I'm excited about the new Sepultura album. The last few have been pretty good. Their new drummer is very good and I think he will bring a lot to this album.
This is what being in one of the most popular metal bands in the world gets you:

It's great but yeah it's pretty proggy.
I love the massive, dirty sound on that album. Perfectly suited for doom and sludge.
French-Canadian death metallers Gorguts have released a second song available for streaming, entitled 'An Ocean Of Wisdom'. The song is taken off of their new album Colored Sands, which is slated be released September 3rd.

bring earplugs
i saw Rainbow in '95 in Palto Alto, CA and made the mistake of not wearing earplugs(was 13 at the time, first concert). Was in front row and messed up ears big time. Worn them ever since.
Picked up Unanimated - Ancient God of Evil recently. Amazing melodic black/death. Tons of great riffs and solos on this thing. I'm really surprised you don't hear more people talk about them.
According to MetalInsider.net, Atheist drummer and drumming icon Steve Flynn was recently involved in a car accident.
Flynn's life is not at risk, yet he suffers from injuries at his jaw, neck and wrists. Currently, he is resting at his home in Atlanta.

I got the re-issue a while back, pretty underrated album. Just kinda flew under the radar when it came out because at the time Dissection, Sacramentum, and Dawn overshadowed Unanimated.
I don't think that's coming quite so soon (but I would LOVE to be wrong).so bloody pumped for new haveanicelife this week \m/
