The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky PC |OT|

Yangxu's guide doesn't have any spoilers that I recall, unless you read ahead.

The boss fight strategies in that guide are hit-or-miss though. I just beat the first boss of the final dungeon and wouldn't really recommend the method in that guide, there is a better way to handle that fight.

The one I'm using now (Yangxu's) gives away future locations and some story bits at the start of every story/optional/hidden quest description. See the time limit section: http://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/979866-the-legend-of-heroes-trails-in-the-sky/faqs/62082

That's mostly really minor stuff. Knowing that'll you'll go to mine X or such isn't a spoiler, it's a given based on the fact that the location is in the game. I find the other gamefaq guide more usefully formatted anyway.

Suddenly my right analog stick can control the camera, nice!
Edit: and the d-pad works without joytokey!

That was a 2,7mb patch, did it fix anything else?

Really!? Awesome!

Does it recognize the trigger buttons now, too? I noticed when trying to configure the settings before it wouldn't recognize them, and I didn't have enough buttons for all the actions. ><

It's usually not a big deal but I wouldn't want to see that on my first time through the game.

Now that you mention it, there are two things in the time limits that could be considered spoilers. I wouldn't consider location names spoilers in this game since you see nearly all of them right on your map.

And I wouldn't recommend using a guide for the first playthrough anyway. Just roll with it, get what you get, and don't worry about 100% completion. It can be kind of a chore to do everything at times when you just want to progress the story. This is a game that makes a second playthrough more enjoyable anyway since you see all the little details and references to future events you may not have caught during the first one. Though you might not want to do it back to back, could easily get burnt out.

Just bought this book, it's absolutely gorgeous. I've always been a fan of Falcom's art - it's simple but iconic:

I like a lot of it from the 2000s (and I guess earlier as well). They've been losing me lately though, Celceta's character designs were pretty iffy to me and Sen looks outright terrible.

If you preordered Ys Seven in Japan way back when, you got a Zero no Kiseki booklet with it... and man, the concept art for the characters in that booklet is still my favorite modern Falcom art style. It looked like '70s sentai or something -- it was gorgeous.

The final art for the game is pretty nice too, but I still wish they would've gone with that rockin' '70s style instead. Would've been a cool new direction for the series.

Someone much earlier in the thread said that that was a bug in the Japanese version of the game. I think it was Aeana.

I've read the whole thread but seem to have forgotten that. Is it beyond fixing though? Not a huge issue anyway, just wondering if they'll be able to tackle it.

No. No. No. Don't buy, don't buy, don't buy...

It would be incredibly nice if they went all the way with what Kondo talked about back when and ditched the generime look for something flavorful in anime.

If I had known
party members would leave (instead of introducing new ones and choosing)
I wouldn't have made Estelle into the healer in chapter 1 lol. Good thing I reached the town and now made her into the wind and rock damage one. Just reached the main town in chapter 2, loving this game. I'm actually slightly sad now that not many know of it, the town in here alone is amazing in size and the game so far has been as great as any other turn based 'old school' rpg. I'll be doing my share in recommending it.

Huh? I did the exact opposite I intentionally made her the healer because I knew
she was going to be the only character that would for sure always be around

Well there's a downside at the moment
she doesn't have an area attack with the amount of slots I have available, plus the girl I just met seems to be a healer, so whenever she joins my party I'll get rid of even the basic healing ability. Once I assume she leaves I'll make Estelle the healer again, and hopefully with more slots water based attacks have an area attack

"Clam Dip Flow"

And depending on how you look at it, spoiler-ish. Other then that its an awesome artbook.

Uh, did you mean to add an URL to that link? Because it ain't got one, bruh.

Here in the Final Chapter my current setup w/ Estelle is to make her the all-purpose elemental powerhouse (Fire, Wind and Water AoE spells on tap, and healing too) and Joshua uses Time-based spells (Shadow Spear, White Gehena, Clock Up EX, etc.) as well as slotting useful Quartz like Haze, Information and Eagle Vision. We're a little light on Earth but misc. party members can pick up the slack.

You'll definitely want everyone with Earth Guard, at least

Earth Wall, you mean? Maybe not everyone, but at least a couple characters while fighting bosses. Defense 3 alone is sufficient for your earth needs.

Earth Wall would be ideal, but it can be hard to get it for all characters, and it has a pretty short range.

I believe at least Earth Guard for everyone would be good enough

There's also some stuff that can come innately from JRPG knowledge, such as
whatever fancy names they have for areas towards the end of the game.
It matters some and you should try to be careful, but the real story twists aren't so easily given away. If anything the OST's a bigger spoiler there with the names of songs plus
the fact they generally are ordered by the time they play in the game rather than by what kind of music they are or whatever.

Arena battling? My Little jRPG Can't Be This Trope-y.

Has the monster guide been patched in yet?

Not yet. Kinda funny, most people have finished it without it so it was probably nothing super-vital. I guess if you want to look up which monsters give the most Red sepith it would be useful...

Now I might be wrong here but I remember someone (Hatsuu?) saying that they were waiting on the hi-res UI assets before they could finish the Monster Book. Or maybe it was that they were going to be patched in at the same time.

No, we're still programming in the Monster Guide. We were waiting on HD assets to replace the PC assets, like menus and stuff. That stuff isn't such a big deal, but we thought it'd look nicer and it wouldn't hurt to ask Falcom for them. They were okay with it and sent us the PS3 HD assets for both FC & SC, so I'm going through them and translating them to English now.

Cool. So when SC launchs, the HD assets will be already implemented?

Approximately how much longer is left in the game if I'm at (minor Final Chapter Location Spoiler):

The dinner party in the Castle
.

Game has really run out of steam for me so I'm thinking I would just like to finish it off in one or two play sessions if possible.

My play clock is at 36 hours. I just realized you could spin the camera during battle.

WHAT

I went through the entire game and never realized this!

You're just about done really.
Maybe 3-5 hours.

I wonder what this new patch just did. Without patch notes, it's always a surprise!
Aside from the usual variety of small fixes, I've added the ability to disable the right stick camera control, or to invert it. This should be helpful for people who've been having problems or complaints with the feature.

Thanks for the steady improvements, XSEED team. There have been a lot of gains since the game first went live on Steam... I'm really pleased with it now.

Bring on SC soon and keep up the fantastic work.

Should be! I'll get right to them when I can, since I already have everything. Right now I'm just excited that I can finally change the 'Genis' banners that come up during the Jenis Royal Academy Campus Festival, among other signs.
