besides selling stuff are there any other trial type things to get some quick rupees?

been doing the bird-man thing at Ridgeland tower which nets you 100 rupees for going 600m (well 80 since you have to pay him 20 to do it) and didn't know if there was another trial type thing elsewhere you can do for some easy $$$$.

For anyone who needs a large sum of rupees, there's a much quicker and easier way than selling your hard earned ores (which you should keep anyway for jewelry and upgrading armor). Right by the
Hebra
Tower, there's a cabin where you can play the
snowball bowling
mini-game. Once you figure out
from which position you need to throw the snowball to get a strike
, this is the quickest and most reliable method to farm rupees. You get
300 rupees everytime you score a strike. Every try costs 20 rupees, so best case scenario you gain 280 rupees in about 30 seconds. For a spare you get 100 rupees, 9 pins are worth 50 rupees and for 7-8 you at least get your stake back. So unless you fail terribly, you can only win.
But make sure you can't carry any more weapons with you or else you'll be rewarded with a weapon as first price instead of rupees.

I've been playing so much of this and have not done a single main dungeon yet. I've made some headway towards one in Gerudo but outside of that I've been focusing on gearing myself up, getting my stamina and hearts up, and heck I even found the Master Sword (but I don't actually have it yet :p).

Also did my first
Major Test of Strength shrine (not sure if there's another?)
and it felt so good to beat it without high level armor and just using a defense food.

Thanks bro. What are elixirs by the way? I see the word in the descriptions of the a lot of the items, but I don't know how to make one or how to use it or how long it lasts or anything.

There's just so many layers to the gameplay that it's BEYOND overwhelming for me. This is probably heresy to many, but I REALLY wish there was an easy mode, where stamina lasts way longer, weapons last way longer, arrows are much more prevalent, etc. ARGH, now I just made myself mad thinking about it because I would adore the game if there was something like that.

Elixers are made by mixing critters with monster parts. You cook them just like food.

I've got a mission on my Adventure Log
to track down and recall twelve memories. Man, it is tough to find a lot of them! The only one I've found so far because its location seemed wicked obvious was the first (the memory of the ceremony in that courtyard square with the four champions). I have no idea where the heck the others are though.

As far as character progression goes, so far I have been alternating heart container and stamina container upgrades. What is everyone's preference and why?

But man, this game... I have died more in BOTW so far than I think I did in every other 3D Zelda combined.

Remember people. If you want to try some rather risky travel methods just time stop an iron cube, pick a direction you launch and hit the cube, then climb on the side.

And hope the landing doesn't kill you.

Why haven't I thought of this yet? I should try this although it seems like nothing good can come of it.

In regards to your spoiler:
Go talk to the painter in Kakariko.

In the item description, something like a Lizalfo Horn, it'll say "Combine with a critter to make an elixir." Critters are things like insects, bugs, etc that you find in the fields (crabs too I think?). To properly cook you don't just toss things in a fire (like I was doing at first). There is a stone bowl near most fireplaces and you need to set that on fire (underneath it) and go into the menu "hold" the items and drop them into the bowl. You can cook meals and elixirs with it. I'd say its actually pretty essential early on, but the game drops significant hints about what to look for and cook with in each area.

Same. Once I got a lil swagger under my belt I got sloppy and started wading into battle recklessly...

... big mistake lol. The difficulty of fights can spike very quickly.

I mean, I'd LIKE to say it's fine, but I spent $60 on it so I wish I liked it more.

I feel of two very different minds with it, btw. I think there are INCREDIBLE things about the game. I just get so frustrated any time I have to deal with the survival or combat aspects of it.

But yeah, 2017 has been an embarrassment of riches so far.

If you really want to try more
For combat, for normal enemy combat you can use your free bomb and the weapon dropped by enemy(don't need to pause and switch, you can equip dropped weapon immediately), for tough enemy just use your good weapon, because you are often rewarded a good weapon from them. You should also use environment to combat

For survival bit, take some time to cook, take some time to explore and get some good armor

Hope you enjoy

Played a few hours, just got my horse. Some thoughts.

Very strong first impressions. No tutorial. Theres been a few moments that really made me smile - times where I'd go exploring thing "Theres probably nothing there but I'll check anyways," and there was something there. There was once where I barely got to the top of a mountain before losing stamina, and was then rewarded with an amazing view. Just finished with riding Epona through a beautiful field.

The game is really good.

I'm generally not one for open world games, and I actually liked Skyward Swords choice of a smaller world, but significantly more densely packed - it felt like you were always solving a puzzle of some sort. So, this is different. Its a different kind of game.

