The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel delayed to Spring 2023

Looks like Elden Ring is front runner for GOTY now that this is out of the way. Unless Starfield or God of war are God like......

Yes I did that

So that will have been 6 years since the last one. This better be a fucking awesome game. I'm expecting a brand new map etc at this point, rather than the direct sequel using a variation of the same map we were originally led to believe it would be.

No problem. Take your time with those dungeons, and we will have the best zelda ever, and also best game of 2023 easily.

I bought a Wii U in 2015 cause I wanted it ready for when BOTW1 came out. All those delays only for it to finally get gimped so it would have parity with the Switch version. I was so pissed I told myself I wouldnt buy a Switch until BOTW2 was on the shelves. I still dont have a Switch and here we are. Wow.

not surprised but still a little disappointed. they can take all the time they need to perfect it :messenger_ok: i have enough stuff to be playing anyway

in other news....Elden Ring wins GOTY. Bow before your Elden Lord!

well maybe you'll luck out and you'll get BOTW2 with the Switch 2 or Switch Pro :messenger_squinting_tongue:

Half expected this when they announced Pokemon as their big 2022 holiday title.

Gives me hope it will have proper dungeons if they are taking this long to make a sequel that'll recycle a lot of elements from the previous one.

lol How does it take 6 years to make a direct sequel? It is not even a complete reboot like BOTW. IIRC, they mentioned how they would be reusing the same map as BOTW in addition to adding new areas.

So why has it taken a year longer than Horizon which itself took a 5 fucking years?

What is going on with these studios?

P.S Dont want to toot my own horn, but I brought this up in the Initiative thread. This is not a Microsoft problem. EVERYONE is struggling to put AAA games out. It's almost like they forgot to scale up from last gen.

So... They really want it to win GOTY, don't they? Can't blame them for being scared of Elden Ring tbh
Nintendo literally doesn't give a fuck about GOTY awards other than for marketing purposes. IF BOTW2 won only a handful of them, they slap it in a video and call it a day. GOTY warring is silly. 2022 just has a crowded release schedule, so they are giving it some space for polish. And perhaps a new hardware revision release.

Maybe because they're not making the same game and after everyone and their mothers said this is the best Zelda game ever made now they have to make the new best Zelda game ever made

This is the first time ive seen this take, but it makes a lot of sense. I always thought Switch was more powerful despite the difference in tflops because it was on a new generation of GPU.

But I have always wondered why the game was downgraded from the initial reveal despite it releasing on new hardware that was supposedly more powerful.

The original Wii U Zelda demo looked stunning too. It was realtime and you could move the camera around. I get that it was an indoors demo compared to the open world BOTW but the difference is generational.

Lol who did not see this coming, most likely a fall 23 game, really hope they added some real dungeons this time, dont know how nintendo gets away with releasing so few games, i guess as they make so much profit on hardware, they have no need to.
