LOL Slayer. No Jeff, No Lombardo. At least I'm glad dave move on with his new band and king can suck a dick.

Yeah, they are playing here in the Netherlands in a few days and a friend of mine wants to go but I seriously could not care less about seeing them without hanneman and lombardo, specially for 54 euros.

They're going to be back to playing smaller venues with only 2/4 of the lineup eventually. That's my opinion anyway.

I listened to it today. It's probably their weakest album since Risk. It's worth checking out to see if you like it...it has some good guitar on it as usual but, it's not really all that great. FYI, I'm a fan of all of their stuff except Risk.

I think the word that describes it best is forgettable.

If it's not any worse than Risk, I might give it a shot.

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.
The new Gorguts album has a title and release date:

Colored Sands, 9/3 on Season of Mist

Red Seas Fire - "Exposition EP"

http://www.redseasfire.co.uk

Pretty good little EP. And it's free! Great build up on "Turner & Hooch" and the male/female duet on "Of Motion" is gorgeous.

Is the new Megadeth that bad?

I mean I'm a huge fan of Youthanasia and Cryptic Writtings not just Peace Sealls and Rust.

If I liked those albums would I like this? It doesn't have to be thrash/speed metal.

I have all their albums except Risk.

No, if you like those albums you won't like this.

If you like any album at all you probably wont like this.

If you have ears you probably wont like this.

There are a few cool songs and there are some nice catchy riffs in most of the songs, but the songwriting is really awful and overall just a very underwhelming and forgettable experience.

Man, I'm afraid to listen now. I felt he was on a roll.

What can you compare it too?

The sound of a garbage truck rolling down the street collecting garbage.

jk :p

Its hard to compare it to something...I guess image if Risk had much worse song writing, and vocal work that sounds really blown-out and tired.

I mean it still has some catchy and fun riffs. The vocals and songwriting are just really, really bad for 90% of the album. It sometimes feels like one of the Youtube vids that are titled "New *populare band name* 2014 Preview Song" and its really some random band trying to sound like the popular band but they are no where near the caliber of the popular band. In this case its like Mustaine is trying to create a Megadeth cover band and decided that the shitty song writing is something that should be emphasized.

I'd just go ahead and give it a listen for free on Spotify or something. Just don't have your expectations too high.

I just listened to that metal/bluegrass fusion Megadeth song......lol. Dave, you're a day late and a dollar short on that trend. Metal & punk fused with bluegrass and roots music has been happening for years, and just adding a banjo to your song doesn't cut it.

Just listened to the new Black Dahlia Murder album, I personally think it's their weakest album since Ryan Knight joined the band, especially the drums since Shannon was fucking awesome.

Power Trip's Manifest Decimation has been getting great reviews all over the place:

Manifest Decimation, out June 11th on Southern Lord, is a caustic mixture of crossover thrash, hardcore, and just a smidgen of death metal. The album sounds like Cro-Mags, Slayer, and Possessed got snatched up in a tornado and the whole thing went on a cross country rampage. Maybe that's a tad hyperbolic, but only just a tad. With Manifest Destination, Power Trip have successfully delivered a fresh take on crossover thrash. That's no small feat considering the genre has been stagnating for years.

Can't wait to get my CD and LP next week.

Oh fuck it.....I downloaded it anyway. This may be the best album they have ever done.

The album is really good! But personally, Nocturnal will always be my favorite.

Hmm interesting opinion on the album. I can agree with you that Ryan Knight is a little weak in this album but I think the drums are still great. Sure he is no Shannon but Alan can hold his ground quite well.

I think Goat of Departure will be one of my new favorite songs to mosh in the pit to. Its right up there with Malenchanments of the Necrosphere. I will be going to Warped Tour just to see them haha

I still got to get the new CoB and Bursum albums a listen. Anyone have an opinion of those?

As a longtime Megadeth fan (they are my first ever favorite band, since Youth), I can sadly confirm that Super Collider is an utter and complete piece of shit.

:(

The new Summoning album is cool. Its a bit of a deviation from their last few albums, but it hits all the right notes for me.

Now its time to wait for the new Amon Amarth, i need me some new gym music.

I need some good stuff from the past 6-12 months. Help me, Metal-Age.

Saw Mastodon yesterday. They played well but I was trapped in a rather lame spot in the audience. The people around me were mostly sceptical nonf-fans, obviously. Still a nice gig. I shook hands with Brann Dailor afterwards and I catched a plectrum with my throat during the concert, haha!

Also Kylesa's new album "Ultravolet" is spacy and really good!
