The Mortal Kombat Spoilers Thread of ... spoilers in a fighting game?

Mileena removes her mask even in her near-naked, maskless alternate. Human Cyrax and Sektor don't have their chests open, do they?

Also, do they explain why Quan-Chi has the tattoos already? Just yes or no, don't tell me the reason.

No they did an awesome job with human cyrax and sektors animations.

I actually LOVE Shang Tsung's fatality. That's the only fatality I loved in MK vs DC and thought it was a waste of awesomeness especially when censored.

If I had to change one thing, it would be spawning Joker himself. I mean they're owned by WB; I'm sure they can get rights to Joker shooting the brains. It'll nicely work as a hype for Batman: Arkham City.

Actualy if you pause the game in that trianing session it says something along the lines of "Shang Tsung learned a trick or two with enemys in the past"

It's official, you suck. The reward for the challenge tower (from a stream of someone beating the 300th challenge) is:
Mileena's FleshPit costume (bandages). No surprise there.

Wow, all that work for an alt costume. I can say that this is my first disappointment with this game.

Definitely appearing as DLC in the near future
I'm okay with this.

Seriously, this is beyond stupid for provide a akin as reward. I rather get newer arenas and fatalities as a reward for cramming your ass off...

And? Time used to be that we would do a lot of work in a game, all for basically a "Congratulations!" text and the game to reboot to start.

Have we really become so "spoiled" as gamers, that we expect a sizable reward every time we play? Or a trophy/achievement to adorn on gamer profiles? What happened to the "sense of accomplishment"? I mean, c'mon, this damn game is already giving us a lot as it is!

Yeah, the reward may not be seen as something "awesome" for many; but it fits right along with what they said about "it" being cool and when you see people online with "it", you know they beat the 300th challenge.

I think it's because Boon tried to hype up the reward as something special, and people's expectations were of something to match said hype. As it stands, an alternate costume isn't something one should really be hyped about.

I can understand the frustrations, even if I'm not frustrated by it myself.

I agree with what you say here, it is just the costume doesn't really live up to the huge reward that they alluded too while plugging the challenge tower. I think people just got their expectations up, myself included, and an additional T&A (Teeth & Ass) costume is a bit of a let down.

Well, all I can say to that is that Boon's bit of trolling was successful again, just like how the Noob unveil was supposed to be "something that could shut down the internet". :lol

In any case, for me, this is definitely a thing where "I AIN'T EVEN MAD" applies. Especially since, again, they've given us a lot.

If they hadn't said (two times? Three? I remember it in Gamespot and the first Challenge Tower vid) that the reward would be something any MK fan would die to have, nobody would be complaining.

And I think fans using the troll excuse for every stupid thing NRS does is just sad.

Then again, what would anyone expect them to said about the reward "Oh don't worry, it sucks" .. ? "Ah, don't bother with the challenge the unlock is just an alt costume.. ? "Pfft..whatever is no biggie, but it's there!"..?

They also said that it would be cool and other could see it online, back then I just expected a gold colored name/crown next to my name.. XD ..

So it's an alt costume, it's cool and way more than I expected back then.
Of course I would've preferred Johnny Cage or Kano to be the ones wearing "that', but still. :p

Darn you developers!!
Why's that male characters get more armor and more pieces of clothing with time, while females characters get less!! >:O!!!! Might as well turn all male characters into nuns, clerics..or something... :p

I have no problem with the final challenge being an alt costume, but that Mileena alt is not what I would call a cool reward. Hell I would rather just have it be the classic unlocks instead over that, but that's just me.

Well, what else could it be called, after a while? In the end, you can either choose the "UMAD" side and get all salty over something meaningless, or the "IAINTEVENMAD" side and find humor with it.

Neither side gets everything they want 100% of the time, but at least those of us on the more care-free end can laugh at ourselves and at NRS. Especially since most of us have BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE, if you followed Midway/NRS for a good period of time. :lol

I'm not necessarily mad with the reward, but I think that Boon could've toned it down just a tad. :lol
Yeah. :p
But lets face it..some were even expecting not 1..but the 3 original games remade in HD to be that unlockable reward.

1 of them might have been something "possible" ..but all 3 games? I mean, there are expectations and theres just crazy talk.. :p (and no offense to anyone that was expecting the reward to be the HD Kollection :p)

So could somebody give me a semi-detailed runthrough of the story? I don't have time to watch all the cutscenes at the moment.
I'll do my best.

