Would have been cooler had they kept you in the dark beforehand.

Even better if they hadn't spoiled the next 15 episodes with opening 3. And the last 10 ones with opening 4.

I remember stumbling on the French broadcast of SEED once, and the publisher had actually did something clever. It was episode 41 or 42 and they had heavily edited OP4 so that it didn't show the Dominion or Eternal and their crews, among other things. It was a broadcast only thing, the DVD OPs are the same, so I don't know if they did it for OP3 too, but I suspect they did.

Ohhh. I picked up Unit 3 and have already paid for Rebawoo so I'm really interested in how they did in the video.

I almost went to Odaiba this weekend. What's this movie you you mentioned?

It's a short 3D movie shown on a dome-like screen ("Dome-G"), for better immersion. Unfortunately, the dome is on the ceiling and by the end your neck will hurt like hell, but it's okay and freely accessible if you pay the fee to enter the exhibit.

Most of the movie is some bullshit narration by Kira and Lacus about humanity and the never-ending wars, punctuated by a GREAT 3D recreation of Amuro and Char battles over the course of MSG and CCA. The modeling isn't that good for today standards IMO, but the direction and dome experience makes it great. Around the middle of the movie, we get to see a side-story of Gundam Unicorn that occurs one year before the story starts. The Vist Foundation is testing unit 2 "Banshee" and unit 3 "Phenex" and makes them attack a Sleeves squadron, led by the Re-Bawoo. The Geara Zulus are shot down almost immediately but the Re-Bawoo is actually really good (at one point
the Banshee grabs it with its claw and it just splits to evade lol
). Banshee struggles with it and activates the NT-D, but still can't shoot it down. Since the mission is super secret, the Vist Foundation operator wants the Phenex to activate NT-D despite his aide's warning it might cause a resonance.
It does just that, but goes berserk and start fighting the Banshee. It destroys its arm, the Banshee gets thrown out of the picture and the Phenex destroy the bridge of the ship that was transporting it, killing its occupants.
End of the movie.

I think there's a bit more to this story in the little novel offered to anyone who buys the Phenex Gunpla. I think I read something about
the Banshee being heavily damaged and its pilot getting killed, which would explain the retcon of it appearing so soon in the timeline, and the Phenex being destroyed... By the Re-Bawoo maybe? Not sure anymore.

The movie is shown at the "Gundam Front", at Odaiba's Diver City, it's the mall that has the RX 78-2 exposed next to it. 7th floor for the G-Front, you can't miss it. The shops with all the goodies are free to access, as is the Gunpla museum, which showcases all kinds of Gunpla from every series and every period. That includes hilariously old gunpla from 1980 and stuff. Unfortunately none has been properly paint or anything.

You need to pay 1200 yen to enter the paid zone (only 1000 if you buy the ticket on a previous day, at a combini or something I suppose), which houses a meh-looking Strike Freedom Torso and some more or less interesting stuff, like stations to display big pictures of characters to take pictures with them (...) or a (temporary) Gundam Wing-themed exhibition (artworks and stuff, pretty nice). They also have the entire collection of Gundam Files available for reading and there some 30th anniversary commemorative stuff like a nifty-looking plate, signed by Tomino and the VAs of all the major characters from each series.
It also gives you access to the Dome-G for the Phenex movie.
Don't go there on a Sat/Sun, because on these days they have a time system where you need to buy the ticket to enter/exit at a specific time. One hour is enough to see everything I guess, but still...

Wife and I are headed back for a vacation in Japan this coming April. I missed the 1:1 Gundam in 2010, and am definitely not this time. Gundam Front is on my list of stuff, even if it's just for an hour.

Wow! Thanks for the info. I'll keep this all in mind next time I go down there.
I got this little pamphlet today while I was in Akiba. I was surprised to see both of these models for sale already.

I look forward to seeing all the crazy kits that'll come out in the next couple months.

i really like the look of the new wing zero proto

i know its not exactly the tv version, and i guess it falls somewhere in the cannon of frozen watereye drop, but i consider it like a modernized version of wing zero tv and love the panel lines

Its from Glory of The Losers actually.

I feel the same way about it. The new sharper Raster wings give it a really amazing look compared to the pods the Original Zero had.

I can't get over how amazing it looks doing the Rolling TBR. It will be in that pose 95% of the time.

GundamGAF's Victory Gundam Rewatch:
Episode 37

About 200+ beams and missiles were fired this episode.

About only 6 actually hit something.

