Yeah I got a bit mad, sry.You can, but you should make your points clear. I don't think anyone got your message (if you had one) You say Mr Sandman got your point, but reading his post I still dont know what your point was.
What I got:
- Metal should unify and should focus less/not at all on subgenres (Okay?)
- Unification and less/no focus on subgenres will make metal MUCH bigger in music (Almost everyone responded to this part, claiming this is incorrect (and unnecessary). I agree)
- Fuck subgenres. Or not. "Most metal-heads are elitists and focus only on the sub-genre they enjoy" (What's your point?)
- If we don't focus on subgenres, bands could help each other (This doesn't make sense to me. And the examples you gave are of bands in the same subgenre helping each other)
And getting irritated doesn't help either
But you got most of the point. I think this post really help to understand a bit further:
You really don't understand why someone would find it desirable to have something they enjoy be successful, accepted and non stigmatized?
Personally I would enjoy the bands I like to listen to to find success. To have a chance of hearing them in public/when I'm forced to listen to radio. I would like for them to continue making music, which probably works better when you have a degree of financial security. And altruistic speaking I would like for more people to enjoy what I consider good music. Things that are hidden, for whatever reason are unlikely to be found by people that are not already deeply invested.
Wanting a band to be successful is in no way the same as wanting a band to remain so deep in the underground not even their fans know where to find them.
