The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC |OT| More Olivier Than Ever

I normally do it with Ys if available, which works out fine. Trails might be a different story though.
Trails is mainly about the story while Ys is mainly about the gameplay so yeah, applying the same standards can be a little crazy.

Not that the Trails games have bad gameplay, I really liked FC there anyway and SC is basically just a continuation in the same way something like Digital Devil Saga 2 was, but I'd personally get too frustrated going in deep from the offset. At least when it's that long of a slog already.

EDIT: And gave up on PSN. Too damn long to update and with the other cons, well, screw it.

Restarted a playthrough of FC on my laptop...I only got partway into it on my Vita last year. The difference in sharpness got me like...

Does SC have any sort of recap for the story? Like in the Bracer Notebook or anything like that? Or hell, does FC keep track of the story in the book as well? I could easily load up my FC save file on the PSP and read summaries of each Chapter/Act.

I'm not gonna call it a bug, but maybe an oversight? The text at the casino exchange counter is really low resolution and blurry. This is without the large text setting turned on.

The cursor is also mis-aligned. The red box is as far right as it goes, in the screenshot, but pressing up actually changes the value where the 1 is.

If you've been collecting the Liberl News papers you can get something of a recap that way. Far from comprehensive and being written from an in game POV is inherently limiting.

Hmm, I can't remember if I got those. But you're right, it would be pretty limited for a recap. Would be better than nothing, though. Someone linked a website that had basically the full game in text form (with some images from a Let's Play) which is nice, but dear god, it's so long. I don't know if I wanna read all that lol

Just got through checking the psn store. I still don't see it posted. Is this just me or is Sony NA really bad at this?

They typically update the store like 3 times a week.

Monday night, Tuesday afternoon, and Friday afternoon.

Thursdays just aren't part of their update schedule.

Was picking Nightmare a mistake perhaps? Seems like enemies just have a lot of health. Might have to restart.
uhm, same here. it's not that they have a lot of health but they hit like trucks, dead in 2 hits from anything. monsters in the chests are straight up impossible

does this get any better when I get a full party / more items or I should just restart?

It's supposed to go live today, though. There will be actual salt if it doesn't.

And you really, really shouldn't pick Nightmare for a first-time playthrough. Stick to Hard at absolute most, and even then, it might be rough.

PC friends, is it better to get on Steam or GoG, is there a difference? Steam is cheaper for me because of the Canadian exchange rate though

Steam version has cheevos and cards, GOG version has zero DRM whatsoever.

It really comes down to what you value more.

That is honestly stupid. Oh well. Guess it gives me time to finish Broken Age so I can clear some more space off my memory card.

Yeah. I mean, they were able to update the store to put the first game on sale. Don't know why it's taking so long just to put up one game.

It's not like it's a huge file that has to be uploaded to their servers.

While SC doesn't have a recap of FC, the Bracer Notebooks *do* have a general summary of the story of each game in them. So yeah you could load up your last FC save and read through the notebook if you wanted, I guess.

They've broken from that a few times and one of those was the surprise release of Tron Bonne.

But I guess Capcom they'll eagerly run and do it for while XSEED is "eh, when we get around to it."

Oh that's cool. Might load up my save and check it out.

Is Nightmare straight up impossible on a first play-through or simply incredibly difficult? If it's the latter then I'm in for it.

Edit: Also, what's with the two separate downloads for the psp version? One is 1.1 gigs the other 1.3?

It's a two disc game.

The original game is on two discs due to how large it is. You will have to switch between the two files on occasion during the game.

Alright, chapter 2! I'm a fast reader, playing on easy and I'm most certainly not aiming for 100% (I only do the side quests that interest me and try to look for the books) so I was optimistic, but it looks like there's pretty much no way I'll be able to finish SC before Black Ops 3 and Fallout 4 are released...

I have to try to get at least a couple of chapters in before that, though. Most of chapter 1 was frankly pretty boring and if I started playing other games at a spot like this, I'd probably forget all about SC for quite a while lol. At least Olivier is with me again which brightens things a bit, even if the rest of the party is dreadfully dull atm.

e: i probably sound pretty negative but believe me, i'm oddly really enjoying it. otherwise i think i wouldn't have spent the last 6 hours playing it lol

Looking for a midway FC save if anyone has it. Other threads get very little traffic so I figured this was the best spot. Can't find anything online. I need a PC save for FC around the Jenis Royal Academy or Varenne Lighthouse. Even early Chapter 3 would be fine.

When I reinstalled windows last winter I somehow didn't copy my save folder for TiTS and I haven't had the time or desire to replay half the game again, but I really want to finish. Especially now that SC is out. FC was actually one of the first games I booted up after I did my clean install of windows and my heart sank so low when I saw no saves.

You don't have a way to play the PSP version, do you? Cause I have a save literally right before heading to the academy that is 100% complete up to that point, haha.

Played a total of 3 hours across 2 different PCs, not a single issue to report.
Playing on hard, the mobs inside chests can be a pain with a bit of bad luck.

from what I played I'd say it feels more near being straight up impossible. unless it somehow gets easier when you get a full party with stronger characters (or maybe if the game gives you some really new broken arts), I don't see that being much doable. you can still try and do the first dungeon, and that's just the first dungeon.
on the other hand first run at nightmare in FC was more or less doable, annoying if you wanted the max BP but still doable. I'm restarting this one on hard or normal

Here's my save directory for FC. I'm a lazy bum so I didn't bother checking which saves satisfy your requirements but I made saves everywhere in FC so there should be one somewhere in there. I saved in chronological order, so save 1 is at the beginning of the game and save 84-ish is at the end. All of the saves are also on track to get max BP, so there's that too.

I did miss one chapter of Carnelia (or whatever it's called, the book that gets you the ultimate weapon) somewhere. Near the end I used Cheat Engine to get it, but that's about the only major thing that's missing from my saves.
