Yeah, Banjo didn't chart anywhere. Sadly that's exactly as some of us were expecting.

that's too bad as the game is very good and i nice change of gameplay compared to the other shit out there.

i think low review scores hurt the game some too. docking points because it isnt classic BK is retarded, i think some reviewers were expecting a different game going in.
i swear some didnt play past the first two worlds either.

What's the framerate like?

im very picky about framerates and while it does drop at times(mainly when spashing around in water) for the most part it's good. the framerate is nowhere near as bad as say GTA4, it never hampers the gameplay.

Rare need to ad some high profile DLC during a quiet time of the year, bit like Burnout, might make people check it out?

that would be nice. it be cool if they added more stop and swap type stuff to go along with banjo tooie xbla.

I wouldn't worry about the framerate. It rarely drops, the engine is incredibly solid.

GTA is a pretty good example. I played that for a bit after completing BK and in comparison it seemed to run really badly.

It's going to be a slow burn just like Kameo and Viva Pinata. Pity, but years from now we'll still be getting threads about people discovering Banjo N&B. Hopefully we'll have a sequel by then.

honestly I'm waiting to pick it up, since I'm at school I have a standard definition T.V. here. I'm planning on picking it up next week on my way home school. I can't wait to play it, looks so awesome.

I'm sure it will be a slow burn, although there really isn't that big of a marketing push for the game. They should have thrown it in as their holiday game in the arcade package. I'm not sure why they didn't do that with Viva considering they want that to appeal to children and parents..

yeah I'm planning on getting it based on the demo I really liked the potential with the vehicle creation physics.

hmmm..or should I get Kameo first?

Kameo is an average game. Banjo is a FANTASTIC game.

Exactly.

And I'm willing to go so far as to say that Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is the most underrated games of all time.

It's really a shame this amazing concept spiraled downwardly into a commercial failure. Hopefully Rare doesn't have to resort to guns and shooters because of this.

Kameo is great, but honestly Banjo is one of my favorite games of this generation.

It's relieving to hear the community feedback to this game, as it seems to be pretty positive ( as opposed to the critics ). I haven't bought the full version yet, but it would make a perfect christmas-present for myself and I... :)

Honestly, who didn't see this coming :(

It's such a shame, because it's obvious that Rare put a lot of time and effort into this game. And love... lots of love...

Hopefully it will still sell reasonably. I haven't lost all hope yet!

I think it will do okay, and certainly within expectations. It's not like this game is flooding the channels. Most people say the shipments are low, it's kind of hard to find (it definitely was for me when I was searching Best Buy and Circuit City).

I don't think MS expected this to be an overnight blockbuster. Just a strong catalogue title for the console. That's certainly the attitude with which they shipped it.

I'm officially not a part of the problem. Picked mine up (along with a free copy of the original for XBLA) today and hope to post impressions just once I'm done with Fable II!

Bear In A Ball is driving me CRAZY!!!

I'm aware of the fact that you can modify the vehicle at the beginning, but is there any way to correct the steering. Holding the control upside-down isn't working out so well. How did you guys get the T.T?

Thank you GAF.

I played the demo and wrote this off pretty much. Then after the repeated praise, I decided to pick this up along with Scene it on a TRU deal ($40 for both)...

And well it is pretty damn addicting, and while yes it is like the demo, it is completely different in that everything you do now has a purpose. Building the vehicle even though I have like 4 new parts...well to me it is fun now and I can see where this is going to be great.

Collection on a full game is also far more enjoyable. Anyway, far loving this game more than I expected, and can't wait to really get into it.

I really hope we get some serious DLC and a sequel at some point, the nuts and bolts brand has so much potential. If Rare increased (and put more emphasis on) level exploration, I don't think people would complain as much.

If nothing else, this game would be a phenomenal title for MS to bundle with the console.

I really like this game. It still keeps me from Fallout 3.
The bad reviews, lack of appreciation for the visuals and mention of frame-rate issues leave me dumbfounded.

third, if i finish the game can i go back and keep playing my challenges?

Finally handed in my last assignment. I now have a month of free time, which means dicking around in Banjo. I spent like two hours trying to make a realish car today. :lol

The "roll down the mountain" task seems pretty broken in Nutty Acres. My vehicle could go for ever and ever, provided I cared enough to hold the analogue stick right long enough.

you should get kameo too. it might not be perfect but it's still good and can be found for less than $10.

Is this the one where left is right and right is left and you have to go through a course trying not to hit the dominoes? If so, then get out of your vehicle as soon as the race starts, push B, make it into a motorcycle. Makes it alot easier.

There's a yellow-greenish pipe near the Jig-o-Vend.

Wait until you unlock a certain Grunty attachment later on.

Yeah.

I conquered Bear in a Ball (not cool, Rare).

