The members of Sabaton have split up, but the band goes on. Remaining members are Pär Sundström (bass) and Joakim Brodén (vocals) and they won't cancel any shows. New album should be out in May.

To end all rumors that Sabaton will stop touring, or even act/perform as a band, we can now present that Sabaton’s new lineup will be as follows:

Joakim Brodén – Vocals
Pär Sundström – Bass
Chris Rörland – Guitars
Thobbe Englund – Guitars
Robban Bäck – Drums

At the moment we are still searching for a keyboard player. Until we have found the right guy we will still have Daniel Myhr with us, in digital form, since he has specially recorded all keyboards for us to use on tour.

Therefore, we are not cancelling any shows at all – the war machine of Sabaton will go on just as planned!

The MKII of Sabaton is ready for the next chapter…

To meet the new members for the first time, please have a look at this video:

Well that sucks. PRIMO VICTORIA is still one of my go-to albums when I want to really get into a fist-pumping mood. Hopefully the reconfigured version of Sabaton will be just as good.

Too bad for Sabaton, but i am sure that they will kick back, Joakim is still there :)

Always liked Luca's guitar playing but there are a whole lot of egos in play with that band in my opinion anyway. After seeing the trailer for his guitar dvd a while back... *shudders*

And yet I think is so stupid what Luca did, calling his 'new band' Rhapsody.... I mean, for feck's sake :s

Our debut album is officially out on Bandcamp. Some Saudi Arabian grindcore for you guys! This was a very long creative process that took years to accomplish. I hope you guys enjoy it.

I would go for at least the first four albums, but there's something great on most of them. A lot of people dislike Fighting The World, but hey, it has Black Wind, Fire and Steel and Violence and Bloodshed. It's probably the weakest album though.

Kings of Metal, The Triumph of Steel and Louder than Hell all have classic songs on them so I wouldn't overlook those either.

While we are talking about Satan, this is the secret best Manowar song :D

Thanks dude.

Forgot to mention that this album was co-produced by ex-Dying Fetus, ex-Misery Index, and current DAATH drummer Kevin Talley. He also recorded two tracks for us. Not that our drummer isn't capable of course, it's just a collaboration.

Death/Doom you say?

Check out Saturnus.

Although they're more melodic death/doom. Still, such an outstanding band.

Hey Metal gaf, I'm Looking for "Beauty and the beast" types of bands. Where, Male - growl and girl - clean vocals etc.

Any suggestions?

Already Known:
Deadlock

Eluveitie: Slania's Sound

Anyone check out the 2nd Imaginary Flying Machines album: Princess Ghibli II? It's pretty sick.

For those of you who don't know, it's a jap metal, but it's produced and made by Disarmonia Mundi's Ettore Rigotti. It's totally awesome. Melodic Death Metal approach to soundtracks of popular anime films.

Playlist of the 2nd album:

First album: (I think it's better, but 2nd one has some interesting diversity to it.)

Grindcore - 85 Minutes of Brutal Heavy Metal (2003)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4mNmw2Azeo

A sort of documentary of grindcore.

01. Napalm Death - If The Truth Be Known/Suffer The Children
02. Morbid Angel - Immortal Rites
03. Nocturnus - Lake of Fire
04. Paradise Lost - Dead Emotion
05. Prophecy of Doom - Rage Against Time
06. Godflesh - Christ Bait Rising
07. Cerebral Fix - Unity For Who/Enter The Turmoil
08. Sonic Violence - Manic
09. Bolt Thrower - Cenotaph
10. Vengeance Rising - Before The Time
11. Entombed - Left Hand Path
12. Carcass - Reek of Putrefaction

The list of bands included is somewhat odd, considering it's a grindcore documentary.

My Omega order came today. My free t-shirt was Early Man. Kinda ugly, but not the worst thing in the world.
Ha, I'm crossing my fingers for one of those Bloodbath shirts. They look pretty terrible, but it seems most metal shirts do nowadays.

Either way, that Omega sale ruled, I'm psyched to get my truckload of CDs.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

I got a Sculptured shirt. Not a fan of the band, but whatever, it was free. If anyone actually likes them and wants the shirt, I could possibly send it to you... let me know.

On a related note I finally listened to the Peste Noire record from last year. It is all over the place! Clean production. Ministry riffs(!!!) and drum machines. I don't know what to make of it, but I like how disarming it is. When you're expected to make insanely under-produced abrasive black metal that is certainly one way to surprise people.

Listen for yourself:

Sweet. I just got my mastodon/opeth tickets for the 11th next month.

