Yep. Vocals sound too high in the mix to my liking, though. Or maybe nu-Araya's voice is just kind of grating, lol.
Human without a doubt with Leprosy and Individual Thought Patterns rounding out my top three. Sound of Perseverance will always be last, which isn't saying much because it's still great, I just don't like Chuck's higher vocal range nearly as much as his lower range and the extended progressive song writing feels a bit forced.
I assume that most of us love, or at least respect, Death. So what's everybody's favorite album by them? I'm going with the usual, which would be Symbolic.
Last time I'm plugging this I swear, but Slayer's starting in about 15 min. Let's see if they're solid or just old geezers trying too hard, haha:

Last I checked, seeing Slayer live was more about being blown away by the loudest show you've ever seen over anything else.
my bloody valentine was the loudest gig ive ever been to, beat slayer by quite a bit
I've heard this from a few people. Still hoping they'll play in Boston at some point, somehow. I should've gone to NYC a few years back.my bloody valentine was the loudest gig ive ever been to, beat slayer by quite a bit
Scream Bloody Gore -> Human - > Leprosy - > Individual Thought Patterns - > Spiritual Healing -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> Sound of Perseverance
Oh my god, thank you!

Wait, so do you love or hate SoP?

I finally got around to listening to the new Carcass album. Its pretty competent, but I don't think it matches Necrotism. Musically it's quite good, but there's something about the production that I don't like. It's too clean.
1. Human
2. Leprosy
3. Symbolic
4. Spiritual Healing
5. Individual Thought Patterns
6. Scream Bloody Gore
I fucking hate the Sound of Perseverance. Such a shitty album. Human is my favorite by far with Leprosy a strong second. 3-5 are pretty fluid.

I don't agree at all. Sound of Perseverance is pretty damn good for a prog metal album (I normally don't even like prog), and I do like that Painkiller cover. You have to see it as Control Denied with harsh vocals rather than Death.
And that's why it sucks

This is why I like it. Different strokes for different folks and all, but I'm baffled at the appeal of a metal album that sounds like a complete mess. On topic, this includes those early Death albums.
Pffft, Control Denied is awesome. Just about the only prog/power I can stomach, ironically enough. Tim Aymar <3
Any body else ever listened to Ahab? I just discovered The Call of the Wretched Sea today. It's already shot up on my favorite metal albums
Love them, I never thought I would say that about funeral doom band either, it's one of those genres I never thought I would get into.
I suspected as such from your name, heh.
Any other Doom metal bands? The only ones I am familiar with are Electric Wizard and Sleep.
Conan
Anyone listen to the new Exhumed? I thought it was solid, but I enjoyed the balls to the wall speed of All Guts, No Glory more.
