Suggestions for Pig Destroyer-songs would be "Thought Crime Spree", "Restraining Order Blues" and "The Machete Twins". Don't have the Prowler album, so can't speak to suggestions from that one.

And who can live without some Porno Gore Grindcore, XXX Maniak would do nicely.

Loser slave of the system :(
That sounded like an amazing day. I saw them in June, great performance and one of my musical highlights. Got the gas masks couples T-shirt. Did they have a real gas mask couple at Obscene Extreme?
Yes! And it was Čurby (Obscene Extreme's organizer) and his wife. :D

Speaking of Nasum and grindcore, I wore the above t-shirt at my internship. Someone asked about it and I tried to explain what grindcore was (someone else:" Ah, I know what it is. Fucking noise (tering herrie in Dutch)"). He later suggested to bring along a CD to play at work, so he had an idea what kind of music it is. I'm thinking of adding some of my favourite Nasum tracks and some other grindcore bands.
Any suggestions? I'm not to into grindcore. I will add Repulsion and Rotten Sound. Napalm Death too of course, but I have no idea which tracks apart from You Suffer. Same for Pig Destroyer.
Since I'm exceptionally shameless, I'll go ahead and suggest my band, Creative Waste. We play a mix of grindcore and death metal. Do support us since being Saudis, we've been actively sought out by the religious police for our satanic ways for the past decade. Which is why we only play shows outside the region. Aside from that:

Nasum's 'Helvete' is a great grindcore album to get people introduced to the genre without scaring them away. Add some old school Carcass, Terrorizer, Magrudergrind, Wormrot (who we also met at Obscene and played soccer with haha, amazing band and one hell of a live performance), and obviously Napalm Death (Unchallenged Hate, Suffer the Children, Scum, Unchallenged Hate (again), Inner Incineration). Gadget has some great stuff too.

Tell that to the obscure hip hop crowds. Some recent cassette only releases go for a shit ton of money.
Dude, some of our fans simply REFUSE to deal with our bandcamp page. They pay money for the digital version and put their address requesting a CD/cassette copy. It's amazing how into the culture they are.

According to their Facebook, Ne Obliviscaris signed to Season of Mist, and are planning to record a 2nd album late 2013. I'm pretty hyped, as their first album was a great debut.

Why not? My last.fm account collapsed a while ago and I can't get in but I made a new one. It's still in its very early stages but as a whole it shouldn't change too much. It's a good reflection of my taste right now. Zappa and King Crimson are missing, though.

"It is with great joy that I announce the return of GORGUTS to Season of Mist!" says GORGUTS guitarist/vocalist Luc Lemay.

"Things have not always been easy these last couple of years, but now it's all behind us and all I can say is that I'm more than eager to share this new record with all of you.

"Our forthcoming album will be a very detailed, dark, epic, emotional, conceptual record and Season Of Mist was my first choice to be the standard-bearer for this new GORGUTS opus and I must say that I am more than happy to work with them again.

"Stay tuned on the band's web sites for more updates and we'll soon hit the stage to share this new music with you! I can never thank each of you enough, our dedicated fans, for more than 20 years of support! Thanks to you!!"

wonder if that montage of gorguts riffs a couple years back represents the final product at all. i don't know what to expect, and i won't keep my hopes up, but it's nice to have some kind of conformation for release.

Am I the only one around here that doesn't use last.fm?

Should I start? What are the benefits? I'm too baked to research.

it's cool to rummage through someone else's last.fm that has high/super compat with you and see if there's anything they have that you might like. it also has recommendations for you but i haven't really been too successul with that. there used to be a radio feature but i think you might have to pay for that now idk.

it's okay, but nothing about it stands out to me like subterranean effulgence. but it's just one song. we'll see how the rest goes.

It's a nice way to track your habits and classify your musical taste if you care about that. I think it can also be used to find new music based on what you listen to as well.

Anyway, late to the bandwagon:

Last.fm is about to wall off or shut down what little streaming stuff they offer -- too expensive for the licensing deals. I suspect that the service won't be long for the world after that.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I always used the site for statistics.

Well this is exciting. Sometimes i fear we really are too well behaved.

I think it's refreshing, personally.

It's hilarious that this thread is a safe haven on GAF from the constant barrage of hearing just how shitty all of your opinions are. Definitely not the norm for metal forums, but fuck I'll take it.

Plus one friend. MetalGaf is one of my last remaining sanctuaries. I dont mind the sudden invasion. i do fear some of our fairer folk do not comprehend 'metal' to its fullest extent...

Same here. I don't stream anything or anything like that. I just really love knowing what I'm listening to and how much. It's also kind of cool seeing if my end of the year lists even remotely match up to how much I've played the albums or not (I don't take that into account when making the list).

I really don't even use it much for recommendations, but it's absolutely essential to me that I scrobble nearly everything I listen to. I'm pretty obsessed. If I listen to a vinyl or something I'll having it streaming on my phone for the scrobbles, for instance.

I think most metal tattoos are ridiculous. This one is just ridiculous because its the full alternate album cover to Autopsy - Severed Survival!

Wintersun - Time II got delayed until 2014. Considering I liked the first this bums me out, but in the announcement Jari promised more guitar heroics - might draw fans of his older material back in.

Anyway, I've been listening to the new Botanist. I think it would be way more awesome without the godawful clicky snare drum, but it's still worth a listen. Weird, atmospheric black metal in the vein of Blut aus Nord. Botanist - IV: Mandragora

I can't stand Botanist and this is coming from someone who listens to a lot of "experimental" (read: hipster) black metal. The hammer dulcimer sounds like complete shit to me.

I think I look past the terrible production (I literally almost stopped Spotify and pulled up something else when it first popped up) because of the vibe - it's both avant-garde like DSO or Blut aus Nord and atmospheric like Agalloch or Alcest, which is a neat mix. I'm sure other bands do that (Bosse de Nage is in their last.fm similar bands, which reminded me I never checked out their album from last year) because both sounds are pretty "in" right now, but I dug Botanist's take on it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm assuming you'll be going to the Chicago show? I'll see you there, brother

I was utterly convinced that poster was a shop when my friend first showed it to me. Bolt Thrower... FRIGGIN BOLT THROWER? Actually doing a mini-tour in the US? I wasn't able to get a Thursday ticket to MDF so I was all mopey at missing the chance to see the best death metal band to ever grace the planet, but fortune has doth smiled upon us this day.

I cannot wait