I'm going to this same concert. I love all three bands, but I'm honestly most excited to see Ghost. lol

I just love how they describe themselves...

Ghost is the name of a devil worshipping ministry, that in order to spread its unholy gospels and, furthermore, trick mankind into believing the end is ultimately a good thing, have decided to use the ever so popular rock music medium as a way to achieve their ends.

Standing motionless and anonymous beneath the painted faces, hoods and robes which their sect demand, the six nameless ghouls of Ghost deliver litanies of sexually pulsating heavy rock music and romantic lyrics, which glorify and glamorise the disgusting and sacrilegious, with the simple intention to communicate a message of pure evil via the most effective device they can find: Entertainment. This is Black Metal at it’s most original and deceiving; compositions such as “Ritual” and “Death Knell” majestically weave their melodic spell of evil through the senses until the listener finds themselves utterly possessed and open to any diabolical suggestion.

In May 2010 Ghost were contracted to a UK based gramophone company called Rise Above Ltd, who swore an oath stating that they will assist the group in the task of spreading their musical blasphemies through formats such as Compact Discs, Long Playing Vinyl Records and Digital Downloading.

The first full-length Ghost album ‘Opus Eponymous’, a daringly beautiful combination of satanic rock music with an almost unthinkable pop sensibility, is to be released on 18th October 2010. It is understood and agreed that Rise Above Ltd will invest heavily in areas such as magazine advertising and retail marketing and employ the services of music publicity specialists in order to expose the music of Ghost to the wider public. Specific attention will be paid to targeting people (research suggests these are most likely to be adolescents) who have a void in their life, perhaps caused by some form of emotional trauma or upset, that can be filled by the music and philosophies of Ghost. In time, these easily manipulated children will come to share the views and goals of the Ghost ministry and can prepare their own plans for the downfall of humanity....

Heh, I listened to it a few times back when it came out. It's kind of terrible honestly, but it's amusing to listen to; whatever that means.

Still Like La Sanie des Siécles: Panégyrique de la Dégénérescence the best.:p

I still haven't decided how I feel about it. There are parts that make me cringe for sure, but other times I'm like, dammit I think I am digging this.

So Metal-GAF, what are albums to get excited about for 2012? My most hyped release of the year, the new High on Fire, turned out to be a disappointment to me (I'll try to elaborate on this in a future post if I get the time). I know Ghost is supposed to be releasing their sophomore album this year which I'm sure will be killer, but what else is there?

Personally, Behexen's next album.

For me it's the new album from The Monolith Deathcult, Tetragrammaton. I loved their 2008 album Triumvirate, great mix of death metal and symphonic/electronic elements. I hope Tetragrammatron will be a worthy successor, or at least gives us some kickass songs like Triumvirate:

I'm not sure if it gets released this year though. Next on my list would be Gojira's, should be out in June I think.

Quick list of what I'm interested in

May:
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandora's Piñata

June:
Gojira - L'enfant sauvage

September:
Blut aus Nord - 777 - Cosmosophy

TBA
Absu - Apsu
Cathedral - The Last Spire
Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind
Darkspace - Dark Space IV
Gojira - Sea Shepherd EP [EP]
The Monolith Deathcult - Tetragrammaton
Negură Bunget - Tău
Pagan Altar - Never Quite Dead
Shining - VIII

Humm, for me:

Overkill - The Electric Age (Already out!)
Confessor - Uncontrolled (Remastered collection of their demos prior to signing with Earache)
Sanctuary - New Album maybe?
Candlemass - Psalms for the Dead (Out in June)

I'm sure there's more, that's all I've got for now though...

here are bands that are releasing new shit this year:

Cattle Decapitation, Kreator, Marduk, Watain, Ihsahn, Cathedral, Behemoth, Deeds of Flesh, Electric Wizard, Godflesh, and Nile.

I'm really looking forward to Pagan Altar's new album. And even more so than that, I'm anxiously awaiting Sacriphyx's first full length album. Their EP's and Splits were damn good.

Oh, interesting! So Vermis doesn't push the same buttons as it does with me, eh? : ) I really think it's in their top 3, easily. Like Sleep's Holy Mountain plus Thieves plus Communion with some of the positive aspects of Snakes, which overall still is the only HOF album I don't really like. It just crushes and rocks my world. :D I also like that there's no filler on the album and I think it will be remembered as one of their best. Can't wait for your opinion!

Regarding the next things to look forward to: DOWN and Cathedral are working on their new stuff, I will absorb that shit when it comes out!