Kind of sums up the show as a whole.

Shakti wants to go back to Kassarelia.

So it's Yu-gi-oh! Gundam? ಠ_ಠ Didn't expect the supernatural bit lol.

It's pretty fun, though. Pretty much what I expected in a lighthearted anime about Gunplas.

It'll be interesting to see if the next Gundam VS game goes in a similar route as the anime, minus actually using real Gunpla to play. Breaker is kinda similar in that respect to the anime.

The music is sooooo good.

Seeing Wing in animation of todays standard was a real treat, can't wait for the other 90's suits.

I liked how when the show off all his built HG's you get a very clear shot of Turn A, Turn X, and Wing Gundam Zero.

Also they gave Wing both a ton of love as well as slappin him down multiple times haha. The Dad not knowing Wing was particularly funny.

Breaker is extremely similar. I'm honestly surprised there isn't more of a direct connection between the two.

There is a more direct connection. The Vita version is offering Build Strike Gundam as a pre-order DLC bonus! :)

That's cool. Is it actual DLC or just an early-unlock like the PS3 Gundam Breaker bonus DLC?

I really enjoyed Gundam Breaker, and will go back once the PS3 gets the free update with all the Vita content on October 31st.

I don't actually know, but either way, they're definitely trying to tie the game with the anime more closely with the Vita release. They were running ads for the game during the broadcast too, but I guess that's expected. Lol.

Oh yeah I forgot something in my earlier post.

Heero, Duo, Kira, and Athrun need to move the hell over.

Sei and Keiji are without a doubt going to be the new Gundam Yaoi Bait Kings.

Curious if we'll see some crossover with characters from Gundam Breaker. I mean, there's only three or four people in the game. The PS3 is getting all the extra Vita content via the free update, so I'd be fine with more Build Fighters crossover stuff.

I hear there's a 720p feed on YouTube? That will be nice to watch on my TV tonight.

Yarp, it's 720p.

Look at all this gunpla fanservice porn:

Turn X?
Bullshit. No one has a Turn X.

I hope they'll make one for the Build Fighters HG series or whatever they're calling it.

Nice to see Exia there, all big and awesome. My most anticipated Real Grade for sure. If it'll ever happen, that is.

Upside, inside out he's livin la vida loca, He'll push and pull you down, livin la vida loca

If you mean like mixing and matching parts, I could totally see that happening in Trial/Mission mode.

One of the biggest things that stuck with me during this episode, haha. My only thought was "wait a minute, why do you torture us? All the Turn X stuff is crap!".

Really enjoyed the first episode of Build Fighters. Everything I hoped for from a full series version of Beginning G. Perfect mix of lighthearted story and nostalgia. Beautiful to look at, too. Also, Wing Gundam getting it's ass handed to it by a freaking Gyan? Anime of forever.

Given he smacked around Strike with even less effortI would say we need to chalk thay one up to Sei getting his ass kicked by Gyan.

However I got to wonder if Sei's Wing is gping to become Fience, I had originally thought no, but you do see the damaged Wing on his desk and we know Fience is the way it is because it was damaged in the past.

Still the Wing getting absolutely demolished, so that's enough for me.

Man, I don't like the design of the original Wing Zero, but even I'll admit that MG Proto Zero is a pretty kit. Almost hard to pass on. Need to save the cash so when I eventually get back into modeling, I can grab the Sazabi and Nu ver Ka, though.

Well Gyan did even more damage then Libra's main cannon.

On a serious note I do hope we see the same thing for God, X, and Turn A. Hope they don't hold back and we can have a bit of action from all the previous leads only to have get worked while they are in their base forms.

Not if God loves us, it doesn't.

ZZ GUNDAM YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS.

I can't wait to watch the episode, but I'm not out for another 3 hours! Aaaah.
ZZ is the thing I'm hyped for most in this anime. To see it animated in todays quality for more the 2 seconds will be GOD LIKE.

Build Fighters Episode 1

Damn. That was really good. Far better than I was expecting.

As much as I like Wing, seeing it get wrecked was oddly satisfying. Can't wait for more suits to pop up. Plus, Ramba Ral. Hope to get more little cameos like that throughout the series.

I watched the credit scroll opening on my phone while waiting for lunch, but then decided it would be better to watch the whole thing on my HDTV tonight.

Gundam Build Fighters: Episode 1

Really enjoyed this, the battles were really well done and Mr. Ral is making me hope for a Char/Quattro cameo somewhere!

BESPA suits are crap.
