The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is IGN's Game of the Show for E3 2016

I love reading the comments in IGN's article. Some people super salty.

Yeah, jesus christ. Some monkeys can't build houses, just fling shit. It's particularly amazing seeing the lengths to which people will go to deny this game any credit whatsoever for what it's accomplishing. People whose sole design critique is that this game 'steals' from other games, or that it's not doing things other games haven't, are pretty transparently ignorant where game design or proper analysis is concerned. Buncha screaming children up in there xp. The exact same types of rubes who were there bitching when Galaxy got high scores, because "How could Mario be game of the year, it's just Mario! How could Mario have the best soundtrack of 2007, that's impossible, it's just Mario! Must be because of nostalgia! Giving the game 10s because it's Mario! derpaherp"

I just realized that this will probably be the least glitchy open world game of all time. That is amazing to think about given all the things you can do in the game. Can you imagine Mario Club trying to test this game?

Xenoblade Chronicles X exist you know. And that one even with the size had almost zero glitches.

They really knocked it out of the park. It's kind of crazy, because it completely stole the show. I kind of feel bad for some of the other games, to be honest.

So maybe in retrospect, focusing their e3 on Zelda was an amazing idea.

Man, hindsight is awesome.

Some of these gifs I'm seeing... Wtf. Like I'm in awe at the crazy shit you can do. And they haven't even shown any dungeons or any of the special items yet! Well deserved win, and the most mechanically interesting looking game since MGS V IMO.

I haven't owned a Nintendo console in over 15 years and of all the games from E3, this was by far most impressive. I may have to pick a Wii U (for my kids...at least that's what I'll tell my wife) and grab this when it comes out. Zelda has been missing from my library for far too long.

People in the Treehouse thread were getting pissed that Nintendo was focusing 40min on a new mainline Pokemon and the first mobile Pokemon ever.

That's how absurdly good Zelda was this year.

wait for the NX

Zelda is so good - it, God of War, and Horizon were the best games at E3 that I saw.

Batman Arkham VR is the biggest surprise of the show - it's so, so good as well.

No, I'm already investing into Xbox Scorpio and a 4K tv next fall. I am on the fence about Neo and already own a PS4. I have zero interest in anything else from Nintendo to buy in on a new console from them. Otherwise, that would be the optimal choice.

Well...NX is probably going to be cheaper than Wii U when it comes out. Just going by what they're saying and what rumors are suggesting.

Link's blowing away all the haters.

But really, this game definitely deserved it. Nintendo's taken so much time and effort with this game and it definitely shows. I can't wait.

Much deserved. I thought Zelda was very impressive from my hands on. They integrated modern game design but managed to keep the spirit of Zelda. One think I had an issue with was the button mapping; I hope I'll be able to reconfigure in the final build.

You said you need to buy a Wii-U

if your going to buy a Nintendo console anyway to play this game, just get the NX.

It will run and look better, plus (I hope) backwards compatible.

Best of both worlds

Well then.....

I could be wrong, mind you, but...
- It's not competing with PS4K/Scorpio specs wise
- It won't have a Tablet controller if Zelda is anything to go by
- It's going to have a modern architecture
- It's probably going to have carts

All kinda adds up.

I feel like this game is going to be a big hit among lets-players/streamers because of all these quirky and unexpected interactions.
The dev team must be feeling great.

As weird as thought sounds, yea it was a good idea. Honestly, I didn't know the game demo would be this could. I think we were all just expecting "the next Zelda", which would still be hype but not any more than any of the other reveals.

But it really did take over the show, it seems. I know I could hardly pay attention to anything else. Same for my friends who haven't cared about Nintendo in years.

I still can't get over the lack of voice acting for the NPC's.

Every time that old man appears and you have to read lengthy text it takes me right out of the moment. It doesn't fit and sticks out even more now considering they have some voice acting.

Yes, I know the game will have more voice acting, but they should have gone all in and not half ass it. It's extremely disappointing.

Nah imaginary language grunting has worked in team ico games, in okami and in past zeldas.

Nintendo's questionable YouTube policies are still a thing you know? That's certainly going to be a Roadblock for let's plays

There might be no special items-- just runes and Sheikah Slate upgrades. Seems like it does a lot of things by itself that items would've done in the past (stop time, move objects, create ice pillars, bombs, etc.)

I was very skeptical of Nintendo this year,
like reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally skeptical to the point where I half expected to not be interested in anything they had for the next few years.
Like yeah Zelda was going to be good and all and I would play it because it's still great and all but I was getting kinda over the point where you could even muster any type of excitement.
Now?
I watched more Nintendo e3 stuffs than I ever did watched e3 stuffs since 2006 when they showed Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime and FFCC Wii!

Well deserved. The best thing about this game is how it will spawn copycats, so we come full circle, again. I personally can't wait for a Metroid game with all this nuance.

i never said the game wouldn't win the game of the show from media outlets, but nintendo winning e3 as best showing for one game over sony epic showing is not gonna happen.

No but I reckon it takes second place over MS in terms of hype and excitement.

Well deserved and certainly one of my games of the show from what I saw.I feel Nintendo may need to keep em coming in quality big hitters.
