The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild |OT| A Link from the Past

I'm sharing this in both threads.

I'm currently knee deep in Horizon and BotW and I've never felt such a gaming nirvana like this in the past. Sure I've played amazing games but I can't recall two legendary games SIMULTANEOUSLY.

It's a blessing and a curse because I'm torn on which to play every moment of my free time. Both of the worlds on display pull me in and transport me to them so effortlessly. BotW with its many wonders and discovery and Horizon with its sense of danger, gorgeous visuals and sublime combat.

I know deep down I'm going to have to commit to one of them and put the other aside so I can finish one but in this moment I can't choose. For now I'll continue whoring myself out :P

Gaming bliss.

How long does rain last? I got caught halfway up a series of cliffs I'm scaling and I don't want to give up on it so I'm crouching here in a cave for like ten minutes because I can't make it up the next face
I think it depends.. in a certain zone it's basically constant due to story reasons.

It lasts a good while sometimes. You can make a fire if you have wood and a flame source and sit next to it until morning.

Yeah, I'm positive I was able to parry back their shots in the Plateau. Maybe your timing has been a bit off? Not sure. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
Is there an indication of correct timing? Link would perform the shield swing animation and the laser seemed to deflect at odd angles, but it never went back at the guardians.

Haven't played the game yet, but I will soon. Is it possible to
keep wearing that Gerudo outfit I keep seeing on Twitter for the whole game? It looks pretty dang cute.

I've never really taken the time to count the weather forecast cycles but you can keep an eye on the forecast below the map to see what's coming up next and how far into the current weather forecast you are.

If you're actually in a cave then there's always whipping up a campfire to pass the time.

You can keep wearing it once you get it, but actually getting it might take a while depending on the order you do things.

Am I right in thinking Guardians can't be killed before leaving the Great Plateau? I could pelt away at the broken down ones scattered around but never seemed to do any damage. I'd go through 30+ arrows and their health bars wouldn't tick down after a certain point.

Also, I just remembered about the Cryonis power. I left Lake Hylia last night thinking I'd return with a leaf and snag a raft to explore further. I could've just been making blocks in the water. Guess I'll be heading back there tonight.

With enough determination and endless bombs, you could

No. I killed a stationary one before getting the glider. Took awhile and a lot of arrows.

Another question: are Magnesis controls just absolutely the worst or am I doing something wrong

D-pad to push and pull things away from your position, control stick to move the object itself, it kinda clicks when you're not just flailing it around.
Though you can't seem to rotate, that's a bummer.

Well that was interesting.

(location spoiler) On
Eventide Island
, are you supposed to kill the Hinox? I have no idea but I ended up using a lightning storm and surrounding him with metal chests, haha.

Thanks Zelda-God, for raining destruction upon my enemies!

Hey anyone can help for ( area spoilers) L
ost
W
oods

Im at the point where there are 2 fires and a torch nearby and I dont see the way to go... I tried lighting the grass on fire and using the paraglider to check the area but I see nothing to show where to go... anyone can give me a hint?

pay attention to the fire

Just parry the laser beams and you can kill guardians anytime. :P

Zora's domain sidequests
Anyone know what
scale of light
refers to?
Where are
the ceremonial trident and Mei?

It took me a short while to get accustomed to moving stuff around. It eventually clicked and now I can move stuff pretty fast and accurately. Just practice it seems.

Moving stuff close and far was the most difficult to get down.

I really love how everyone in this thread basically has their own story to tell. BOTW seems to be a really great "water cooler game", as Yahtzee put it in some of his Zero Punctuation reviews.

Talking about Yahtzee I'm really interested in seeing the inevitable ZP review of this. He's often really disliked Nintendo's lack of change in their games.

Wow

My friend was over and wanted to see the beginning of the game. He hit new game without reading carefully and I lost my save file. Was about 10 hours into the game.

the Trident is in the water on the west side of the domain. Jump off the domain into the water and activate magnetism to see and pull it out.

I summoned epona and then tried to go to a stable via fast travel and I can't get her to spawn again with my amiibo? Anyone else get an issue like this? I've savescummed the spawn 20+ times now and no epona.

Wheres the guy who revives horses?

I dont even know how to make a fire just now lol. How do you do that?

Drop a wood bundle on the floor, set it on fire, instant campfire.
Not sure you can cook outside of designated spots though, best you can do with a campfire is drop apples and raw meat into them.

since i'm anticipating follow up questions...
- Wood bundles come from trees, chop or blast one down and then blow up the fallen trunk to get wood bundle
- Fire from either flaming weapons or clashing a metal weapon with flint rocks.

OMG I love climbing so much

I have yet to upgrade my stamina but finding a way up higher is so fun

and one of the most fun things is cheese bombing high powered enemies from high up until they are dead and going down to collect the spoils

Ouch... sorry to hear, that's pretty terrible. Friend better buy you some beer and a nice pizza.

So I just went through
the lost woods and arrived at the master sword. I've seen people say you need 13 hearts to get it but I also remember people saying something about the memories in relation to pulling out the master sword. So my question is do I just have to get 13 hearts or is there another method?

Same predicament, although I have now succumbed to the fact that Zelda will now rule my free time. Its sublime in every sense, Horizon is cool but not on the same level as Zelda is relaxing as fuck and Horizon doesnt give me that same vibe.

Yeah. He only played for about 5 minutes too. It just creates a whole new set of saves.

That. Fucking. Sucks.

Hopefully you can find a way to keep things interesting when doing the 10 hours again. Get a pizza and try to make the same progress in half the time?

Where is Korok seeds guy after you found him the first time. I have so many of them now.

The two stables around the hyrule field area as I recall, as for where he goes after that, I wish I knew!

I've been questing to find the korok forest all day, just three more towers left to uncover in the hopes of finally finding it for unloading my 50 seeds!

...well that last bit sounds a bit crude.

Guys! Feed the stable dogs lots of food!

Once it started following me around, I decided to feed it one more drumstick. It got super happy, ran to the entrance, and sat waiting for me. I ran to it, and it left the village, then sat again in the forest. THIS BITCH IS CURRENTLY LEADING ME THROUGH THE WOODS! I haven't found out why yet. I'm just freaking out that I stumbled upon this mechanic! What is it, boy? Is Timmy in the well?!

The sense of discovery of this game is magnificent.
