For the classic black metal fans here, Hells Headbangers has 3 Vlad Tepes LP's on vinyl in stock. Picked up the Vlad Tepes / Belketre split LP March to the Black Holocaust.

http://shop-hellsheadbangers.com/item.asp?PID=28310

I don't actually think these are all that rare though. The Mutiilation reissues this label put out are readily available. Still a cool thing to have. I love me some LLN black metal.

I was listening some songs with my friend (King Diamond and some old school hiphop) and Youtube randomly recommended me this.

Goddamn what an amazing song. I don't know if it's the beer talking or is just every fucking riff in this song fucking out of this world.

Edit: Lol apparently this is pretty well known stuff. I just never heard it.

^^^ The guitarist for Annihilator, Jeff Waters, is one of the most talented guitarists ever in a mediocre band :(

I actually like the first 2 Annihilator albums.

Speaking of King Diamond and hip hop.

The Roots - Abigail

Alice in Hell and Never, Neverland are fucking great. But completely agreed on his guitar playing completely outclassing everything else about that band.

And that vid of the roots playing Abigail NEVER gets old.

fuck, i think i might have one too many projects, haha.

this one is going well, missing hit-hats and cymbals, they're coming. thinking about adding voice too, eventually. might be my most ambitious project so far, let's see how things go.

i leave you guys with demos so far:

Remember these guys opening for Converge. Awesome stuff! Also saw the vocalist in the pit later.

Also, here is a review of Kvelertak's new album "Meir".

So much fun seeing these guys become so popular. In the city I lived in, they have a huge contest for unsigned artists, and Kvelertak was part of this. They didn't win the contest, and I even missed the concert because of wrong information on the posters. However, got to see them some weeks later, and managed to catch as many concerts since. Over a time of less then a year, they played in my city I think 3-4 times, each time for a bigger stage.

Now they are headlining Norway's largest festival Øyafestivalen.

Getting back into METAL in a major way was my New Year's Resolution, and its going quite well. Spent all of January listening to Amon Amarth and most of this month reliving the Children of Bodom catalog. Hatecrew Deathroll and Follow the Reaper are my faves, and I'm an apologist for Are You Dead Yet?, 2 or 3 real good track on that one (sorry).

Next up I have the entire Iced Earth and Opeth discographies to go through. Getting back into bands like this is so awesome. been stuck in a musical rut for years, listening to the same few records and bands.

This was the first thing that crossed my mind after the recent events in Russia, lol:

http://youtu.be/kmSX4KivIys

I know Metallica is not well regarded around these parts, but this video is by far my favorite from them. Brilliant even if you don't like the band and the song is in my opinion, their best "metal" track since the 90's.

such a cool video. Good song, too. I liked a few of the songs on Death Magnetic

My old band's The Crescent's new album is available for streaming in its entirety:
http://www.imperiumi.net/index.php?act=page&id=53

Listened to it all the way through twice. By the end of the second time I was getting annoyed haha. The Enochian Crescent sound is still there of course, but they are adding more to it and (to me) starting to wander into Symphonic Black Metal territory. Which is a genre I'm not a fan of at all. Too much singing with backing vocals like those folk metal bands (not sure how to describe it but that's what it reminds me of). Which is something I don't particularly care for *shrug* I can see why you decided to move on...

The only song I like OK is Lilitu (that guitar riff could have been on Telocvovim) and the song Risti has a similar feel to what Throes of Dawn has been doing on their last 2 albums which isn't a bad thing.

It's definitely an odd experience for me to listen to the new material. I like some of the stuff, and some not so much. Before I left, my favorite song was Maankiertäjä (translated: Wanderer), and it still stands out for me.

Any fellow UK metal heads have any nostalgic feelings for this appearance on mainstream BBC programming? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsytdmYtcf8

Was funny to hear the story of Jeff Walker approaching Craig Charles years after his Red Dwarf appearance only for "Lister" to deny any knowledge of past encounters on the bonus stuff from the Carcass reissues.

ahaha, I was literally JUST watching this like 10 minutes ago... good lord Mick Harris' mustache. This was probably my favorite Napalm lineup, so shortlived! :(

I've got the Elvira interview on VHS as well. So good. Best Napalm Death line-up for sure.

Just saw Orange Goblin in London, their last UK show before they head out on a big tour of Australia and North America - definitely take the chance to see them if they're anywhere near you, Orange Goblin put on a fantastic show and their latest album is one of their strongest. Had a great time tonight, and the set-list was awesome.