The shrines are neat, and its always nice finding one. But they almost always leave me with a feeling of "Thats it?" Some of them have really neat ideas, but they're so brief. Its almost liked wasted potential with some of these puzzles. I'll have to see how I feel about the dungeons when I get to one.

Thanks, guys. I have nothing else to play on the Switch for months, so I'm sure at some point I'll pick it up again and keep your advice in mind.

Man. Really bummed about the lack of an "easy" mode now that I have it in my mind though, lol.

Found some pics of the amiibo outfits. Going to force my friend to let me borrow his whenever I go back to the game to finish 100%
Those look great! I want to see the Sage's Sword and the Twilight Bow so much, someone hurry and get those asap. :P

God damn these Korok seeds. I have been echo the dolphin (
how well can you swim through rings?
) and pro mount soccer player (r
olling boulders between 2 trees off a clif)
And this is all on Greater Plateau and Dueling Peaks area. Started to day with 6 seeds and ended with 43 seeds. I said WOW! I still have to check Dueling Peak and the area's west of it (areas around the stables. Got to put on my hiking boots).

I'm going to be a Korok seed hunting master by the time I get to the first dungeon (who knows when that will be. Probably a few weeks from now)

There's a Shrine in Lost Woods I just don't get...

It's the one near the Deku Tree, not part of the "Korok Trials". You got to "look at the constellations", but I don't get how they line up with the holes on the floor for glowing balls.

Been having a blast with the game and have played it at least 2-3 hours everyday since launch at on the Weekend played 4-6 hour sessions. Only have 3 areas open, but loving the exploring and discovering things.

Anyone know why they took out the percent complete in the map screen? The Game Guide talks about it being on the map screen but it is not in the game.

I REALLY WISH there was a Stat screen. Like when you find those weird creatures when you solve a puzzle and you get the seed. Well you also turn in those seeds for items etc. but you don't know how many you find because there is no stats. I know there are 900 of them, but wish there was a stat screen that let you know how many total you have found.

Best tip I could do without giving it away is
the torches on the side are important

I found this to be the hardest one so far though.

Loading screen does tell you how many Korok seeds you've collected and a # of Shrines completed as well.

I would love a stat book though, # of deaths, longest paraglide, highest dive, longest life, etc.

Finding the
Lost Woods, finding my way through it through incredible atmosphere, completely randomly stumbling upon the Master Sword and Deku Tree, a shrine, then heading out of that area into another section of the Lost Woods leading me to Lake Saria where I solved a puzzle involving putting specific objects into the mouths of trees activating another shrine
has brought me the kind of joy and magic that my 13 year old self expected from Ocarina of Time after reading about it so much in Nintendo Power.

Maybe the tech just wasn't there with Ocarina, but apparently, at least for me, it's here now. This is the game I've wanted for decades.

I was running around just now in a thunderstorm and proceed to remove my metal shield\weapons. While thinking I was safe I try to pull a chest out of a lake using Magnesis... forgetting the chest is metal.. :(

# of deaths would just say "Too many to count"

This is probably the most unforgiving Zelda since the NES ones.

I love all the references in the place names. There are Minish Cap references even.

One's really on the nose too...
it's like "Minshi Woods" or something along those lines.

Also one area near Rito Village reminds me of the Temple of the Winds from Minish Cap. Not to mention that area had robotic-like guardians as well.

Don't think I've seen any Oracle references, or I'm missing them.

This one was bullshit. The only one I came across so far that didn't seem 'fair'.

Answer:
Count the constellations on the wall in the back. How many times do you see the first constellation, the second, etc...? Put the ball in the right hole. (The pillars are numbers 1 to 5)

Wow this game is so good.

I gotta know more about the development of this game. How is it that it's so much grander than Skyward Sword? Don't get me wrong -- I loved Skyward Sword. But this game is like 10x as ambitious. What changed for the development team...?

Gorgeous shots, but damn... whoever took them needs to turn Pro HUD mode on. The game is meant to be played without those unnecessary elements.

Also, I'm really wanting those outfits. Can you stable the amiibo horses?

A few things:

1: Going back to the series roots. AKA the original Legend of Zelda for inspiration
2: They wanted to overhaul the game and played around with a bazillion different ideas
3: Had help from Monolith, aka Xenoblade guys.

So I was in the large plain area East of Kakariko Village Near Lanaryu Mountain.

It was night and I seen a light shooting up into the sky about halfway up some cliffs on the edge of the plains. I attempted to approach it (and even tagged the spot with my Sheika Slate) but it turned morning and the light disappeared before I got there.

I decided to still check out the place as I had marked it but that also turned up nothing.

Anyone have any clue what that was?
