The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC |OT| More Olivier Than Ever

Does anyone know the song title of that track that plays on the title screen?

Piano tracks on the title screen almost always have that epic, melancholic feel to it. It reminds me of Xenoblade's main theme.

Just beat the prologue boss on hard. Holy shit that fight was tough. Required a lot of planning and lots of luck. I hope once I get more party members it will all become more manageable.

So are there any impressions yet? Good so far yeah? Looking forward to starting soon.

Question about something that happens early on that I've heard about. Apparently, after the Prologue,

you have to make a choice between Agate and Schera, I think? Does this have big story consequences? Or does everything play out mostly the same? Do you get both characters in your group eventually? Does anyone have any recommendations for a better/more enjoyable playthrough? I remember liking Schera more in FC, but I have read that Agate grows more as a character in SC. Any thoughts?

Thanks :)

I'm having a lot of fun so far. This is definitely living up to my years of expectations.

FC music, sewers, Estelle being awesome, it has it all so far. This world is just so intriguing to me. It's not a surprise that it's already at 7 games and counting.

All the prologue battles were way tougher for me. Once you pick up a couple more levels and stuff in Chapter 1 though, it feels pretty good.

Good to know. Also yeah, those prologue battles were downright brutal, especially the last one. Felt like a chump for sure at that point.

I'm having the same issue. It still works on FC but not on SC. Not exactly a game breaker but having used right sick on Vita and on PC for FC it does feel a bit off to use L and R.

Edit: It was easy enough to map L and R to the stick in DS4windows and it's working fine.

Yeah it's not a dealbreaker by any means, it just feels weird because I'm so used to using it subconsciously in town/maps. I felt like something was missing for like the first hour and I didn't really know what lol.

Question for both FC and SC, are there any good layout inputs for using the Xbox One controller on PC?

Largely the same, it's basically just dialogue differences, and yeah, the other character does join your party later. A while later, though.

As for who to go with, it's largely down to who you liked best in the original, I guess. Personally Agate's always in my final party because he's so damn strong (and yeah, he does grow a lot in SC) so it's always been an easy choice for me, but just go with your gut. The game's not hard enough for it to have any major effect on difficulty to begin with.

Chapter 2 of the campaign seems a lot easier than chapter 1, but I'm not long into it so who knows if that'll change or not.

Ralemont

not me
I'm in the prologue and already sensing what I loved about the first game.
Someone like Kevin could so easily - and does so easily in JRPGs - become a caricature defined by HUR HUR I HIT ON GIRLS. Instead he's also insightful (he knows Joshua won't be at home), sensitive (he's worried how Estelle will take that), and responsible (contacting the Guild to let everyone know where Estelle is)
. Trails takes cliches and turns them back into enjoyable tropes through nuance and general charm.

Ok, probably missing something obvious, but where is the (Chapter 1 side quest)
the best place to take the picture on Sapphril Tower?

I got the feeling that Kevin's first conversation was just him trying to break the ice with Estelle.

The best way to do it is actually to ignore the quest for a while and then get Dorothy to take the picture for you when she's with you later. Just try to take the pic anywhere at that point and Estelle will wonder if she should ask.

XSEED chose kind of a bad time to release, what with the Steam Halloween sale launching on the same day. SC was at the top of the charts and then immediately got buried. So GOG helping out is definitely a plus.

Ok, so I'm not in danger of losing out on the quest anytime soon then? I just worry about missing a lot of the bracer quests, so I barely advance the story until I have done them all.

It's still very surreal that this game is out in English, having followed the announcements since the beginning, playing through it in Japanese in 2011/2012 (and having it quickly become one of my favorite RPGs ever), and then the delays, delays, delays.

So awesome. Thank you, XSEED.

Alright Sony screwed me out of buying this before bed yesterday but here we go

KYX2J1C.png

Played FC on my EU account but don't want to wait any longer, so I just bought FC for the third time to have it all in one place. It's highly likely that I'll buy SC on Steam and EU PSN as well on a later date.

<3 XSEED and everyone who works there

Hi guys. Any clue about how to transfer my FC save to SC? I played FC on GOG some time ago, today I just started SC on steam but can't figure out how to import the save

thanks

Chapter 1 done! I knew who
Bluebanc
was because of his quest in FC, but holy shit this guy's a ham. His tone is handled very well in the script,
beginning like a twisted Olivier before evolving into someone more despicable and confused by his pomp and circumstance—he's admirable, though, when talking about his Gospel and the ancient centaur-bot he fixed up himself
. The deus ex machina for this encounter is legitimately interesting, too, since it mocks
Bluebanc
's trompe l'oeil with an implication that one's Arts can nullified/warded by even mundane things. Never has
Dorothy
been so casually amazing. Boss music was cool as well, but having Kloe and Olivier in my party made the boss easier than I expected.

