So, going by that list, it would seem the PCBs to go for would be Progear, and then ESP.Ra.De.

I'm pretty positve on Ibara/Kuru coming, at least next gen, if not on 360. Espgaluda PS2 is a fantastic port. Hopefully they will tuck in Dangun in their next VN title.

And hoping an early 2014 iOS release SDOJ to whet the whistle.

Spending my day off playing some Futari Black Label. The jump from original to maniac is killing me, totally different games. Need to reprogram brain to bomb more.

Ughhh, you gotta be kidding me. They play completely differently and have wildly divergent themes...so you're gonna treat them like sequels, Cave? I have no interest in Guwange but was anticipating DF.

...Maybe I'll pick Guwange up after I earn enough free points from Bing Rewards, just to put a +1 on the sale counter. :/

Good news about SDOJ. Would've been a damn shame for them not to put that on the 360.

I wish they were less stupid about their older games, though. Seriously, locking Dodonpachi away in a VN is the dumbest idea. Literally, the dumbest one.

I'm pretty sure they know they're different games and not sequels, but by that they mean they "tried" xbla for pre-2000 shmups, and they aren't going to release more stuff this way.



Yeah, Yagawa did DFK BL and Akai Katana.

Of th Cave games I haven't played, Ketsui is my most wanted. With Mushi HD out now, a Japanese 360 is looking more attractive. Need to pull the trigger soon.

Although now that I give it some more thought, maybe finishing Dangun Feveron completely for the 360 and then not releasing it is the dumbest idea. Dunno, lots of dumb shit going on at Cave.

I'm just sad that Dodonpachi seems like it'll never get a decent console port. I've never actually played the game as a result, but I've always wanted to :-/

I'll buy that PCB someday. Someday soon!

Eum, the PSone version is very good.
The Saturn one is as well, but certainly a notch below the PSone version.

Greatest news in a long time. Do you think there's any chance that SDOJ will get a western release, since this generation's time seems to be running out? At the moment it seems that Mushi HD remains a japan-exclusive as well. I think I really should seriously consider a J-360. What is the easiest and cheapest option if I want one only in order to play shmups?

I guess we'll see what RSG puts out after Under Defeat, but it could be Mushihimesama HD.
(not seeing RaidenIV(not out in europe), Radilgy or Shikigami no Shiro III happening, for some reason, but I could be wrong.)
we're far in this gen, but the 360 remains and will remain popular for quite sometime in europe (RSG) and in the us, so I don't see why RSG would not release DDP SDOJ if previous shmups release were profitable for them.

but as a reminder, if you really want Ketsui and/or DDP DaiÔJô on 360, it's pretty safe to bet that a jp system will remain the only way.

I should add to that, that I got a jp system last year, and it's my only 360 (sold my PAL system) and my knowledge in japanese is ok, but not quite good enough for RPGs and such, but you should know you can find a lot of ASIAN release (from Hong Kong and Singapore) that are pretty much the american version but with asia/japan 360 region code :)
(also there's some places to find RELIABLE info on 360 region locking like http://www.abgx360.net/verified.php (if you know how to read it) for example I found the other day that I can get a cheap PAL version of BlazBlue CS Extend and it play on my system with english text and is the same as the english asiaa release)

Yeah, you're right. I think there's no chance that they will get published outside of japan. But if it's only those two, I think I could manage. But having to miss out on four cave titles would hurt too much.

don't forget the ketsupachi port on the disc-based dodonpachi daifukkatsu black label. Not that it would make the console any more worth it, but 95% of my US games play just fine on my J360 lol. Often times, the only games that don't work are "localized" versions of games like El Shaddai and Deathsmiles (US).

We're also still missing Deathsmiles II, but maybe they'll skip that because they can't really release it in the US anymore. Would be nice if it got a GoD release at least like in the US.

Any recommendations/sources for getting an affordable Jpn 360 slim? (assuming that's the most reliable model, sure wouldn't want an import console to die on me)

Wouldn't a modded console create the problem of him not being able to get any of the DLC for these releases?

Depends on where you live I guess.
I bought mine from VGI which are located in the UK. They are not cheap but the service is perfect.

Mushi HD is probably their least successful port, if I was in RSG shoes I'd jump straight to SDOJ.

Is it really ?? I love this game, even if it's really HARD, but are you sur it sold less than DDPDFK BL, DSIIX, DDPDOJ or MMP/PS? (I have no idea, really)


meppi>well, you can always get your dlc on any none modded system then transfer/copy it to your modded system.(or find those..."elsewhere") (but you'll always miss the replay/leaderboards, kinda is a deal breaker, at least for me.)


Jucksalbe>yeah, eursope still misses that... It's the only one I still didn't get either, I wonder if I could get the american version on xbl for my japanese system (I live in france) then again, I'd prefer the boxed version, and it's prolly going for pretty cheap right now.

Yeah I think it did pretty bad, but I thought Akai Katana did too, I figured it was just the state of the 360 in general over there. If that was the case I wouldn't be too surprised if SDOJ bombs too, which is why I was surprised about this announcement.

It sounds like they have part of the game running but I doubt they have all the planned content finished.

There's also the matter of this being a very new game that still fetches ~$2,000 secondhand. Suggesting that this game should go to XBLA makes it sound like it's somehow not worthy of being a full retail product. No company of this size would devalue their own flagship product that much, especially when given recent news it's likely their very future is riding on this.

Major respect +1 for Microsoft encouraging Cave to do the port. It's encouraging to see them engage a niche company that could definitely use an ally.

Finally got around to playing Akai Katana. I was having trouble last year with the japanese menus so the english menus are quite nice. Loving it so far, other than the music. Pretty complex. Playing Slash mode.

Also, hooked up the Ibara to a TV I saved from the trash in summer 2011. PCB was in storage for 15 months so I'm happy it works and all...concerned about the cold winter it went through. Image looks pretty good. Nice and big but I'm using the composite on the Sigma which makes it a bit blurry. Got the RGB and upscaler for the HDTV but a real pain rotate currently.

finally was able to add espgaluda and the ps2 version of DDPDOJ to my collection :)

now all I need is a supergun and the progear + esp ra.de. pcbs and I feel like my collection would be somewhat complete. That top right open spot is for DDP SDOJ :)

and then I have to work on 1CCing the titles other than the 6 that I already have :|

Speaking of which, anyone know how much the DDP PCB goes for these days? I actually got Dangun with my cab way back and Esp.ra.de a bit later, but never picked up DDP for whatever reason...now I'm kind of wondering why the hell I got DOJ back then (not that I hate it, but I prefer DDP).

Nah, it is just through old-school RCA. unless the CRT runs at a higher res than the board and upscales. Not sure how that works. Looks good enough. But it is a crap generic euro TV.

I put a few hours into Ibara. It takes hard to a whole new level. Finally just put it on easy and began to get to level four on a regular basis.