Also, I enjoyed the hell out of one of the support bands, Earls of Mars, although I'm not entirely sure why. Very weird band;

I missed them the last time they were here and I already know I'm going to miss the next time they're coming here too dammit. And by 'here' I mean the same country but waaaay too far from my town. I'd love to see them live, have wanted to for over a decade now but I can't catch a break :/ I should move somewhere more civilized.

Belgium actually. Yep it's really loud, but that's expected. You can't really hear Pike that well though.
In metal I totally prefer club gigs because of the volume. I like getting my ears blasted in a good way...I saw sleep last year and couldn't really hear Al either. Didn't matter, though.

Going to see Grave, Stench of Decay, Maveth and Cryptborn tonight. I haven't really listened to Grave since their early demo and debut album days. I wonder how they sound nowadays.

I haven't heard it but I know Grave's new album had a lot of positive buzz around it when it came out.

I recently listened to all of the big four albums I own, thought I'd share my thoughts quickly:

Metallica
Kill 'Em All - God-tier
Ride The Lightning - God-tier
Master of Puppets - God-tier
...And Justice For All - God-tier, and my personal favorite!
Black Album - Pretty good
Load - I'm fond of The House That Jack Built, rest of the album is pretty meh for the most part
Reload - Unbelievably boring. Sleeping pill in the form of music.
St. Anger - Oh god. 90% horrible. I like a few riffs, but then IT'S MY WORLD YOU CAAAAAN'T HAVE IT!!!!
Death Magnetic - Decent. Suicide & Redemption rules.
Garage Inc. - Some great covers and B-sides, The Wait is my jam
Beyond Magnetic - Not bad, I love the riff in Just A Bullet Away

Megadeth
Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good - Awesome
Peace Sells - God-tier
So Far, So Good... So What! - Great
Rust In Peace - HOOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
Countdown To Extinction - Great
Youthanasia - Awesome
Cryptic Writings - Pretty good
Risk - Ergh, rather poopy.
Endgame - Awesome

Slayer
Show No Mercy - Satan-tier
Hell Awaits - Satan-tier
Reign In Blood - Satan-tier
South of Heaven - Satan-tier
Seasons In The Abyss - Satan-tier, my favorite by far
Divine Intervention - Awesome, a bit overlooked imo
Diabolus in Musica - I don't dislike it as much as most do, but it's pretty forgettable after the first 3 songs.
God Hates Us All - Same as above, funnily enough. I like the first 3 songs(excluding the intro), everything else is boring.
World Painted Blood - I really, really like the title track. I remember when I was on vacation and had nothing to do, shortly after the album came out, I debated whether or not to pick it up. Listened to the title track on Youtube. Listened 20 more times that same day and bought the album ASAP. I love WPB and Snuff, rest of the album ranges from okay to IT'S ALL ABOUT DA MOTHER FUCKIN' OIL
Haunting The Chapel - Satan-tier

Anthrax

Spreading The Disease - God-tier
Among The Living - God-tier +1
State Of Euphoria - Great, I like it more than most
Persistence of Time - God-tier
Worship Music - Great
Attack Of The Killer B's - Awesome

Still missing a few albums, but it was fun re-listening.

Edit: Oh, and does anyone have any recommendations for something similar to this riff(3:00 if the link doesn't work correctly)?

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
So last night I watched two Rammstein LIVE DVD's.

Dammit, I really need to see these guys live. Looks pretty insane.

I saw them live in 2001. Really small venue (Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH), Godhead and Crossbreed opened for them. It was amazing. I'm actually shocked that they were allowed to use their pyros in such a small venue. It really was amazing, though.

That one isn't too bad, just doesn't really do much for me. I think the worst offender is 'Kahdeksas kuoro', that song was making me angry on the second listen heh.

Anyway! Thrash attack, a mix of new and old:

Pasadena Napalm Division [Kurt Brecht of D.R.I. sings]
100 Beers With A Zombie

Lost Society [Young band out of Finland]
Kill (Those Who Oppose Me)

Forced Entry
Anaconda

Solitude
Shroud of Silence

Nuclear Assault
New Song

Hatriot [Silly band name, awful album artwork but still solid Thrash from Zetro]
The Mechanics of Annihilation

Bludvera
Terrorform

Raped Ape [Band that later became Paingod]
The Krusher

One of the best Melodic Metal albums I have ever heard, period. I just wish they had a different vocalist.

Omnium Gatherum band + Mercenary Vocalist would be the best metal band EVER.

Yeah, they've never really had a great vocalist, I almost preferred the old one to be honest. Anyway, just love their sound, especially the guitars.
