This game still being a piece of shit reconfirmed.

After my last game with Fifty,I agree with you Boobs.

i agree on the blocking issue. i was just telling wellington they should work on o-line and d-line interaction and make the lineman actually BLOCK and not just get in the way. i want to see o-lineman driving their guy back! and when its o-line vs. CB, i want the CB to be obliterated most of the time.

aside from that i am enjoying this years game. they do need to adjust the qb accuracy, a little TOO accurate for my tastes as it is, but a well called defensive gameplan can ruin that rhythm.

as far as the ball hitting the wr in the back i think i have seen that maybe a couple times in the 25+ games ive played. more often then not the wr actually makes a GREAT play on the ball (sometimes where it just shouldn't happen!)

gg dskillz. You had me sweating after you pulled up within 4. Stupid Suisham misses a FG before the half after a gift INT by Springs and James started to get something going a little in the 3rd with the TD score. Despite the INTs, I thought Leinart was very good for the game.

Some highlights:

First score of the game, Campbell hot routing Cooley, Thomas and Moss draw the coverage left leaving Cooley wide open.

http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/402368

1st play of the Cards' ensuing possession, Leinart is forced out of the pocket and I take Marcus Washington in to light up Leinart and force a fumble which Jason Taylor recovers for the TD.

http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/402440

1st user pick, late in the 1st half. I get greedy in the redzone and throw an INT with Campbell trying to hit Cooley in the crossing route and dskillz user picks with less than a minute to go. On the next play, Leinart throws what looks to be a safe pass but I manage to get Springs over the top and snag it.

http://www.easportsworld.com/en_US/video/402468

And finally, needing a TD to tie the game, with plenty of time on the clock, Leinart starts driving the Cards downfield again, but I make a great break on the ball with Landry for the INT.

Meh. A lot of the improvements you guys wanted are put in and the devs get shat on for implementing them. I was the most critical of the game at first, but I'm finding it to be one of the best iterations of Madden in the last few years and certainly the best of the "next gen" installments.

They changed the game a lot, but that's what people wanted. Now that they get it, the players don't want to adapt to it. You can't change a game so much and expect to play it the exact same way you've been playing it.

I still haven't seen the unstoppable passing offense. And if it did exist, we'd be seeing a lot more crazy scores.

Frankly, a lot of the things people complain about, contradict each other. One day, the passing offense is unstoppable and the DBs are morons. The next, the DBs are making "bullshit" plays and are too strong. You can't run, but somehow someone manages to run 150 yards. It's impossible to stop people, yet somehow teams are getting shutdown. You can't have it both ways. Either it is or it isn't.

Hate to say it but highlight stick is useless. There are more possibilities with the stick than just those four functions.

Back juke is useless, so you have to make up for truck, juke left, and juke right.

Get rid of the useless pitch ball which is on L2. L1 is open. Get rid of the triangle to hurdle and make it automatic like in years past. Move cover ball to triangle like it used to be. L1 and R1 could be juke left and right. L2 truck. Right analog stick used to lead block.

The end.

I don't disagree that this game is one of the better versions ever (best being 05), and I like a lot of the things that are done. However, I don't think you can deny that there are problems with the game outside of things that may have become unbalanced due to fixing something else.

Further, I had trouble running the ball when I first got the game, but I never changed how I run from one year to the next like I was supposed to with this year's game. If you notice, with all 145 yards that BJac ran for, I only had one broken tackle. Shows that I can't even use the new break tackle feature.

And really I don't know who asked for freezing, wr direct snaps, and the ability to break the rules of the NFL.

I do retract my passing offense comments from like the second day I had the game. I'm a little better at pass D, however, as FMT stated, the QBs are insanely accurate even with a defender about to lay the wood.

That's why I said people have to adjust. It's because the game is so much different from years prior. Like I said when the game first came out, you can bitch about it or you can adapt. I was unable to run in the beginning too, but I found out it wasn't the game, it was me.

And yes, there are things I don't like about the game and things I want added (like stiff arm control), but that doesn't make the game "GARBAGE CONFIRMED!"

And really I don't know who asked for freezing, wr direct snaps, and the ability to break the rules of the NFL.
I did. Because that's what I meant. I meant that everything that was added, even every little bug, was because we asked for it.

Those things are being fixed, btw. The only point bringing them up now is bitterness. Who in the league has EVER done the WR direct snap? The only "freezing" I've experienced is the post game freeze where it just circles around the stadium, but I've only encountered it once. Those are being fixed, nonetheless. There will never, in your lifetime or mine, be a bug free sports game. It's impossible, but at least this year, they are acknowledging that they know about the problems and they are willing to work on fixing them.

