Yep. Never has a 5th place been so gifted, or so appreciated.

Bernie isn't really serious about adding sprinkler systems, he's just getting his dose of crazy media fix.

Although adding a few sprinklers at one corner on a track would sure spice things up :p.

Croatian F1 track plan looks alot like Austin:
http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2011/03/04/f1-track-plan-croatia-lot-austin/

But it's a Tilke track, so it'll probably suck. At least the Silverstone guys did a good job imo.

Although you never know here in Croatia - I mean, we're on the brink of economic collapse as an country, but we still spend the money like there is no tomorrow - this will never going to be built.

But, if there is some Bernie's own money involved - which we speculate here in Croatia, his private ties here are extremely strong - than something could happen.

All we know so far is that land is private-owned and that whole project should be private-invested.

But since the talks talk about 250 million euros in costs (more than 300 million dollars, which is a pretty much crazy sum because we all know how much the wonder of Abu Dhabi price was), I say that something is very fishy there.

Future will tell.

On the other side of the same story, at this moment - 3 weeks before the first race - in Croatia there is no official confirmation for broadcaster for the Season. National TV has ended tradition of F1 broadcast after 40 years and no commercial stations have negotiated broadcast.

Sad days for all F1 fans in Croatia, since we had a unique agreement with FOM regarding payouts for broadcast, which were among lowest in the world because of his emotional relationship with Croatia.

I still can't believe I will not be able to watch Melbourne start from my bed as I did for my whole life.

Same is here in Serbia. :-/ There is no official word yet on who will broadcast F1. Its a good thing that I watch F1 exclusively over BBC in the last two years.

It has been confirmed the final HRT seat has gone to Liuzzi. From the beeb....

1312: First and foremost, however, some breaking news. Hispania have announced Vitantonio Liuzzi as their second driver for 2011. The Italian will join forces with Narain Karthikeyan behind the wheel of the F111, which has yet to be unveiled.

This is really sad, even we in Slovenia watched races on HRT due to very small amount of commercials and great commentators. Until last season when several distributors stared to censor HRT during F1 races.

We will have F1 back on national TV, but our 'beloved' commentator Miran 'UuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUU' Ališič is making a comeback. Watch this or this, mix that with 3 minute commercial block every 20 minutes.

How fucking good was that race, seriously? Honestly never would've picked at that time he'd be as good as he is now.

I still remember seeing his first ever win (at Germany?) at a pub on a Sunday night. Epic.

Not crazy. Seemed like there was less rule bending and technicalities back in "those days" and everything was a lot more straightforward.

Well, I prefer it anyway, regardless of performance. The all-black livery of the Minardi helps, too.

Sauber running quali sims today, but the track temp is fairly warm today so i guess the times aren't completely comparable to the previous days

How good? So good. As was the win in Germany, coming from the penalty to get his maiden win? Awesome.

Am I crazy for thinking that this car looks better than the F1 cars we got today?
Nope. Simpler = prettier in many cases and the 2002 Minardi was one simple car.

Seems like the field is getting more tightly packed now that we're closing in on the first GP. I hope that's some improvements I'm seeing from Mercedes. They launched their new forward exhaust yesterday, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have to test the reliability thoroughly with that, and hopefully even holding back a bit today, as they clearly were yesterday.

Could be fun times. But Red Bull seem to be blowing the others away.

Oh, and judging from that nose on the Williams, have they begun testing their air-powered KERS?

Thinks his PR is better than yours.

I still can't believe how beautifully molded the RB7 is. This pic is from yesterday. No other car is as sculpted and smooth as that. It's no surprise they're .5+ second faster than everyone.

I watched that race again yesterday, it was amazing. Bahrain is such a shit track, I hope the locals torch the place.

Australia should always be the season opener. Everything else is just wrong.

F1 photographer Sutton Images on Twitter: "McLaren running aero paint everywhere today and now on the air intake into the engine or somewhere else! But they are still not happy with something on the car."

Paint is out again, this car is looking like a dud

The private subleague is called NeoGAF, and the password is gaffers

To join the NeoGAF league, go to the edit profile option, and choose the change subleague option.

Yup! I'll be there, as usual. My favourite weekend of the year.

Meant to be monitoring loads on the front wing. They may not be the fastest, but the maccas do sure pull out some weird and unique stuff!

Mclaren has an epic lack of test running so far and an incredibly unreliable car. The start of the season will be pretty crappy for them

Sucks badly, we need as many competitive cars as we can

Read on the Autosport forums(yeah I know, Jesus Christ the MP4-26 thread O_O) that the reason Mclaren had to change an engine today and miss out on valuable track time was because Flow Viz got into the engine.

I was wondering if there was a chance of that... specifically if it could affect other cars. I guess that most would have had the sense to stay away from it though.

The HRT should just permanently be attached to the safety or medical car. Actually no, both Mercedes machines are far too good to have lumps of shit attached to them.

HRT are total pikeys, will just cause mulitple red and yellow flags. Liuzzi should also be banned for being a mobile accident.

I'm all for one shit team being on the grid. They cause good accidents and back the pack up with safety cars. It's a dyanmic way of keeping races interesting, contrasting Bernie's idea of sprinklers.

Interestingly, those of us who play F1 2010 all feel the same way, as Orgun is our HRT that keeps our races interesting with his cock ups.

I think the progress mercedes have been making is what a lot of people (myself included) were hoping for from mclaren. Mercedes started off a bit meh, but seem to have gotten a nice boost out of their most recent upgrade, whatever it was.

I reckon we could have red bull, ferarri, mercedes, sauber and even torro rosso in the mix this year, if these tests are anything to go by.

here is how i see it after testing
1 tier: RBR, Ferrari
2 tier: Mercedes, McLaren(?), Renault (?)
3 tier: Force India, Toro Rosso, Williams, Sauber
4 tier: rest

I think especially the midfield will be superclose this year
