On the 24th: Work until 11:59p.m.

12:00 - Be the first to buy Halo 3 on the East Coast! (I wish)

12:05 - Play single player until I beat it (Heroic co-op with a friend). Snacks, drinks etc.

Will play Multiplayer/Forge the second Campaign is finished. Go on GAF and discuss the great ending at some point.

Nice, you even have it scheduled to the minute.
:D

Personally, I'll get off work around 6-6:30, go home and sleep for about 4 hours, wake up and go pick up my already paid for pre-order.

My plan for the release is to probably go wait the 24th around 11ish PM in ghetto Cleveland. When I get it back, I'll probably fire up a quick game of multiplayer (without my headset to avoid any spoilers) to hopefully jump out to a good start before I start getting my ass handed to me. Then I'll probably start up the campaign either by myself or with some GAFers if I can find some willing to play the first nite (I assume most will want to play through by themselves first).

I'm the exact opposite, I can't wait for me and my friends to get home after picking it up on midnight to start tearing through the campaign 4 playrer co-op sytle! This game is going to be an amazing amount of fun online, can't wait to play some co-op and multiplayer.

If you're playing solo, don't do Legendary the first time through. Even if you're awesome, you'll enjoy the story more on Heroic. If you're doing 2 player coop, you're still probably better off on Heroic. It's a good, solid difficulty level.

Another thing: if you play coop, don't enable scoring for your first run through. I guarantee you'll be all distracted trying to get ahead of your teammates. For that matter, if you're looking to really soak it all in, you might not want to go more than 2 player coop on your first run through.

Avoid the bonus discs and stuff till you've been through the campaign, all kinds of spoilers in there.

I want to go through Legendary first, but I'm tempted to go with Heroic just so I can get through the game fast and not be afraid of spoilers.

Nice recomendation there. I seriously have this master schedule of that day and the video documentaries that come with the Legendary Edition take place after my first 5 hours of campaign. Spoilers Avoided.

edit: I dont know if this question has been asked, but are the endings different according to the difficulties?

I played Halo 2 the first time on Heroic and it really took too long to complete. I wanted to play on Live, but I also didn't want some asshat to spoil it for me before I completed it.

So, I'm thinking I'm gonna do it on Normal this time just so I can finish in a few days and get on Live sooner...

Nice. So you think a 2 player co-op for the first run through is a good idea? I guess it all comes down to who youre playing with and whether not they are going to rush you or talk all the time or not go fast enough or anything like that. Thats my biggest concern -- that people are people and theyre annoying.

I'm playing it on Heroic mainly because of peer pressure.

I think playing on Legendary your first time through would be rather stupid, the entire point of the first play through for me is to soak up the story in a good timely fashion. You're going to be getting killed alot on Legendary just due to the whole game being new to you, and the more you die, the more the game will wear you down to the point of you perhaps losing some interest in the story due to frustration with the difficulty.

Just my 2 cents.

Are ALL the Gamestops/EB's doing a midnight launch? I might have to hook up with my local BLOOD street gang and get myself some HALO 3 at Midnight(along with some pussy rape):lol

I agree, I played Rainbow Six on the hardest difficultly the first time through and it took away from my enjoyment of the story (what little there is). I would really hate to do that for Halo 3. Plus, I found myself frustrated a lot, which made me not enjoy the experience as much as I think I could have.

Brimley's a jerk. There, I said it.

So I was watching Seinfield today and they had the episode with Brimley on. It was crazy, the world revolves around that man.

Only in this thread.

Leave Brimley alone, he has all sorta medical problems like Diabeetus, Lung problems, The Clap, heroin addiction, Syphilis, A.I.D.S. etc....let the man have his commercials, Hi I'm Wilford Brimley, and your lucky as shit you Dick doesn't look like mine...:lol

Might as well throw in my plans. With a screwed up back and legs I can't even begin to do the wait in line anymore. So I'll thaw out my homemade chili I made earlier this week and froze on the evening of the 24th.

