The Metal Thread

Anyone listen to Ajattara? Apare was the last album I listened to from them but apparently a lot of people (when I first listened to them, probably back in 2008) didn't like their stuff. I found a few songs I like but some of the stuff from Apare and Itse was a bit too generic.

I remember it being boring, watered down melodic black metal. Yuck.

Anyone seen Ghost live? How are they?

Got tickets to a show of theirs next week.

I've seen them in 2011. Really enjoyed it, the whole show it very nice and I found the music to be a lot more impactful live.

Hellfest 2014 lineup:

Very nice lineup, didn't know Emperor is back to touring. And it's on a mainstage, a band I actually care about? That's a first :O

Why have I not heard of Windhand before?

Windhand - Orchard

Because you haven't been reading this thread? They were mentioned a couple of times the last few pages.

I hope to make the Syracuse show. This should be fun.

Century Media is planning on re-releasing the entire Dawn catalogue next year.
Century Media Records proudly announce the license of the entire discography by Swedish act DAWN who apart from bands like Dissection, Unanimated or Eucharist belongs to the most legendary, strongest and most underrated acts merging death and black metal during the mid 90's.

Formed back in 1990, DAWN quickly developed from pure death metal on the first early 90's demos into a more complex, melodic, epic and atmospheric style culminating in the fantastic masterpiece "Slaughtersun - Crown Of The Triarchy" (1998).

In the first half of 2014 everything the band has ever recorded will be made available again, carefully remastered by Dan Swanö and accompanied by reworked artworks and more - done in full cooperation with the band.

After their original release the DAWN titles were only available as a compilation on Necropolis Records in 2004 - which is being sold for horrendous prices nowadays - and never before on vinyl (!), thus it is about time these fantastic recordings get officially reissued in proper formats and at reasonable prices.

The planned DAWN releases are:

• Demos 1991 - 1993 (title tba) CD/LP
• "Nær Sólen Gar Niþer For Evogher" (originally released in 1994) CD/LP
• "Sorgh På Svarte Vingar Fløgh" (originally released in 1996) MCD/MLP
• "Slaughtersun - Crown Of The Triarchy" (originally released in 1998) CD/2LP

So, look forward to the definite editions of these immortal classics of Swedish blackened metal of death!

The Slaughtersun shall shine anew and the curse of DAWN continues!

Dan Swanö tends to be a bit hit or miss with his remasters and the new artwork will surely be shit but it's great that Dawn's material will finally be available for sane prices.

Guys, I for the life of me can't remember a band's name(or songs, or albums).

All I can remember is one of their earlier albums(first, I think) had some dude with a sword. Maybe he was a samurai? It looks like he was standing near the entrance of a dungeon.

What's the album and band I can't seem to think of??

that's a good show for sure. if i hadn't seen btbam so many times at tremont already i'd probably be in for that. deafheaven are incredible live.

Two of my favorite releases in recent years are nails' abandon all life and xibalba's hasta la muerte. southern california is killing it lately.

Drunk threads are the best.

I've never drank alcohol in my life once, aside from (no hyperbole, this is literal) a few drops of Vodka. I intend to keep it that way.

Of course, I have no problem if people drink alcohol, though. As long as they aren't hurting themselves or others, anyway.
