From the day this movie came out, I've yet to see a vampire movie to top it-- not even Interview With A Vampire. And who can forget that creepy opening music "Cry little sister" ? :Shivers:

"Lost Boys" was a pretty good vampire movie. Funny that the guy that directed this and "Falling Down" also ruined the Batman franchise...

Not by a longshot.

Easily beaten by Blade for action and eye candy.

Easily beaten by From Dusk Till Dawn for character and dialogue.

If you like artsy stuff, Nadja and The Hunger are better.

Nosferatu and Dracula (1932, d. Tod Browning) are also superior for their excellent visual elements.

I think The Lost Boys loses a bit of its luster with each viewing...

Did anybody ever see The Addiction? It came out around the same time as Nadja but I never caught it. It sounded kind of interesting in that it would treat vampirism in the same was as narcotic dependence or alcoholism.

And does anyone know where I can find images of the movie Batman Fights Dracula? :D

It was good, but my favorite is Interview with the Vampire

Edit: I'd have to give The Lost Boys the nod for best soundtrack though

Love The Lost Boys. Great 80's cheese.

To those already mentioned, I'd add:

Fright Night(my personal favorite)
Martin
Vampire's Kiss

If you're looking for something a little more recent, Werner Herzog's Nosferatu remake is an absolutely amazing film.

I kind of prefer Fright Night 2 to the first one, but both are pretty awesome (and way 80s). 80s horror flicks are like my favorite film genre, next to European art porn.

Near Dark and Francis Ford Copalla's Dracula are both very good. As are the old classics. I also really like the Lost Boys.

INterview is the best vampire movie imo. Well acted and great story (book is wayyy better of course). The Lost boys is cool because of Keifer but it is rather hokey and cheese laden on retrospect. Diane Weist ... I used to have a thing for her. :)

Thank goodness somebody mentioned Near Dark-- which is the best that I can think of.

Also, no Innocent Blood?

I like Near Dark a notch or two more than the rest, with Lost Boys and Innocent Blood in the next tier. And Interview is pretty lame, if you ask me.

More props for Fright Night... great movie.... Fright Night II? Not so great however Female vampire > Male vampire.

The Breed! Best Vampire movie ever! ;) Just needed more naked Ling Bai though. WTF? Ling Bai is in Episode III?!?!??!

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) (post-production) (as Bai Ling) .... Senator Bana Breemu

Whoa.

The Hunger is one of the better vampire movies, great atmosphere... just a shame it gets most of it's reputation due to the lesbian scene...

Quality flick, tho I'd have to say Near Dark is probably best.

From Dusk till Dawn was 100 times better.

I believe this news.

I also like the original Salem's Lot, and Near Dark.

Yeah, if only cause Chris Sarandon was a smooth pimp in it. I remember watching it as a kid and being a bit startled cause I had windows in my room that lead right into the street and could see the other houses.

+1 Near Dark!

That said, Shadow of the Vampire is where it's at.

Lost Boys was certainly good at the time, but the best part is the old geezer's line at the end :D

I've heard that Chronos is good but I've never seen it. It's directed by the guy who did Hellboy.

You know I saw Chronos EONS ago and had no idea what it was called, it was an interesting movie, it's only in the last few years that I discovered what the name of the movie was(picked it up on DVD too though I haven't watch it again yet), I've never really thought of it as a vampire movie though.
