The Official DEVIL MAY CRY 3 Thread.

Ah, I've been out of the loop.

But it seems another bajallion no-hit/speed run/combo showing combat videos are put up on various game boards.

Blah blah, "perfect use of Royal Guard, taking no damage, beating final boss in 10 seconds" been there done that.

But what caught my eye was this MUSIC VIDEO, that seemingly takes the cliche nature of Linkin Park and makes a pretty damn good cutscene montage. music video.

Download here:

God dayum Yuji Shimomura is good!

Woah. NTSC-UK assembled a full ROYAL GUARD mastery page with tutorial videos on how to use each and every facet of Royal Guard ownage. I just noticed it, so it was probably posted up recently.

Videos to Master Royal Guard

Yea, that guide is nice. It brings together a lot of good stuff. Anybody who got beat up by this game and vowed to come back later ought to read it and watch some of the videos even if only for inspiration. This game still kicks ass.

The guys at NTSC-UK really know this game. The dude who wrote the guide helped me through the game in parts and he knows this game inside out! Just when I think I know a fair bit about the game, he finds new things and makes videos of them and I don't even know how to describe them :lol

btw he's now making a guide for Swordmaster style. That'll be online soon I'd guess

Combo Video Update: (there are quite a few released everyday from different regions/websites, but this is from yours truly)

The handvseye updated with a few new combo video. Some new Royal Guard just-frame exploits and the "Killer Bee" infinite cycling trick. Awesome stuff.

Basically, to perform the "infinite Killer Bee's" you press jump at the exact moment Dante's jump kick connects the enemy, Dante thing springs off and you can rinse and repeat. The timing takes getting used to, but it's not all that hard to pull off.

Woohoo! finally beat agni and rudra, after god knows how many tries, i kept getting 0wned, I thought of changing style for something else than Royal guard but i kept thinking that i had to beat it with that style, only way i could continue with it forward, so i practiced and practiced my parry. A few tries again with the boss to no success but i started to know its pattern. Another try before i was going to give up for the day, BAM! He didnt EVEN land a single blow on me and i 0wned him in like 45 secs.. I came in with 2 full orbs for some really damaging releases, i did them during a "parry moment" which did MASSIVE damage. I 0wned them so hard in fact that the 2nd guy didnt even have time to pick up the 2nd sword.

Wow, i love this game.

But now im getting 0wned in the chamber of trials ; ;

The chamber of trials is pretty easy.

You only have to complete two trial tests, however--if you complete three you'll recieve the weapon Artemis.

The first trial is a simple "birth to death puzzle"

A baby walks on 4's.

A young man walks on two's

An old man walks with a cane. (3)

So go through the doors with the corresponding lights in that order.

4 then 2 then 3

For the next trial, you have to dodge spikes coming from the top, bottom, and sides.

Easy, bust out the Trickster Style. Dante's dashes have invincible frames. There is a secret mission much later in the game where Trickster LEVEL 3 is probably the only way to beat it and get the blue orb fragment.

And the last trial is a combat-skill trial. You have to fully activate both runes on each ends before you can damage the enemies. After all that, you fight a mini-boss, a Hell Vanguard (the same grim reaper wannabe you fought at the end of Mission 2. But you're better off than me, I'm trying to SS rank that mission and --I have to fight TWO OF THEM AT ONCE-- on Dante Must Die mode... ;_;...indeed.

Hope that helps!

:lol Feels like you're in a church when 2 of those bastards tag team you; it's just bells constantly going off and you getting your ass kicked!

Vanguards: "Ding_Dong_Ding_Dong_Ding_Dong"

Me: Teleport, Zero Shift, Dodge, Dodge, Dodge, (pray), Teleport, Roll, Jump, Jump, Roll, (pray some more), "get hit once" , Curse, Curse, Curse God, *Presses Start, Retry*

Getting hit once blows your chance of an SS rank. =/

DMC3 rocked so much...but was so hard. =(

That it is, but you should watch the boss videos that people have made. Like most Capcom games, if you're getting owned that means you're not doing something right. Watching these videos over at:

www.thehandvseye.com really helps. Yes, I help put together that site so I'm pimping it out a like a little whore-man-bitch, but if you still own the game you should watch them. Or you could just watch the cutscenes (they are all uploaded to) :D

Up to virgil's fight, goddamn i got 0wned /cry

Vergil fight 1 is really easy:

It's a "you go I go" based fight.

Basically, if you don't think you can attack Vergil, don't. It's a very "calm fight."

... you want to get close to him to get Vergil to start attacking you. Dodge the attacks, and then after he's done he'll be in a state-of-downtime. That's when you do your damage.

You can only hit him (I think--from memory I'm saying this, but 5 times before he'll parry you). This is noted by the huge block sound blue sparks (duh), after that--IMMEDIATLY ROLL OR DASH away.

Do not try to overpower him, out muscle him, or out speed him, just roll out of the way. THE INSTANT you see him parry you, roll.

So really, it's let him attack. You counter, but don't go mashy on it, cus he'll suddenly parry and counter you.

Just think of this as a "calm" fight. Unlike the previous fights, there is no 'weak-spot' or lengthy combos won't help you. Short stacatto based attacks, do your damage and RUN MAN--RUN!

--UPDATE--

The Devil May Cry 1 Sound Hearts DVD audio/video files are now available for online download. This was released in 2002-ish and it was Japan only. It's now out of print so I don't think the mods are going to care too much about intellectual copyright protection or whatever.

(and as always, new DMC3 combo/tactic vids are hosted up everyday there, so continually check it out time to time)
