HOLY FUCKING SHIT @ Three Leaf Clover.

Best GTA mission ever? If not, it's certainly a strong contender. The only one I can think of offhand that comes close is the mission in SA where you finally leave Los Santos, chased by all the cops through the aquaduct, etc.

After trying it once and failing, this is the first mission in the game that I actually wanted to stock up on before retrying - usually I just barrel through them over and over until I get lucky and win, but this time I was like "fuck that I'm going in strapped." I bought body armor and $10,000 worth of grenades. :lol :lol :lol It's actually not that hard if you use the granades liberally. Throwing one will always blow up the cop cars blocking your path, leaving just a couple of stragglers left alive.

The whole thing was just... amazing. Nico screaming at the helicopter... the guys alternating between their plan seeming hopeless one minute and brilliant the next... and to cap it all off I was so worried that I would fail getting back home I grabbed the first four-door I could find: a total soccer-mom minivan. :lol :lol The mental image of these cold-blooded bank-robbing killers escaping in it cracks me the hell up.

GTA IV had been... ok for the first several hours. But not great. I was still enjoyinh myself thanks to the crazy detail in of the world (faux internet), the characters (Brucie), etc., but the gameplay itself hadn't wowed me. But the game REALLY came into it's own when I was playing tonight. Two epic helicopter missions followed up by Three Leaf Clover, all the intriguing "Paper Company" stuff, Three Leaf Clover, 5 people to take missions from, the entire map finally being opened up, etc.

I still say the opening hours should be paced better, because it took a little too long to get to The Awesome, but shit, now that I'm there, I'm completely hooked. Game has me by thr balls.
I just got finished with that one too, made sure I had body armor on the third try, it's one long mission.

The quotes of the people on the street are great. After I was done with Three Leaf Clover I started beating up some old lady on the street, cops came by and while I was stomping on her he told me to stop or he'd shoot me in the ball sack. :lol

at the way Manny goes out. He was annoying as shit and a bit of an exploiter but he didn't deserve to go out like that.

I also just recently used a gun for the first time in the game. Shooting has been improved in this game. The cover system works really well. Fighting with fists has also improved a lot. There's more you can do and it looks a lot more realistic.

I've only had 2 zits make it to the social club too. Oddly enough they were both from when I zitted while in freemode. And Tekno what stats do you mean? Physical Challenge stuff or the in-game leaderboards?

I have to do some missions during the day. Even with the brightness pumped it's still hard to see certain things at night.

Still an issue with me as well. I've bumped up Saturation x2 and Brightness x1 from the default but I still am clumsy at night. If I bump up anything else it just washes out my picture, TV settings included.

My only gripe with the game so far.

The mission 'Paper Trail'. What the hell man.
You're supposed to shoot down another chopper but it's seemingly impossible to hit it. Keeping what seems like the same height and reasonable distance, the rocket just trails just past the others edge. Probably tried it twenty times now, no success.

You don't really have to maintain the height. Just get to the Choppers 5 o'clock position. Jacob will take many shots but eventually he'll hit. For the record it took Jacob 3 tries before he took it down for me.

Spoilers for those not near 70%

I didn't kill the traitor from the homeland, I killed Dimitri instead of getting the cash, and Kate Dies. WTF??? I sorta half expected this, but damn it I'm pissed. Pagarino is so fucking dead I can feel it.

Oh my lord, I just died 50x doing Paper Trails. Can someone please help me with these controls. The first flying mission wasnt so hard.

As people were saying earlier the infernius seems uncommon but I did find one right outside the algonquin safe house. I didn't drive it long because I had started a mission that needed a taxi.

According to Gamefaqs, the ultimate prize for getting all 200 pigeons is something that can also be unlocked via a cheat code. That kind of bums me out.

I know you can still justify getting them all as a challenge, but if the reward is that easily accessible and not unique to finding them, it kinda takes the fun out of it. If that information is correct, thumbs down. I had really hoped the ultimate reward was something you couldn't cheat your way to.

Size of this thread is crazy . I've played the shit outta IV, but there's one mission I've been wondering about how to do it. It's one of Francis's missions. After
Clearing out the drug gang in one of the projects, you meet up with him again. He states you missed the big leader or something, and orders you to snipe him down. When you find the dude you can go across the street to watch him. He's watching television. In the cutscene the focus is shortly but noticably on his telephone. I tried to read the numbers on the display of the phone, so I could call him to get his lazy ass up. But I guess my screen is too small (24 inch) because I couldn't really read it through the sniper scope. Can I get binoculars somehwere or something? In the end I tried to shoot the Satellite dish. He freaked out and I had to shoot him down during a drive-by when he fled the scene. Can't help to think that could've been done different :)
.

And I agree, three-leafed cloaver is crazy awesome. I didn't really expect to get through that alive with the amount of firepower directed at you.

