Just got this in :)

I ordered a 1/24 Hi Nu Bust. Going to look awesome in my collection. Normally I wouldn't share a new kit here, but it is just too awesome to pass up and not celebrate with others haha.

Anyway, the real question is : "Will Setsuna ever hold that flower close again?" I mean, it appears in all the openings and stuff so it must be pretty important for the story.

The writer just likes flowers. :lol He's an F91 fan (which is +1 in my book!).

I suppose the "how many suicide-ships can throw on screen every shot" in the ending of Season 2 was just training for the onslaught of identically shaped craft in this movie.

I don't think those are ships. They look more like bits (funnels? whatever they're called).

Billions and billions of them.

Story synopsis for the 00 movie:

"The new enemy seems to be a True Innovator causing havoc, whose name is revealed to be Descartes Shaman. Two years have passed since the defeat of the Innovators and the exposure of the A-Laws' crimes against humanity. The A-Laws have been abolished and their infrastructure integrated into the ESF Army, which has become the mainstay force of world peacekeeping and humanitarian aid. Their goal accomplished and Veda recovered, Celestial Being has returned to the shadows to rebuild and quietly observe the infantile peace that has taken hold; however, the world's exposure to GN Particles has resulted in many people awakening as True Innovators. Realizing the military benefits of such individuals, the Earth Sphere Federation has begun to research Innovation and exploit the emerging Innovators' abilities."

Haha yeah for sure - I dig your stuff, and we're some of the few gunpla builders.

After about a month of researching and watching tons of vids, I just dabbled into preshading tonight. I actually like it and I think I'm going to try to do it more often. Makes things looks super awesome naturally.

Looking for a good tutorial for painting (spraypainting, most likely) Gunpla.

I'm planning to do a Delta Plus in Hyaku Shiki colours, which is completely unoriginal but awesome.

Actually, it does sound like there's some
Tieria
shipping :lol

Here's a non-spoiler review (that I'll tag just in case people are really sensitive) of the movie:

Before going into my 'review', I'll like to say that my opinion on the 00 series was basically:
S1: Found it decent, and absolutely loved it towards the end
S2: Hated it as it could have been much better.

In regards to the movie, I went in with pretty much mid to low expectations while hoping that it would be at least be a decent ending to 00. I was then pleasantly surprised after watching the movie.

It was better than decent. Not great, but good would certainly fit.

The main theme of the movie was understanding one another so that conflict would cease. Pretty much an extension of what 00 Raiser was and I have to say the movie pulled it off decently.
It did have a secondary theme of survival, 'fight to live' etc.

Let me start by saying that there won't be much character development for anyone. Everyone that isn't Setsuna pretty much are just there fighting this last battle against the ELS or in the background. I have to say that I can see the effort that was undertaken to develop Setsuna more but unfortunately, I wasn't really satisfied with it as a whole. It could have been better. The rest of the characters just being there wasn't really great either.

However, I have to say that certain references to past happpenings were extremely touching, and I was close to tearing up at those points.

Fans of Graham would be disappointed with his lack of screentime, but what little dialogue he had was extremely meaningful and reflected on his time as Bushido.

00 Quanta itself did not have enough screentime.

The battles? Best part of the movie. Fight scenes were crazy with the rapid movement of the ELS, you won't be disappointed with the action in this(unless you want moar 00 Quanta). It was great and definitely made the movie as a whole good.

The ending will NOT be satisfying to everyone, including me. It ended off on a good note, but it was really eh.

I could go on and on about many aspects of the movie but I would end off by saying again that the movie was surpisingly good to me. For a person who loved S1 and hated S2, I found the movie to be not great, but definitely good with some shining moments.

Watching the Konami Conference from E3 2010 and watching the Gundam 00 movie will largely provide the same experience. Except the Konami Conference probably has better visuals and better animation in general. :p

For Gunpla fans.

November's MG release is the 00 Qan[T]. Dammit Bandai, I haven't even built the HG 00Q I got on Friday.

Other important news includes the HG Brave / Brave Commander Type in November and the HGAW X Divider in December.

