The Mario, Tetris, and D&D movies will all have come out next week - will you be watching any of them?

It's pretty good if you like kid movies.
I saw it. It's alright, strictly average at best. Not as good as it could have been - and not up to the standard of a Pixar feature, for example. Most of the jokes simply didn't land - the full theatre was dead silent for most of the movie.

Tetris had potential, but the trailer bored me.

The trailer bored you? lol

It's on me, but I expected a movie about Tetris to be visually and aurally striking like the game.
My clown ass had unrealistically high expectations for a Tetris movie. lmao

Just because I thought it was boring it doesn't mean I think it's gonna bad or anything. I never said anything about the quality of the movie.

It's just not the kind of movie I'd be drawn to, and I'm not a movie guy in general anyway.

Edit: Take a shot for each time I typed "movie".

Pixar freaking sucks lol. They use the same formula every time and it's boring. Before the end of act 2, the buddy system has a falling out and one of them has to save the other.

Mario was a kids movie with nostalgia jokes to entertain the gamer adults. My theater was the opposite.

The point I'm making is I disagree lol

I'm glad you liked it! My kid really had fun and that's what most important to me. Jack Black was great BTW

I gave up on Game based movies after Battle Ship, and the trailers for all 3 don't give me confidence.

The premise for the Tetris one is the most ridiculous but not enough to trick me into watching it.

I understand this view. To me though, there is always something to take from a movie, whether it's a true experience that makes me wish it never ended, or it's mostly filler but the director has worked in stuff I liked before.

For me the reason I would push through for these 3 is that they are video game movies, and I would like to see where the state of that subsector is. The better these get, the more likely my favourite games will have extra media for me to enjoy.

And all 3 of turned out good, really. Only D&D is worth seeing in theaters for me though

What kind of fantasy shit was that Tetris movie, I thought It would be a realistic retelling of the story but most of the story seems made up for dramas sake... Fucking car chases in Moscow?

Wasn't that in the trailer though? I think they already gave away it was going to be a James Bond drama.

Mario was very average but I laughed more than I should of because of all the references and I really enjoyed the Tetris movie

Haven't see. D&D not sure if I will. Tetris was alright, though way over the top. It kind of sucks they though that would be necessary to interest people. I liked Super Mario a lot, it pretty much delivered on everything you'd expect from Mario. Only big criticism is they really gave no fucks about motivation for the plot to continue. It was so much fun that ended up a moot point.

I'd suggest you give the dnd movie a try. If you enjoyed mario as a simple, fun adventure, then dnd will be amazing even if you aren't as familiar to the universe.

Read through the thread if you can, every single person who's gone to see dnd enjoyed it. The marketing failed it massively

This is gonna sound like the most boomer thing ever, but watching anything in theaters nowadays is just pure torture. Every kid and their mother have this urgent need to constantly take selfies, talk/scream, behave like shit during the movie which ruins the experience. Only viable option is to wait it out several weeks when the hype has died down A LOT.
Streaming it is then, as usual. They all look like trash though, probably not missing out much. Tetris MAYBE, when I'm extremely bored. Last movie that actually blew me away in theaters was Dune, in an almost empty screening.
My local imax theater put in motorized recliners and the Rows are completely blocked off from each other. It has greatly cut down on idiots interfering with the experience.

Just need to see D&D now.

Enjoyed Tetris and Mario, personally. Mario was obviously very simple but pretty good fun. Tetris was great apart from the awful chase sequence.

Never saw the trailer, my Russian brother in law just put it on during a dinner. Fucking sucked, they surely had a good laugh.

If you look at the trailer it's presented as a james bond thriller. It reminded me of those dumb trailers for the Battleship movie and I don't feel like going through that again.

Took the kids to see D&D yesterday. I went in expecting very little, however it was surprisingly great. It's a Fun, light hearted fantasy adventure. Even managed to get a chuckle or two me. Sort of reminded me of the 80's Willow movie (not the trash tv series).