All I have left is Terrarium of Terror Acts 2 & 3. I've heard that The Saucer of Peril is basically impossible to get a T.T. in, but beyond that is the worst behind me?

Three TT trophies to go, them being the Mr Fit escort mission, the Saucer of Peril and the final boss. I think I know which one I'll skip.

The only difficult Terrarium challenge I can think of is the the germ mission where you're given a shitty L.O.G. vehicle with balloons. Dump the fat and just use the jet, but the amount of time it takes to do so makes it frustrating.

Oh, and not mine, but just had to share the awesomeness.

You can recorrect it by removing certain parts and rebuilding them. I'm not sure which ones make the difference, but here is what I did.

Remove the base unit, consisting of 4 wheels, two fuel cells and a few poles connecting them up. Throw them on the floor.
Remove the large engine and Banjo seat, throw them on the floor.
Select the big ball and move it aside.
Go out of building mode, then throw the ball away so it doesn't interfere.
Now, just put all the stuff you have leftover together and the steering should be back to normal with a better handling vehicle.

However, this vehicle is very twitchy because of the low weight and large engine, so I'd but some wedges on there from the ball to add some weight and improve the aerodynamics. Don't make it too wide because the dominoes at the top are a tight squeeze.

More of that car please :D Looks awesome. I'll make some cool stuff over christmas when my assignments are all in and all I have left is reading.

edit
Crap, didn't mean to double post >_< I'll make up for it with a pretty picture at some point.

Damn. I almost think the solution I used was easier, just holding the controller backwards.

;D

Yeh but then you look like a 'tard :p

Honestly I didn't actually think of that at the time, but I imagine it was more satisfying this way.

They REALLY need to fix the speed the text scrolls across the screen. Maybe it's not so bad on a bigger tv but on my little tv it's impossible to keep up with the text sometimes. People keep saying you can press LB to slow it down, but that doesn't work during the cutscenes, and the cutscenes and the cutscenes are the parts that need it! With the dialogue that you CAN slow down with LB, it waits for you to press A to continue the dialogue anyways!

Is modifying the LOG's choice vehicles something the developers didn't think of? I always thought that the point was to make do with whatever piece of crap they hand you, it feels like cheating.

I think limiting your parts is still quite a challenge.

someone got tips on defeating gruntilda in the terranium of terror world? she flies around cloaked with a giant blower and you just need to defeat her in time...

i have tried a variety of flying vehicles all armed to the teeth. even nailing her with dual lasers only causes limited damage before i run out of ammo (and yeah, the ammo guage is maxed).

...

and, i still cant figure out how to get on top of the buildings in the terranium of terror area of showdown town. i dont see any pipes to climb near the jiggy-vend at all :(

They're there. Walk slowly at the corners of each building until you see the footprints.

The pipe is located
on the front of the houses near the Jinjo cell

ok I'm gonna have to buy this game. I left the demo running all night just so I wouldn't have to start over when I play it again today.

This just reminds me of how bad I was at Sonic 1.

Not sure what to go back to this game for now :( Aside from getting a couple of the random achievements, I wont be able to play online because I don't have Live Gold =( Just as well I suppose, still have Mirror's Edge, Fable and Fallout to play...

Man that Landmaster is EPIC. Someone has to do the Arwing, Great Fox, and that stupid little submarine.

I've been trying to just power through the challenges to get the jiggies I need to unlock newer things, and then later I'll go back and do all the trophies I didn't get. It is just so much fun though doing the challenge and getting it done in like 4 mins, modifying my vehicle and getting it done in 3, and then rethinking it entirely and building something new from scratch and doing in in under a min :lol

Zoso

It's been a long time, been a long time, been a long lonely lonely lonely lonely lonely time.
I picked this up again after having finished Banjo Kazooie XBLA. I just unlocked the sticky tires and have been exploring Showdown Town for quite a while. It's a very awesome town. I was hoping the text patch would be out by now, but alas I couldn't read a damn thing on my SDTV. I'll wait to do anymore challenges until the patch is out, because it's hard to do challenges when you don't know what exactly you're supposed to be doing...

Having just come from the original Banjo Kazooie, the Banjo fanboy in me is still a bit weary of the vehicle aspect of Nuts & Bolts. I know it'll grow on me because I really like the concept, but it'll take some time. The most important thing is that N&B still has the Banjo charm, which is the main reason I love the series. I'm looking forward to getting some good parts and making some crazy vehicles : )

Alright, the challenge where you have to hurl the shot put in the Jiggoseum is the best in the game. So much fun. I spent like three hours trying crazy ideas just to see if they'd work. My two most effective:

6r2e5x.jpg

This vehicle just spins round and round. I attach the shot put with a sticky ball, and release it with a detacher when I reach maximum speed. I get some pretty crazy distance with this method.
