You know, if she did just that today instead of confirming, then doubling, then back peddling, none of this heat would've happened. Someone should tell her when to talk and when not to, and not jump the gun.
 
You should calm down, grab a 10$ game on the eshop and play something until friday comes.

I picked Etrian Odyssey Untold for that price, and I have to say I'm fairly enjoying my time.

I will gladly agree that Emily could be a bit more restrained when it comes to these things, but she's also human. She isn't running in a Presidential election here...
 
Fuck sake this is ridiculous

Given how dead the Wii U is, you would think they would want to raise some excitement not further frustration, given their current situation in the console space. Zelda alone just doesn't cut it in my opinion.

It could go two ways here, the longer they leave it, they could surprise people in a good way and the wait was worth it or if the system is underwhelming then they could be in for a real backlash from some of their core fans and maybe the media too.

These "insiders" or ITK gossip twitter accounts are grating now too, they could do with a dose of apathy not more attention IMO

You know vaguely what you're getting here and if you want that right away then put money aside or don't. You're way too invested in this. The reveal has very little to do with anything here. Get a grip.

edit: general thoughts: people just need to chill the hell out. most of the people making a stink are gonna end up not buying it anyway since somehow this magical "return to form" image has been planted in some people's heads which takes the shape of expectations that cannot and will not be fulfilled anyway. can't wait until that part of the crowd can go back to not caring about what nintendo does as usual.

Etrian Odyssey series is GLORIOUS!!!

I wish the original three were ported to Wii U VC....*imagines bumping that soundtrack through the tv speakers*

Different types of games in the same franchise releasing relatively close isn't unheared of. Hell, they released NSMB2 and NSMBU within a few months of each other, and they were the very same type of game.

It's as much role as functionality. Sony didn't make Vita the successor to both PS2 and PSP. Apple didn't make the iPad the successor to both iPhone and Mac. Whereas Nintendo has these two historically different product lines that they are apparently now breeding together, so it is a hybrid of those two things. There's also that while Vita could connect to a TV, it was still very much designed as the portable. No connecting multiple controllers for some local multiplayer Vita PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, any more than was the case with Super Smash Bros. for 3DS.

Was that so? Hmm, I mean, I can tell it's obvious there was probably a lot of internal concerns regarding the game (lengthy delay, announcing the Guard pack-in pretty late in the game, ectc.) but some of the later stuff he mixed in there like the infamous delay talk just didn't seem right.

At least we can clearly see a struggle going on: how much hardware reveal does take prime time vs how much software reveals do take prime time. Knowing full 2017 fiscal year software schedule well in advance: Super Mario Run, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario Maker and Breath of the wild, assure me that software actually leads and I'm quite happy about that. Peace!

It's my first experience with the serie, I have to admit the start was a bit brutal (I thought it was okay if I bumped into the big F.O.E. from the first level...that was a bad idea) but it's fun to play, I like to explore these giant dungeons.

I hope the serie will continue to expand on NX.

I honestly don't care if she's offended or bothered by posts on gaf, but I personally find it annoying to read people attempt to dissect and disparage insiders and tweets without actually thinking about where the information actually may have originated. It just perpetuates ignorance within the community.



Anyway, this is not a productive area of discussion. Thinking back to some of Thraktor's posts in the past few days, I'm getting more and more optimistic about the NX, hardware wise. It might end up surprising some people who have it pegged as a slightly more powerful Wii U.

Yes, ultimately she is just someone who got overeager to share info to get people excited.

She wasn't trying to scam you people, or get your hopes up only to dash them. It's your own fault for taking her every tweet as if it was direct info from Nintendo senior management.

You would think Link would lose the battle since he's so unstable with the stand, but Toon Link's sword sheath popped right off so he lost. A shame.

This conversation really needs to be less focused on Emily Rogers. Just in general we need to stop flipping out about every single piece of barely-news we come across.

Everything is a rumour until Nintendo confirms it..... some people are insane about a videogames console, shouldn't take everything that seriously. NX will be revealed soon enough. What i can't understand: There are so many rumours and so called insiders out there, but Emily gets 80%+ of the hate.

Yeah, I mean i'm really curious about NX and I can't wait to know about it too, though some post here are getting crazy, almost like if NX was the most important thing in the world, it's just a console designed to play videogames, and about videogames there are so many good ones coming lately that I can't even play half of what I'd like to...go play some of those games and have fun instead of spending all your spare time here waiting for who knows what, of course mine is just an advice, don't mean to tell you what to do
 
Nintendo will announce something on the internet a minute after the RDR2 trailer goes up tomorrow

but since the internet will be down, no one will notice.
 
Anyone reading the tea leaves on what the NES mini means for NX VC? Sure, NES mini is a standalone product, but it provides considerably more value for the money than individual VC downloads have in the past. It's a non-issue for the Wii U considering that Nintendo has all but abandoned it. But won't the individual game pricing look a little salty on NX VC if things stay the same?

And what are the chances we ever get GameCube emulation on NX? Impossible to answer without specs of course, but I'm removed enough From GameCube emulation to be naïve about what it takes to emulate hardware-wise. Would it be possible under any realistic circumstances?

I agree here, and I'm sorry that I took part in that discussion.

Let's get back to actual predictions:

I've been maintaining that we will get a Thursday/Friday announcement of a Monday or Tuesday direct/digital event. Now with this news of no strategy briefing, I'm actually even more confident there will be a reveal event next week, though it might end up being next Thursday or Friday too.

This makes sense because Nintendo would not need to hold a strategy briefing if they are holding a much larger event in the same week. This would also agree with essentially everything the insiders are saying.

Any thoughts?

How does the presence of the press and investor briefings work vs. the absence of the strategy briefing? Couldn't they offer the same kind of information in a press/investor briefing as they would have in a strategy briefing? I'm ignorant on these issues. Thank you.

It has been rumored there might be a subscription service for VC instead of selling the games piece-meal.
 
I feel like some speculation has gotten out of hand.


...on the other hand, I found a crate of letter blocks on the side of the road and the blocks of N and X were missing. THAT'S gotta mean something!
 
Ok, it seems that its not happening this month, at this point they may as well unveil it after Pokemon Sun and Moon releases in November 18 but then PSX is really close so maybe do it after that but then you are almost at the end of the year so it doesnt hurt to just reveal it next year.