Insanely accurate, yet we had a long discussion about why it was that Asomugha had that endzone pick and you were adamant that it was because your QB didn't throw it exactly where you wanted it. Maybe they are way accurate (you do have an acc qb), but insanely accurate is a complete hyperbole.

Hey man. You've got me. PSN = "chifty'

If you can play in the next two hours, let me know. I'm home, so I'll add you and send you an invite

Since you posted 24 minutes ago, I bet you'll be able to, but I'd much rather do it this way than turn my PS3 on and use their horrible messaging system to get your attention. IM would be ideal but hey your leaguedaddy page lists no info. You don't exist in their system! You're like Jason Bourne!!

Okay. But can there be a game without things like these?

Tell me you've tried to run tosses in which guards just run in the direction of the play, counters in which DE's come in untouched, PAs in which entire lines come through without being hindered. Obviously it can't be 100% because it's just not realistic, but I'd like to think that something as simple as a counter can be run without the same scrub DE being in my face every play.

I knew you would bring that up, and to that I will simply say that there is a reason why I try not to pass.

i wouldn't call the qb's insanely accurate under normal conditions. the qb's in the nfl are some of the best athletes in the world and i expect them to be able to make pinpoint throws that normal people couldn't make.

my issue with accuracy is that it is tough to decrease it when you get after the qb. that's not to say we don't see over throws, under throws, interceptions, or bad throws, but i think EA needs to tweak it JUST A BIT the other way.

anyhow, of course there are issues with the game and i dont think anyone is debating that, but overall the game is excellent (but yes the bugs are annoying... at least they're fixing them)

What? Sacks? Yeah, those will happen...

#1 - come on...that's an OBVIOUS offensive line spread at the wrong fucking time. And he just stood in the precise spot for them to get him to boot. Just stood there...

#2 - The Oline did mess up, but a) that's not a scrub and b) he just backed into it. If he would have stepped up or gone right, it would have bought a split second.

#3 - Ill handled stunt. He had tons of space in the middle, though. If people run around or stunt, get inside.

#4 - that's just broken...cowboys are massively overrated, what can I say :\

#5 - Pinch mode, yet he ran back. Not only that, but it was a designed 3 step that he took 9 yards.

Have I had that happen? Yep. Does it happen consistently enough to break the game? Not in my opinion.

The way to run counters is to get between your tackle and your guard or your TE and your tackle. The tackle will usually let him come in a step to sell it, but will engage after you're headed that way. Often times, you can't run behind it, but you can run between the tackle (who is now a ways behind the LOS) and your guard (who is now roughly at the LOS). PAs are very effective unless you run a designed roll into the blitz. DM runs them very well and so does FMT.

This game still has a ways to go, but I can't hate an installment like this. Yes, it has various faults, but it is the best of the gen and a step in the right direction (except online!). This was an even bigger leap than the previous years and it takes some getting used to, but it's a better game for it.

I knew you would bring that up, and to that I will simply say that there is a reason why I try not to pass.
Well, I don't know how to respond to that. :p

My original statement wasn't aimed at your directly. It was more of a general statement about what people here and at OS were saying. And you didn't say the game sucked, but other people here keep repeating it (like, for example, read [this post] and the post it's quoting) . That's what it was aimed at. This isn't my holy grail or anything. I'm just calling it like it is.

When the game is shit, I call it. I was, along with you, one of the few calling 07 and 06 for the turds that they were. Everyone was so high on them at first not willing to "go back", but they were shit, I knew it, and I called them out on it.

If you don't want to acknowledge the fact that the linemen let the defenders run by without even engaging (while being in position to do so for the most part), I don't know what to tell you.

Looks like you were aiming it directly at me with:

You can't run, but somehow someone manages to run 150 yards.

But... I put a lot of time in with the practice mode from when I couldn't run to my game with Mig (against the Saints D).

Remember you're home so you will have to send the invite.6 mins on all-pro and make sure your camera is set to classic or it could freeze the game.

Also winner types in the final stats for each team after the game.

Loser only has to type in their player stats.

Ok going on.

I feel your pain, FSF..3 points was a lot for me last year, so keep at it and hope you face a shittier D next week. Sucks that you had to waste your last timeout automatically on a dumb injury in the last minute. Otherwise, a good a clean game..a rare low scoring one.

edit: heh, it sure does make saving replays easy when there's only one TD in the game I'd have been too tired to find any if this was a shootout.

and P.S: I've got to thank the new guy for playing so cleanly. There are always worries about cheese when a new person joins, let alone someone to GAF...so I'm glad to report that he was totally legit.

For some reason, there is no Steve SMith on my stat sheet, so Steve Sciullio has Steve Smith's receiving stats. Anyone know whats going on with Smith?