Then I'll stay up and play COD 4 beta till midnight. Then I'll go to bed. Yes go to bed. After that I'll wake up nice and late in the morning and proceed to sit in a chair looking out the front window until the UPS guy comes probably around 3 to 5 pm.

Then I'll pop that bad boy out of the packaging. Place my MC head on my shelf and proceed to tear in to campaign all by myself. I won't even touch anything else till I am done with the campaign.

I was refreshing to see Buttonbasher's reaction to the Bimley Ban, but I guess I'll see it tomorrow. I bet it is going to be epic.

Yup, unmasking Master Chief without spoiler tag was going too far.

Plans, I has them!

So, I'm hoping my copy arrives on Tuesday Morning (as Gameplay usually get stuff to you the day before), and as nobody will be here to receive it I can pick it up on my way to work on Wednesday morning. Wednesday will see me sitting at work, sweating as I stare glassy eyed at the box, counting the seconds until sweet, sweet freedom. I will then run home as fast as I can, praying public transport is kind to me. Once home I shall covet the box, opening it slowly, like undressing a lover, before losing patience and tearing the helmet from its pedestal and ramming the disc in to the 360.

I'll spend a little time in the menus, creating a logo for my online persona, tweaking the controls to my Halo 2 setup. Taking in every twitch, screen change, and menu item before finally heading back out and starting the campaign. On normal. I want my first time to be pleasing to me on many levels. I'll probably be able to get three steps in to the first mission before my girlfriend arrives home, demanding food at which point I'll give a wink and a smile to the 360 and turn it off, cooing quietly as I sit and eat, pretending to listen to her about her day.

Once eaten I'll return, lower the lights, raise the volume and continue onward, forever onward to victory and great justice.

To recap; pootle in the menus, play through on Normal to take in the story, once done some online to get the wind taken out of my sails before heading back at the weekend to play through on Co-Op in Heroic or Legendary depending on the number of players. I'll likely avoid Multiplayer until all the people obsessed with rank and "raping" are well out of my level range so I can, you know, enjoy that part as it was intended.

Yeah, I ordered from Shopto.net and their products normally arrive a day early since they give free 1st class recorded delivery and also ship it early... but I'm still wonderin, are they aloud to do that with Halo 3?

Thank you! :D

I thought normal was the "normal" diffuculty, and now I hear that "normal" is heroic? Someone help me out here, see when I get the game I want it to be fun and like "normal" but not too easy or too hard.. ?

I know it's not exactly the same, but I got my Wind Waker from them TWO days before. I didn't risk it with Halo 2 as I wanted to see what this "lining up at midnight" crap was like, and it was... interesting.

The funny thing being I went home, put the game on the kitchen table and went to bed :lol

This time I just need to stay off the internet until I can actually play through it once. Which shouldn't be hard at all given I'm going to be working until the weekend in a job with scant internet access D:

"Normal" isn't heroic. Most people who have been playing Halo since Halo 1 no longer find a challenge at the normal setting. So, for those people, Bungie recommends heroic. If you've never been that great at Halo, or FPSes in general, normal is probably what you want. If you want a challenge, I highly doubt heroic would be too frustrating for you. It's just that after 7+ years, most Halo players are no longer challenged by normal, and Bungie knows that - they didn't want to make their game harder overall, so they're just recommending to their core fanbase that heroic is the way to roll.

I want to be best friends with you. You make me jealous with shared appreciation for how to enjoy a good game, and with the mark of bliss it can leave a certain time of the year with.

Just ordered from GAME using their new £5 off orders over £30 vouchers, plus I was surprised to see I had £2.50 worth of reward points, so I'm getting the game for a bargain price of £32.50! Plus, I went through Quidco so I'll get 11% cashback on top of that, bringing the price down to under £30, woo :D

what?

I drop by this thread to see if there were any hot discussions, and I find this. Now I'm not even touching the previous pages of the thread, and I'm rather afraid to be on the internet now if this is going to be a problem.

I'm just glad it doesn't happen so often anymore. Although I did spend a stupid amount of time on the Bioshock menu just moving up and down the options listening to the piano.