I got really lucky today. There's a used DVD/game/book/CD store that I go to once every week or two in hopes that I can find some used Mobile Suit Gundam DVDs. I went today and they had almost the entire series. I got volumes 1-7, 9 and 10. The only one they didn't have was volume eight. I got them for a pretty good price. Volume one was $8.95 and all the rest were $5.95 each. I'll just have to find volume eight somewhere online. It sucks that it's the Battle of Solomon disc. That's the rarest and most expensive disc in the entire series. It'll be hard to find it anywhere for less than $40 or $50.

I've always wondered how they modified models to be so cool, like that 00 mod. Anyone know where to look to doing stuff like that?

If your name is Nonoriri you have to go buy Nanami's tampons.

I believe it's Nov. 12th, more or less considered an international release date.

What a...gundam related birthday present this is.

Yes and I'm 99.9% certain that I was.

Order it with Right Stuf, I'm sure they'll ship it out early like they typically do.

I ordered it from CDJapan, I want the slip cover >_> I already have the first vol. w/slip cover... Coupons + frequent shopper points = good price :D
Although, the downside is I won't get it until Nov. 18th-20th :(

Unless it becomes a timed exclusive for Amazon, like volume one.

It won't be, it's already been announced for distribution through a few different retailers, and Amazon for some reason has yet to put it up for sale. There's an item page for it, but it's still stuck with the "Sign up to be notified when this item becomes available" placeholder.

Finally was able to see episode 1 of Gundam Unicorn. Very, very well done honestly.

I had a few issues with the impact of certain characters for certain scenes and the protagonists reactions to the aforementioned.

The action and mecha designs though is a nice balance of its own while maintaining that U.C only quality to it.

So after re watching Seed which is something I do almost every year, I've moved on to with Seed Destiny. I'm about halfway through the show and I forgot how awesome the show was, but I'm also noticing some more problems. Beyond the fact that a lot of the new characters don't have that much screen time and that Kira is god, I don't think Shinn was ever the main character. It seems all the early screen time and plot development is about Athrun. I'm personally find with that, but even in the beginning this show has a lot of cracks.

I don't know. I really enjoy Seed and have enjoyed Seed Destiny so far. I think the whole show would be better without the gods Lacus and Kira. Kira had at least some problems in Seed, but Lacus is way too perfect.

The second they introduce Jesus Yamato and Lacus in Destiny, the whole story goes to shit. I mean, wtf is it with Gundam shows and listening to kids about political matters like they're the penultimate source? I was rewatching Gundam Wing last week and it just blew my mind at how the leaders all deferred to either Relena or Dorothy for political stances. I know that Gundam shows at the core are fantastical nonsense and whatnot, but c'mon. Fucking hilarious! Plus Dorothy's eyebrows and Noin's cowboy outfit at the end... wtf? And Wing Gundam has to take the cake for the "most abused, treated like a red headed step-child" main Gundam in all mecha series. And Wing Zero is the village bicycle. :lol

Soooo... Ngee Khiong has finished his post "The End". He's done posting new kits on his blog because of the politics of the Gundam world (i.e. hate between 00, UC, and SEED), and getting burnt out on hate mail and internet haters.

I think he should do it despite these things. The internet + anonymity = a pretty stupid place sometimes, but its no reason to go and stop doing something you love. Whatevs though, he will be missed.

What's going on with Unicorn volume 2, US?

Amazon doesn't have a date or price and it should just be right around the corner.
Right Stuf has it at $10 more than volume 1, so $60 retail before discount. WTF. I hope that's an error. If they're really trying to charge $60 an ep in the US for 60 min OAV they can go fuck themselves. I got over paying $60 an ep for shows years ago.

Will not buy unless I can get it for $30 an ep.

The difference is that in Wing, people deferred to Relena because they were using her for their own ends. Whereas Lacus was just that good at everything.

Yeah, I saw that the other day. Is there a good alternative site? I already visit SRW Hotnews daily, but it's not as comprehensive.

True considering Relena's "position of power," but Eyebrows (Dorothy)?