I'm trying to burn through the story mode in under 30 hours to get that achievement out of the way, then go back and do all the side stuff. But bunch of people's missions just went up, and I dunno which one advances the story.

(spoilers for just after Three Leaf Clover)
Francis, Derrick, Gerry, or the Italian Mobster? Which one? I'm guessing the mobster, because it seems to be the one heading in a "new" direction, but I really have no idea.

The lawyer interview mission was really fun. I didn't come prepared to shoot my way out so I was running dangerously low on health as I hit the front doors. Stormed by police cars I ran and hopped the railing down into the subway entrance staircase. Brushing police and innocent by-standards out of my way I made it to the train platform just as one left. With no other option I took to the tracks and started legging it in a random direction. Just as I reached darkness I had to dodge a speeding train and then was alone for the rest of my exploration. The police -fearing the train tracks- never did follow me and called off their chase sometime while i was in the tunnels. Victoriously I emerged from the next station a block away from Francis' precinct.

Undress To Kill:
I was having some trouble with this mission, fuckheads have shotguns and smgs and you have to be in ridiculously close range... So I drove a truck up to the rear exit, rammed it flush with the door so there's no way to open it. After bashing the manager counting the money's brains in with a bat I hid in the entrance, opened fire on the club, and the other two tried to flee. After not being able to get out the door, they fucking ran right up to me trying to get out. I actually trampled one in surprise.
Some of these harder missions get incredibly easy if you prepare, like bringing nades to Three Leaf, or a sports car to Snowstorm.

Woof, finally got some good playing time in with the game. Good stuff. Some annoying parts of the game they still haven't fixed, but that's been covered. That Bruce guy is fucking hilarious.

Epic moment of the night: Called a police cruiser via 911, saw the guy coming, shot the driver through the windshield and watched the car veer out of control, taking out 6 people along the sidewalk before it took flight after hitting the median in the road. I cackled like a madman.

In that mission I shanked the money counter then roamed around looking for more guys. Once I found them both I just let me shotgun do the talking in the
lap dance
room then finished anyone dumb enough to stay in the
club
like poor hector.

Sadly I haven't done anything cool in a mission like blocked doors. It's all been very by the book and makes the game feel like things aren't so different. Snippets from previews had me believing that the game was fully open with missions. Calling a cell phone to find who to kill sounded brilliant until I played the mission and it forces that.

The mission structure has me SOL right now because an arrest took all my guns built up. Lj is unavailable to sell my cheap guns. I know the upcoming mission takes more firepower than rambo so I am going to have to race or drive taxi to finish it.

I think I manage to break the mission and subsequently game (reboot needed to fully restore radios, missions, voices..etc).
The mission was 'Paper Trail'.
Normally you are supposed to shoot down the other helicopter right. After 30+ retries with Jakob only shooting one missile ~10sek before it always ended (wonder if it was a bug, I got mad flying skills)... I decided to try something new. I didn't let Jakob have a opportunity to shoot at all so I followed the other chopper to it's landing site. When it landed so did I. I equipped a grenade and lobbed it beneath the other chopper which blew it up, mission successful. Now everything went haywire. I didn't need to fly Jakob anywhere and he was floating inside the floor of my chopper. I took the actual helicopter back and landed it on one of my safehouse parking lots.
I now have myself a permanent chopper there. After all of this, the radios didn't work anymore, not the missions, not any phone call voice clips... it's like it could only read world data from the PS3 HDD, I could fully explore the whole city. In any case, a reboot was needed and it fixed everything. Still have that helicopter.

Can anyone help me with the Shadow mission?

It's the second or third one for Little Jacob where you have to covertly follow this dealer till he meets up with his mates then rush the room and kill them all.

The door keeps shutting and everytime I go in I just get fucking destroyed :lol

Any tips would be appreciated

1) go in and hit RB immediately to go into cover behind the boxes.
2) shoot everyone. Be patient and pick them off. Don't go in with guns blazing.

You can pick one of the guys off from the hallway without even going into the room...I used the shotgun for the other 2 guy's, fairly easy. I used the free aim though...

Easiest thing to do on this mission:
Go inside the club with gun equipped, stand in the entrance hall for a second, shoot the doorman and then the managers will escape. Nip back out the front door and into a car. Proceed. Easy peasy - no need to even go inside the club past the front door.

Same here, it's pretty much instant death for me. However, I find that I am having so much fun advancing the story, I am rarely ever dying or getting a wanted level. In 15 hours of play I have only been arrested once, and I was drunk at the time, so it was almost impossible to get away!

Honestly it's a long ass time, at least it was for me. Do X/D. I suppose he means that there's a decision that will expediate the process of moving out. I do think you have to meet with Francis at least once to move the story along though. Not too sure.
