlucky it can be harder than it should be.

The goal should be to beat it on nightmare. I remember somebody on XSEED's old forums managed that and had this really long post about how their strategy and how ridiculously difficult it was.

Oh these first-timers getting the thirst for SC after beating it warms my heart.

I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to answer some of my queries from the last page. People who spoil plot in that thread would be shot dead by mods. I go in there no and have no trouble being spoiled.

For those reporting that Joshua's voice suddenly changed on them: it should be fixed now. Turns out you guys accidentally got a preview of his SC (Trails 2) voice. ;)

Also, since a PC review was just posted, I figure I'll share this one as well. It was just tweeted to us a little while ago:

Ah, so that explains it. I figured I forgot he had somehow gotten GAMEFACE in Ch. 3 and forgot about it in 3 years time. hah

Just finished this game, and wow -- that ending. Just, wow.

SC by Christmas, right guys? Please? I'm begging you.

I can't imagine how folks who beat it on PSP right after their release has felt, because wow.

I was way off in everything that I thought I had figured out. Way off.

I'm aware of all of this, but I'm not sure what brought it up, since I was talking about Zero no Kiseki PC, which was absolutely developed by Joyoland/Userjoy, the same people who did Ao PC, Ys 7 PC, and soon Celceta PC.

Okay so I think I missed the Sapphirl Tower quest. Someone tell me (in spoilers) what I've missed in terms of story and whether I can do the other tower quests or if I miss anything due to not completing all the towers.

There is no Sapphirl Tower quest. It is just there for you to explore.

Just checked up Gog, and saw that the new patch is available.

...

Now I can boot the game with GeDoSaTo, so that's cool. Too bad the screen keep flashing between the resolution it's running and the downsampled resolution, so it's kinda unplayable.
But hey, it seems to be working with bigger resolutions now, so thank you Xseed

I think Durante said it didn't work right because the game uses DX8.

No kidding. Up until the last bit of the game I was expecting something along the lines of this: (Some story related spoilers, don't read unless you've beat the game just in case.)

Cassius was going to turn out to be one of the brain washed soldiers, I was pretty sure of that up until Zane handed Estelle and Joshua the letter he had.
With Joshua, I thought his past had something to do with one of the other countries, like Erebonia, and Cassius rescued him from it. Nope, was only right about Cassius saving his ass.

It's been three long years in Quarantine just doing what I can to survive making sure I can see Estelle to the end of the saga. It's hard living in fear whether or not knowing a boulder could fall from the sky and smash me in the head without the knowledge of what happens after that ending but such is life.

Seriously though I'm just glad we're finally getting confirmation of it after so long. I guess I always knew XSeed would come through with it as long as they could get the numbers and find the staff resources to get it done because why would they not other wise.

I guess after Final Fantasy Versus and The Last Guardian I'm no longer phased by long waiting times for video games. They come when they come.

My brain dealt with the long wait by just deleting every single thing of Trails in the Sky's story. I still rememember the different places and some bits of the story, but I'm drawing a complete blank when trying to remember how everything connects. And the ending? I can't quite recall what actually happened. I remember one thing in particular, but I don't think that was on its own what's been so shocking about it.

This is pretty much my situation. I remember the general gist of the events in the game, but completely forgot all the actual details.

Well of course, right after he hands over the aforementioned "large sum of mira" :]

Goddammit Joshua!

btw, White Gehenna is pretty sweet now that I've unlocked it. Is it the most powerful AoE Art in the game?
