I've only done two shrines so far but I can't believe how good it is

It's a little framey at spots, which is a bummer, but I'm constantly being surprised by it and it feels so good to play

I gotta work 12 hours today, finishing at midnight, I have a ten week old puppy to entertain, there's a bunch of shit in the garden I need to clean, and I'm spending most of Saturday celebrating my anniversary.

Why is life so cruel

Have you installed the patch?

Disclaimer: have been in a lab all day, so I didn't follow that thread very closely outside of the initial suggestions that the patch might improve things.

Sounds like you could use a break...

Yeah, I have. It was only really bad when you first get out into the open, but it was noticeable. Not unplayable, though

Amazon does this every time I get a release date game

They wait until the absolute last final minute to ship it and it gives me a heart attack every time

8:30 and it still hasn't shipped, but I know this isn't even the latest I've had games ship before getting them just fine the next day.

People have had their games (not Zelda specifically, just games in the past) arrive and still show that they haven't shipped. So I wouldn't worry too much yet... give that heart a rest. ;)

Amazon hasn't sent me a late game in years, and they always not show it as shipped until the wee hours of the morning of release and yet I always get nervous lol

Will it be possible to purchase the game through the eShop?
anyone purchased the game digitally?

It's listed as "Coming Soon" at the moment, there's rumors that it won't be available until 9AM PST tomorrow, but it sounds like it was released at midnight in places where it's already March 3rd.

Cool that's good to know. I'll wait for it to go on sale on the eShop, I'm expecting to receive my switch by Monday.

I won't dive into BotW too much yet (I'm concerned about running into Horizon/Nier story spoilers, so they're first to finish!), but I did spend an hour messing around with BotW, and I'm thoroughly charmed. Some of the jaggies and textures are not so kind with the Wii U version, it looks much better on the game pad. I still don't regret choosing the Wii U version for now, and picking up the Switch version somewhere down the line. I don't love the way the buttons have been mapped, but controlling Link feels great, as does climbing.

Mini-babble: Skyward Sword and Overly Controlling Helicopter Parent Nintendo drove me mad, because it was like Nintendo had made this beautiful chocolate cake, and every time I even thought about having a piece, Nintendo would bombard me with 'have you washed your hands?' 'have you done your homework?' 'sit up straight!' 'brush your hair!' 'did you feed the dog?' etc. Along comes Breath of the Wild, and Overly Controlling Helicopter Parent Nintendo turned into No Fucks Given Nintendo. No Fucks Given Nintendo is amazing, and is more of the 'gorge yourself on cake, have a party, we don't care if you have an loud orgy in the living room' parent kind. Bad metaphors aside, the player respect and freedom is immensely appreciated. Even just balantly ignoring Zelda's tutorial request, and climbing up a giant tree and stealing eggs whilst Link was in his kinda-underwear felt waaay better than it had any right to. I've tasted freedom, Nintendo, and you can't take it away from me. Also, no pants. I look forward to no pants speedruns.

For me, BotW really feels like Shadow of the Colossus more than anything else, in both art direction and mechanics - even though I can see other influences, both Zelda and non-Zelda. It was kind of like coming home to SotC in a weird way, especially with the climbing! Climbing in BotW feels great, so I'm going to Spiderman the shit out of Hyrule. No surface will be safe from my climbing.

All great if they hadn't been broken up by about 8 hours of dowsing, backtracking, and Imprisoned fights. I even liked the controls, but the pacing of the game is just fucked right up.

Put me in the "how is the Wii U version?" camp. Not sure if I should download this today or wait for Taiwan to get the Switch (probably next week).

Dowsing is optional, backtracking isn't as bad as most 3d zelda padding, and the imprisoned fights are super short.

I'm not much of a Zelda fan, but fuck me I am so excited for this game.

Not to mention the Switch Presentation trailer; the cinematography, the music, it's an absolute masterpiece.

Been playing for an hour or so. just messing about playing around, not doing anything interesting. Map appears to be huge. I spent just over an hour, i probably covered 15% of the area I'm in, the area I'm in appears to be about 1-2% of the map size judging from the menu.

Graphically, it's a bit lo-res, and up close you can tell it's a wii U game. but the overall effect comes together really well when you take int eh scope and little details.

Dowsing is the shittiest kind of optional possible. Fi jumps out at you and forces you to listen to her talk about it, and then the game beeps at you until you try it out. Also, this doesn't happen one time. It happens repeatedly throughout the game.

Trying to defend Skyward Sword padding is hilarious tho.

I had almost forgotten about the dowsing. Wow was that ever bad.

I can't believe the same people who made that decision designed this game.

Do we know if the day 1 patch actually enhances performance / frame rate? I read conflicting reports earlier today.

We need to wait for DF but I have the patch installed and there is a part in the beginning that only lasted a few seconds where it dipped while changing weather. That's all I noticed so far but I'm only 30 minutes into it.

So I ordered the switch version at best buy and the website says I can pick it up now but the email says March 3rd. Has anyone picked up today? I don't want to drive over just to get shutdown.

Does anyone know about the language options for the WiiU version on a North American WiiU? Am I stuck with the (imo) subpar English VO?

Should I get an Amiibo? I hate the idea of Amiibos, but for some reason (nerd hype), I think I want the Zelda one. Do the various Zelda ones do different things?
