hey guys I've been out of App land for a while.

Going away for a few days and could use some great apps and games.



What's the current must have stuff?
(Normally one thing per genre does me just fine)

Wondered what was in the whole library tho.

Gona re-check out tap tap & hit up the itunes app store briefly any word on Katameri, Monopolly, Uno, Scrabble & PokerX Quest (if you already have MotionX Poker is it worth it?)

Katamari I would wait to see if it gets update, as it's got some pretty nasty issues right now. I can't say anything for the others except for Poker Quest. From the Lite version, all that's different is just a re-skin of the tables, dice, etc. and an added "Roll" button if you don't want to shake the dice.

But you want to see my whole collection, eh?

Bought these two games.
Tiki Towers is indeed a mix between world of goo and elephunk and is quite fun. Great music and sound effects too. It's a steal for $.99.

Pajatzo. I'm not so sure about this one. I just shake a lot and I win the game.
I have to play it some more. Maybe I'm playing it wrong.

newtonica2 is SUPER AWESOME and is $.99 So much fun in a great little stylized package. You're in space, trying to get the duck from point A to point B. Sounds boring, but it's such a great puzzle game. Buy it and love it.

HydroTilt is new and SUPER AWESOME and is $2.99 Very similar to the Archer Maclean's Mercury games. You control a blob of water and can change into various forms like ice and steam to further uniquerize (yes, I made that up) the gameplay. The controls are spot-on (no Monkey Ball bullshit here!) Buy it and say, "BABY, WHURR YOU BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!"

Bounce Trap is $.99 This is a mix of Peggle and awesomeness. It's kind of hard to explain, but it's very similar to Peggle. Just check out the screens. Then buy it.

Frenzic is $1.99 As stated before.. great game that is freaking addicting as hell.

Theseus is $1.99 Great little cat and mouse puzzle game.

Quick Draw is $1.99 iSketch. Fun when you can find a game. That shouldn't be much of a problem if enough people bite with the price drop.

Scoops is $1.99 It's fun. You have an ice cream cone, and you collect scoops that are falling from the sky. It's fun. And you have ice cream. Fun.

Just putting a little word for these apps out there, since they're some of the best and most fun so far. I've also been playing a LOT of Tap Tap Dance, Christmas with Weezer, and Tap Tap Revenge still.

There's no real "winning and losing." Just trying to get the highest score. I use the flicking method of control. I don't like the inaccuracy of the shaking.

5 stages, has story mode, time trial and endless mode.

Now heres the weird part...
I finished the last stage on story mode and the game just goes back to the stage select screen. No credits no end to the story, nothing. Also there are no presents or cousins.

Not over 3G you can't. You'll have to either use wifi or get it through iTunes.

I'd be interested in hearing the reviews for it as well. I expect it to be a hacked down version of sim city 4 myself.

lol. I was going to say the same. loading does take awhile although I'm sure its a slightly more complex game than the norm.
 
C'mon i'm after impressions on sim city. It needs to control very nicely, be simple in accessibility yet deep in underlying complexity, it must be the exact opposite of a barebones, hollowed out cash grab like metal gear solid touch.
 
I still don't see why people are bashing Katamari so badly. It's definitely not comparable to the console versions, but it's still pretty good.

Monkey Ball 2 is to iPhone Monkey Ball as Katamari Damacy is to i Love Katamari.

Anyway, I'm about to buy some Sim City and start reticulating some splines! I'll give impressions after I've played it a while.

Hey, I bought 1112 also. Haven't played it a whole lot, yet, but it was pretty sweet and I dig the art style.

On a separate note, I just spent about 25 bucks buying more apps right now. I'll give impressions later.
 
Downloaded the following:

-Hero of Sparta- Fun for hack and slash fans. Not really worth $10 in my opinion though.
-Fieldrunners- If you like tower defense games, this is a no brainer. I am extremely addicted. It has that PixelJunk-like charm. Might not be worth the $10, depends on replayability.
-Tiki Towers- Best $.99 that I've spent on the app store. If you like World of Goo, definitely worth the money.
-MotionX Poker Quest- Like everybody else on GAF, I have nothing but praise for this. I don't even really like poker, but love this game.
-The Price is Right- If you remember playing that really bad Family Feud game on SNES, it's like that. Very fun, and cheesy.
-Flick Fishing- Another good 99 cents well spent. If you like fishing in Zelda, you'll enjoy Flick Fishing.
-touchPhysics- Interesting concept, but gets repititive.
-Enigmo- Good puzzler, but shouldn't be $3. Tiki Towers is better for $.99.
-Brothers In Arms- Good graphics, controls suck. Not worth $10.
-Arcade Hoops- Great to pick up in play. It is the classic arcade basketball game.
-Blast- Basically an iPhone equivalent of a point and click shooter. Not very fun.
 
If anyone outside the US is looking to buy SimCity, it has a slightly different name for some reason and so that link won't work. Get it here instead. £5.99 on the UK store.

I want it but if there are crash issues I'll wait for now.

From the sounds/looks of it, it seems to blow Fieldrunners out of the water. Not that that's hard to do.. FR has very basic gameplay options when it boils down to it.

Why? There are so many other great games that deserve praise. Sure Puzzle Quest is good, but it's not like that's the only game that's worth bumping this thread for. :\

I love the artwork, but the game is way too confusing most of the time.

Dammit, I already spent 25 bucks on Apps today... Bah, what's another 5? I'm gonna go buy it.

I'll let you guys know how it is. Personally, I got pretty bored with Fieldrunners after a while. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but it's not INCREDIBLE... In fact, just about every PC TD game I've played is better than it.

Exactly. I don't get why it's the holy grail of TD games on the App Store. It's got fantastic graphics, yeah; but two arenas, limited gameplay options, and only four towers is slim pickings for a game that relies solely on its replayability factor.

Oh, and HydroTilt better be one of those games you bought. :p

What games did you buy, btw?

Because I come here looking for the confirmation that PQ is up on the App Store and all I keep doing is downloading more and more of the great games you guys keep recommending in the meantime! :p
