The Mario, Tetris, and D&D movies will all have come out next week - will you be watching any of them?

Dungeons & Dragons and Mario for me, Tetris looks a dull as ditchwater.
give Tetris a chance if you have AppleTV. I felt the same as you before going in, but it really surprised me. About 2/3 of the way through I didn't want it to end. At times it felt like peak Scorsese!

This is gonna sound like the most boomer thing ever, but watching anything in theaters nowadays is just pure torture. Every kid and their mother have this urgent need to constantly take selfies, talk/scream, behave like shit during the movie which ruins the experience. Only viable option is to wait it out several weeks when the hype has died down A LOT.
Streaming it is then, as usual. They all look like trash though, probably not missing out much. Tetris MAYBE, when I'm extremely bored. Last movie that actually blew me away in theaters was Dune, in an almost empty screening.

The movie is great. So as usual do the opposite of GAF and go see this.

Still not for me, even if it was considered the greatest film of all time. I'd rather get a hand job from my grandmother than watch a D&D film.

I'm going to be honest, It's surprising that a lot of people here don't want to see tetris.
A movie about publishers fighting for the rights to a game for a new generation of consoles across countries that have differing political and economic standards. And NEOGAF isn't interested?

This place is healing.

I'm joking, but tetris will probably be legitimately fun for you if you're at all interested in the business side of games

I will download it, it's already available on the various torrent sites.

I'm taking the kids to see Mario next week just like every other high profile kids movie. Might watch the D&D movie when I can stream it. Tetris? I don't think I will bother.

I mean, of course I'll see Mario at some point. Probably not in the theaters.

D&D does look a bit to Marvel-ish, but there aren't enough fantasy movies out there, so I'll check it out (again not in theaters).

Didn't even know a Tetris movies was coming. Watched the trailer. Eh. Will wait for reviews.

D&D looks tacky as fuck.
Lol if you think this one looks tacky, watch the one that came out in 2000. That movie is pure fucking comedy cheese, and is a great "it's so bad it's good" kind of movie.

Looking forward to Mario, I don't know if/when I will get around to seeing D&D, since I am not a huge D&D guy (my coworker is pretty pumped, but he is really into D&D) and Tetris...I just don't know.

Tetris kind of feels like the oddball, because it's supposed to be somewhat based on the history of Tetris, but I highly doubt there were fists fights and KGB involvement with the game so I don't know. It feels like they are really exaggerating the story to make it more "watchable" where I personally would have found a more serious documentary of it way more interesting. Unless I am really off base and this is really how it all went down, but uh yeah, I highly doubt that's the case, so I will likely pass on Tetris.

Watching Tetris right now. Watched over 1 hour and it's really good. I knew this gonna be good when I watched the trailer released by Apple.

Hope the other two will be decent adaptations as well.

You're literally posting this on a gaming forum, where people play regularly play games that make D&D high class literature in comparison. The irony of these posts coming from the gaming-side is killing me.

How is D&D any different from Elden Ring or Harry Potter?

Tetris is fucking amazing.
yep. the negativity in this thread is baffling. it's not just one of my favourite videogame movies of all time, but one of my favourite movies of all time, period. The subject matter obviously elevates it greatly for me personally, but should resonate with almost everyone on this forum. my wife bloody loved it too and wants to watch it again soon.

I feel the Mario movie will not just be "bad" it could cause a table-turning effect where Mario takes Sonic's place as the most bitched about thing in gaming, More People will most likely start light-ing up on Sonic and Sega again, while Mario goes through a heavy decline, that is the same amount of similar scrutiny - Sonic has faced for the past 15 years, will now be applied to Mario

Tetris is the only one that looks interesting.

Mario is for children, so not for me.

D&D is based on a game I have no knowledge of. The film comes across as Marvel mixed with generic fantasy. Hard pass.
I will watch Tetris as well. Heck it's free so if it's bad, no big loss.

Might still catch Mario with my kids though.

I watched the trailer for Tetris and was amazingly bored.

I won't watch the other two even though I saw DND had good reviews.

I was only aware of the Mario movie, so I'm probably gonna see that.

D&D seems interesting to me. I'll check that out. I really don't see how a game like Tetris can be made into a good movie. I guess you can make a movie that includes Tetris in some way, but a Tetris movie? I dunno..

That article is outrage clickbait because there's nothing like that in the movie.
Based on the trailer I got the impression that it might be too lighthearted for my taste. I don't like it if the heroes feel the need to make fun of almost every danger they encounter - it doesn't feel like an exciting adventure, but more like a comedy show then.

Just got back from D&D - very good movie. Go see it GAF.

Saw D&D and it was just a basic, average, and meh movie to me. I already have my ticket for the mario movie and I'm not going to see Tetris. Should have went with my gut for d&d and not watched it. D&D should have been a netflix movie.

Where is the irony? Because I'm posting on a gaming forum means I should automatically be interested in D&D?

People have different tastes and interests. That's it. Nothing shocking or ironic about that.

Have tickets to see Mario. Last time I was at the theater was when the first Sonic film released. Tetris also looks good. Will watch it at some point.

No, i don't care about childish cg movies since shrek 3 and tetris seems silly AF.

I was a bit interested in the d&d one before reading about that emasculated male lead bullshit.

I know just about nothing about D&D game but the critics that I trust gave the movie mostly positive reviews and I am not really surprised: Daley and Goldstein made Game Night and that was one of the few post-Apatow comedies that actually had any cinematic flair to it. Also, Daley as an actor was in Freaks and Geeks and its best episode is D&D related so it all ties up together nicely.

I want to see all three but there are issues I have to deal with. Sadly D&D is not being shown in English in my part of Japan, which really angered me as that's very rare for my cinema to do to not show the English version and I was really looking forward to it. Mario could also be the same situation because it's a kids movie which would suck as well. At least the Tetris movie is an easy option for me.