- Raiden and Shao Kahn are the only ones left alive at the end of MK: Armageddon. Raiden has a sort of epiphany, and sends a message to his past self, taking place during MK1, that is only "he must win."

- MK1 happens, with Raiden talking with various people wondering how he can stop the impending Apocalypse, including Human Cyrax.

- After Liu Kang wins MK1, Raiden is still confused as to how Armageddon can still happen, because the future remains unchanged. He can tell this because he still sees visions of the future, and his medallion continues to crack with each passing moment.

- Mortal Kombat 2 begins, thanks to Shang Tsung threatening Earth Realm with attacks. Jax rushes to try and save Sonya, who was captured, and eventually meets up with her and frees her. During their escape attempt, Ermac arrives and violently removes Jax's arms. Sonya is able to stop the bleeding, and they both eventually escape from Outworld.

- Smoke is attacked by Lin-Kuie cyborgs, but Raiden comes to his rescue, and Smoke offers his assistance. They begin searching for Sub-Zero (who went on his own to find his brother's killer), and find him just in time to see him getting captured by cyborgs. Shao Kahn, at this point, is challenged by Liu kang. Raiden interferes however, and insists that Kung Lao challenge him (being prompted to change because of a vision). Kung Lao, before he can challenge Kahn, fights and defeats Shang Tsung, Quan Chi, and Kintaro. While celebrating his victories, Kahn snaps his neck, and Liu challenges and defeats Kahn.

- Raiden, Smoke, Cage (who was instructed to be "like a shadow, and twice as silent (lol)," and Liu celebrate their victory, but also mourn the losses of Kung Lao and Sub-Zero. Meanwhile, in Kahn's throne room, his subordinates are trying to decide who takes Kahn's place. Kahn, with the aid of Quan Chi, humbly suggests that everyone shuts up. They begin to plan an invasion of Earth Realm, and Quan Chi begins preperations to revive Sindel, who is integral to the invasion.

- During the invasion, Striker and Kabal (who is revealed to have left the Black Dragons to become an officer with Striker) are attacked by Kintaro. Kabal is horribly burned during the skirmish, and Striker defeats him, only to be attacked by Ermac before he can attend to Kabal's injuries. After defeating Ermac, Striker meets with Nightwolf, who convinces him to join the Earth Realm Happy Team Squad of Do-Gooders (not implied to be the actual team name).

- Kabal wakes up to find Kano finishing Kabal's operation. He wonders why he hasn't died, and attacks Kano for turning him into "a monster." He threatens Kano after beating him to take him to Shang Tsung, but Quan Chi and Noob Saibot stop him before he can do anything. After beating them, he manages to escape back to Earth, only to find Cyber Sub-Zero waiting for him. Kabal manages to take him down, and with Raiden and Smoke's help, reprogram him to get his mind back.

- Sub-Zero returns to Outworld to act as a double-agent for Earth, but is attacked by Sektor (who was able to tell Sub's programming was altered). After Sektor's defeat, he looks through Sektor's programming to find out where Quan Chi is. His search leads him to freeing a platoon of soldiers from Goro and Kintaro. After the fight, Sub-Zero heads to the graveyard where Noob and Quan Chi are preparing a Soul-Nado. Sub fights Noob, but is too late to actually stop the Soul-Nado from being created. Nightwolf arrives however, and defeats Quan Chi, then throws Noob into the Soul-Nado, destroying it.

- Nightwolf meets with the others to try and come up with a plan of action. Raiden decides to take Liu to the Elder Gods and implore them to help stop the invasion. During their absence, Sindel attacks their HQ with a gang of cyborgs, killing most of the fighters and severely injuring the rest. Nightwolf manages to put up a fight, but isn't nearly strong enough to completely stop Sindel. Before Sindel can kill him, Nightwolf calls the spirits to eliminate the both of them.

- During the entire battle, Raiden and Liu meet with the Elder Gods, who tell them that essentially, they're shit outta luck. They come back to find their hideout messed up, and Kitana dies in Liu's arms. Liu, who is finally fed up with Raiden's shitty leadership, calls him out on it and leaves on his own. Raiden, having no clue what to do, heads to the Neatherrealm to speak with Quan Chi. After fighting the souls of the deceased Earth Warriors, Quan Chi inadvertantly reveals to Raiden that in order to stop the shit from hitting the fan and for the Elder Gods to finally get off their asses, Shao Kahn has to win Mortal Kombat. He rushes back to Earth Realm to tell Liu, who is less then pleased with seeing Raiden, and loses his shit when Raiden tells Liu what they should do and attacks.