It was mostly a reunion chapter, but a fun one and a good way to ease back into some of the more annoying backtracking in Liberl (Ruan's just really long to run across, lol). On Normal the game's been more challenging than FC so far, but without overdoing difficulty via stat jacking and such. Plot bombs have been delicious so far. There's no stopping this train for me. And I agree with everyone else on the new overworld theme, which is an improvement over FC's.

Is fishing worth it at all?
Extra ingredients for starters, but it's also a quick, somewhat reliable way to get mira early on, at least so far.

I finished up with the prologue and started Chapter 1. It still feels kind of unreal that I'm actually playing this game.

(Prologue + start of Chapter 1 spoilery stuff)
I figured out quite a ways before hand that the "crisis" was actually a test, but Estelle and Anelace's reaction to it was still pretty good. The prologue did a good job of setting up a bunch of the characters again, so that was fun. And then at the end we get some pretty big story stuff, between meeting some more of this society and then the scenes with Joshua traveling with Josette and her brothers. I'll be interested to see where this goes. I actually was kind of surprised that the game showed Joshua again this early; I was thinking it might be awhile until we saw him.

Anelace's "rival confession" bit with Estelle cracked me up. I decided to travel with Agate, which should be interesting. I'd like to get to know him better after the first game.

I've just been feeling giddy pretty much the whole time I've been playing. It's amazing to get into this after so long.

I'm 3 hours in and I think I'm going to restart on normal.
I'm at
grimsel fortress and there's an unavoidable fight there that is kicking my ass. It's the mob of 4 monsters that attacks you in a corridor, they keep getting turns over and over until they kill me before I can act. At best I can take out 1 with Estelle's full powered S-Craft.
What the hell is this crap?

go to c: users/[YOUR USERNAME]/appdata/Roaming/FALCOM and copy the ED6 folder. Open up the config program for SC and click "Save Folder" from there, go back one folder into the Saved Games/FALCOM folder and paste your ED6 folder there. Start a new game in SC and you'll be asked to choose a clear data file to transfer.

The prologue seriously has some of the hardest stuff in the game, considering you haven't got your whole party yet.

As a general thing though, yeah, this thread and impressions from friends are just supporting the idea most people who aren't masochists are best playing on normal. The game didn't have difficulty levels originally, and it shows -- unlike in later games where they say for 'for NG+ players' and really aren't that hard at all, in SC and 3rd (especially 3rd, which is definitely a step up in difficulty again), nightmare in particular really is for NG+ players.

Gotcha, thanks for all the information! I think part of my dilemma is
I loved how Schera interacted with the cast in FC - she was funny and having a drunk in your party is always great! lol But I feel like Agate didn't get enough development for me to like his character... however, if he grows more in SC, I wouldn't mind keeping him.

I just got to the casino in Chapter 1. Is the game programmed so I can card count the blackjack, or is the deck reshuffled after every hand?

Agate gets an enormous amount of development in SC, though a good deal of it is "unmissable" - he becomes a bit of a focus later on. Having him along early on does help set up some of the stuff you see later, though.

Well I'm pretty convinced to
pick Agate, so 99% sure I'll do that. I can always replay the game later on and choose Schera.
Thanks :)

Loving the crap out of this game. I think what Trails has that so many other JRPGs lack is just an abundance of heart. The game just has a level of polish and care to its characterization that few other games do. It's not horribly self serious, and more than anything, it's just a joy to be in this world.

Less of a joy is
tracking down monster ingredients for a bracer quest.
I have no idea how many I need, or which ones I am missing. Boo!

Guess it's spoiler, but Chapter 1 for me is
#TeamAgate
, at least for my first playthrough.

I want to go home and play this but I'm stuck at work.

Hot 2.5MB patch just came through on Steam. Seems to have fixed the right stick camera issue for me. I wonder what else?

And as expected, normal is too easy. Normal enemies were killing me with 3 hits (700+ damage per hit) and now they do less than 200.
Didn't even break a sweat to win the fight I was stuck on before.
Oh well, only took about an hour to get back to where I was and at least I got the satisfaction of beating the
Jaeger that attacks the guild.

Step 2 of
The Stolen Sign quest... "Search within the wisest one." I've tried every computer I could find, and every living soul from basement to roof. Help?

Edit Never mind, got it. For those who want to know,
it IS in CAPEL.

So I've learned you can't use the swordwind slash technique on the chest mobs in the Sewers. It crashes the game everytime on pc.

Actually scratch that. Any multitargetting ability crashes my game. I think I'm done until they fix some of these bugs because I have to restart everytime since it messes up my sound.
