It doesn't help that the story scenes on Youtube that I was watching were cut improperly near the end. It seemed like Raiden was going to beat the info out of Q. Cheezy though.

By that point in the story, it was all that Raiden could do but a) throw his hands up and b) go to the guy who (at least at that point) is the lesser of two evils. There's quite a bit more that the summary doesn't cover, but Prof. Beef did cover the gist.

Poor Raiden. Just like that, he singlehandedly takes away Reptile's "woobie" status. Because none of the bad endings and unfortunate events that happened to Reptile in the past decade and a half's worth of games can even HOPE to compare to the collective boners Raiden did in this ONE game. XD

I still find it hilarious that Raiden got a message from his future self to fix time, and by the end he fucked it up even more.

But at least is shows a different side of Raiden. many people always see characters like him, as "perfect", and this just shows he's not. Even through the original games and movies, Raiden was always criticized by other "beings" because of getting too involved with the Earth-lings.

If anything, it would make for an interesting Raiden next game (?) as he tries to redeem himself and amend his mistakes. In the flashbacks and through the game, he's shown to really care for Liu Kang, so he dying because of his fault and cursing him too; probably had an effect on him as a "mentor".

He's basically Charles Xavier post-Deadly Genesis with Liu Kang filling the Scott Summer role.

Well, thanks to a majority of the old guard now "dead", it's really going to be something else for the next story arc, seeing how this could be the big chance to shine that some decent characters, like Fujin and Reiko, never got the "first time around".

In fact, it'll be interesting if we see Fujin actually getting a chance to take up that leadership role he never got a chance to settle into, because some one will need to take point with Raiden letting things go to Hell in a hand-basket, and probably being deemed an unfit "guardian of Earthrealm" to boot.

Ermac's Alt is the only one of those I really like. Smoke's ain't bad, but I like his regular one more.

I'm also disappointed that Sub and Noob share an Alt basically. (I can see why, but I still don't approve.)
 
I LOVE THE STORY MODE AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!!!

I really hope they didn't write themselves into a corner at the ending though.

I never bothered to play MK4 so hopefully whatever new characters were introduced will have the opportunity to be fleshed out in any further installments.

But yeah best fighting game story I've ever seen, and for the first time (and I know how corny this is gonna sound) I actually cared about what happened to mortal kombat characters and it was actually tough for me to see some of them die. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT SHIT?

Yeah I admit it, I was really into the story.

Poor Raiden...that mofo could not catch a break.
 
I'm not sure how much of the old crew being dead matters. Given how the series progressed the last time, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Elder Gods realize how badly Raiden screwed up and restore life to some of the deceased in an effort to rebalance the realms.
 
So are alt costumes earned though story, arcade, or challenge tower? Or a mix of all three?

I assume fatalities are all earned through the Krypt? Are any good Krypt unlock locations posted already?

Beat Ladder with a character and unlock the alt. Or purchase it in the Krypt, but you don't know what you're buying till it's bought.

Cool, I like that much more. I hate spending koins and ending up with something lame like concept art. That stuff can wait til after I get all the cool things!

It's a childish story that's objectively bad by just about any standard but I totally get where you're coming from. Can't wait to play through it!

gamefaqs already has a list of where the alts/fatalities are, so you don't have to worry about wasting koins on art and music

What I'm willing to bet? Since they want this one game to last for probably the rest of this generation, I could see "episodic updates" where new characters and storyline content could be updated over time. Scarlet (confirmed name) and Kenshi could definitely be the start of such an operation...
 
Clockpunk: "Just been allowed a very quick go on a friend's review copy. Glad to report that Klassic Skins are all unlockable (by purchasing concept art for that character, which is all random as you don't know what you are buying until it unlocks). I was allowed to choose a grave at random, I picked 7 and got Reptiles Klassic skin.

I haven't seen it definitively reported yet, so there we go! :D

According to clockpunk in the OT can someone try to please confirm this and post the results in the OT? I'd search but I'm in non-official media blackout on this thread to avoid spoilers.
 
So how many kostumes does each character have?

I know male ninjas (female too maybe?) have klassic kostumes, and then Mileena has the Flesh Pit costume. Do all the other characters get 3-4 or only ninjas?

Mileena is the only one who has 4, it seems. Regular kostume, klassic kostume, alternative kostume, and flesh pit.