- Raiden defeats Liu, but he refuses to let Kahn win. He keeps trying to get back up, and Raiden tries to stop him by zapping him with lightning. Raiden juices him too much however, and kills him as Sony and Cage arrive to help. Raiden begs for forgiveness from Liu, who dies and curses Raiden's name with his last breath. Sonya and Cage team up to try and fight Kahn, who merely extends his arms and KOs the both of them.

- Raiden, while getting knocked around by Kahn, has one final vision, which is a word-for word and action-for-action replay of the beginning intro with Kahn and Raiden after Armageddon. Raiden, before Kahn can kill him, wonders why the Elder Gods have forsaken him, but is then infused with their energy as a last attempt to stop Shao Kahn. Raiden manages to defeat Kahn, who tries to attack again, but is finally killed when the Elder Gods finally decide to step in. Raiden, Sonya and Cage look around, realize that Earth's shit is fucked up (so they've got to shoot/slice etc), and prepare to find survivors and repair everything.

- As they walk away, Quan Chi picks up what's left of Kahn's crown and has a telepathic conversation with Shinnok, who clams that he is almost free and that Earth Realm is gonna get fucked up even further.

That's the end.

Wow super thorough! thanks a lot dude.

i heard online is quite unplayable with the lag as well to...gonna wait till release to see if is cleared up via patch...def not gonna buy it if i can't play online with friends without constant issues. : /

I knew bits and pieces of the old timeline, and watched all of the cutscenes for MK9 today. How did Sindel make them look so free? Was she always that strong? The cyborgs didn't do a damned thing, but she owned all of them in no time...

Armageddon Raiden screwed so much shit up by saying "He must win!" when all he had to do was replace one word and say "Kahn must win!"

LOL PLOT DEVICES!

So how do Shinok and Quan-Chi factor into this? Were they playing Shao Kahn for a fool? I can't remember shit about MK's story past MK3.

It wasn't the same Sindel from MK3. This Sindel had the power of Shang Tsung.

Wasn't that Evil/Dark Raiden getting killed? He didn't give a shit about the earth warriors anymore.

Basically, Q. Cheezy was the one running dem Xanatos Gambits. He effectively was doing a lot to play the two sides against each other, whether it be how he set both Sub-Zero and Scorpion's clans against each other (and getting Shinnok's amulet as a nice bonus, per the Sub-Zero Mythos game), or made it so that Sindel could be resurrected and allow Kahn's passage to Earth.

In any case, many people were killed, Earth dun got FUCKED UP but GOOD, Shao Kahn is out of the way and most of Earth's champions are under Quan Chi's control. Needless to say, Cheezy benefited from all of the bad things that happened in this timeline, much like he did in the previous one. :lol

Seems like it. They mentioned that things went "exactly as planned," but that's Villain Cliche 101 right there.

EDIT: TreIII got dis. :3

She used his power a hell of a lot better than he did. He got his ass kicked throughout the entire story. lol

lol it's so goofy when they refer to each other by name. "Earthrealm is finished, Nightwolf." They should give the characters actual names they can call each other like in comic books.

Hahaha Sp00ky better use that.

HA! I just watched it again, and it's still funny.

It actually reminds me of that one Riki-Oh scene from the teamsp00ky streams.

This thread needs more Kratos !

Fatalities (only saw the first one), story mode cameos and everything we can know =3

Wich reminds me .... nobody got their hands on 360 version to know what is the exclusive stuff ?

Great summary but I don't really get the bit about Raiden going to see Quan Chi. Aren't they supposed to be super arch-enemies? Why would Raiden suddenly believe everything that Quan Chi has to say? Oh yeah his advice is "let Shao Khan win", big freaking surprise. Certainly not believe it to the extent that he gets in such a row with Liu Kang that he FUCKING KILLS HIM. All pretty bizarre, but still pretty cool.

Anyways, whats the word on the Big Unlockable on the game? Is it a remake of the past games? Shaolin Monks HD? This game has a lot of UC and saw the Krypt video and was in awe.
